Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower the community of Kelaisi Timur Village, Alor Regency, through training on processing taro into flavored chips to increase the added value of local products and household farmers’ income. The program was implemented using the Asset-Based Community-Driven Development (ABCD) method with five stages: inculturation, discovery, design, define, and reflection. The results show that the ABCD approach successfully mobilized community participation by utilizing local assets, especially the abundant taro commodity. Participants gained new skills, including raw material sorting, soaking taro to reduce calcium oxalate content, slicing techniques, deep-frying methods, flavoring, and packaging. The training improved technical skills, raised awareness of local potential, and established a taro chips business group committed to continuing production independently. This program is expected to enhance household income and support local food security in Kelaisi Timur.

Abstract

The fish smoking business in Purnama Village has considerable potential for continued growth. Smoked fish processing is carried out traditionally by the local community, using Kusambi wood charcoal. Meanwhile, packaging is still done simply using plastic bags, so the fish produced cannot last long, resulting in local communities not being able to market outside the region or widely, but still limited to local marketing and to meet daily needs. Based on these constraints, it is very important to conduct training on packaging and global marketing methods through community service activities in Increasing Smoked Fish Production through training on storing and packaging Smoked Fish Processing so that it does not spoil quickly and can last longer. This community service activity is carried out through Community Learning and Assistance Activities (KBPM) conducted by Tribuana Kalabahi University to provide knowledge on packaging smoked fish to make it attractive, long-lasting or not easily damaged so that it can be marketed globally. The target output of this community service activity is publication in a national journal with ISSN. The training methods in this activity are team formation, formulation of objectives, identification of target communities, collection and analysis of needs, and determination of priority solutions to problems. The activity is planned in two stages for two days. The first stage is the smoking process, and the second stage is an introduction to vacuum equipment and training in vacuum-packaging fish. This activity aims to improve the community's knowledge and skills in the smoked fish business, equip them with the skills to use vacuum equipment, and effectively package fish, thereby increasing product value. Smoked fish entrepreneurs can also increase their competitiveness in the market, which can then be used as a source of income.

Abstract

The KBPM Desa student work programme identifies the local food potential of Bana Village to be managed into food products with economic value. The main objective of this programme is to improve the community's skills in processing and packaging products, as well as opening up wider marketing access through digitalisation. Through training, discussions, and collaborative work, the community is encouraged to be more confident in developing the village's flagship product, namely seaweed crackers. Through the training and production process, participants gained skills in the production process and processing of seaweed into crackers, and showed high motivation to develop small businesses based on local potential. From a production perspective, participants were able to understand and carry out the process of processing seaweed into crackers that are ready for consumption. From a marketing perspective, participants began to realise the importance of promotional strategies, attractive packaging design, and the use of social media to expand market reach. Thus, this activity succeeded in increasing the understanding and entrepreneurial skills of the community and students, and proved that local resources (local potential) such as seaweed can be the basis for more valuable and useful food product innovations. This demonstrates that entrepreneurship education focused on local potential not only supports family economic growth but also contributes to the development of flagship products in Alor District.

Abstract

This study discusses the transformation of the potential of superior products in Tulleng Village, Lembur District, Alor Regency, which until now have not been optimally utilized as a source of economic improvement for the community. The purpose of this community service journal is to identify the village's superior potential, analyze the obstacles faced, and formulate development strategies that can support community welfare. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the observation indicate that Tulleng Village has several potential superior products, including rice fields, corn, sweet potatoes (cassava), bananas, porang, and forest wood. However, there are still obstacles such as a lack of community understanding of business management, low product processing skills, and a lack of innovation. Development efforts can be carried out through increasing human resource capacity, empowering business groups, product innovation, and government support in terms of access to capital and marketing. By implementing these strategies, Tulleng Village's superior products have the potential to be developed into commodities that not only have local value but are also able to compete in the global market.

Abstract

Local food MSMEs have great potential to boost the community's economy, including in Bareng Village, Sawahan Subdistrict, Nganjuk Regency. However, limited knowledge about packaging standards, product legality, and digital marketing strategies poses a challenge in improving competitiveness. This community service activity aimed to provide training on standard-compliant food product packaging, PIRT and halal licensing, and digital marketing strategies. The implementation methods included lectures, hands-on practice, and mentoring for 40 banana-processing SME actors. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, as well as practice observations. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge of participants regarding food labelling standards from 62% to 88%. Packaging skills improved significantly, from 17 participants (41.7%) who were capable before the training to 37 participants (93.3%) who were capable after the training. In terms of digital marketing, 35 participants (86.7%) successfully created business accounts on social media and marketplaces and were able to create simple promotional content. This activity is expected to be the first step in increasing the competitiveness of banana processing MSMEs in local and digital markets.

Abstract

This study examines the strengthening of local wisdom through a participatory approach to environmental conservation in the coastal community of Nii Tanasa Village. Coastal communities play a key role in ecosystem management, where customary values and traditional practices serve as strong guidelines for pro-environmental behavior. The participatory approach actively engages the community in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of conservation activities, such as mangrove planting, waste management, and fishing monitoring. Survey results indicate a high level of participation, particularly in beach cleanup (78%) and mangrove rehabilitation (68%), as well as a collective awareness supported by adherence to customary rules (72%). Qualitative analysis reveals that collaboration between traditional leaders, fishing groups, and the government strengthens sustainable and inclusive conservation mechanisms. Environmental education strengthens the integration of cultural values into conservation practices, increasing collective awareness and behavior. This approach not only maintains the balance of the coastal ecosystem but also improves socio-economic well-being through ecotourism opportunities and natural resource resilience. The findings confirm that the synergy of local wisdom and active participation is an effective strategy for adaptive and sustainable environmental conservation, while simultaneously strengthening the social capital of coastal communities.
