Abstract

Literacy skills serve as a fundamental pillar in supporting children's cognitive and socio-emotional development. Unfortunately, disparities in access to literacy resources remain prevalent, particularly in rural areas such as Parigi Village. The read-aloud program initiated by KKM 57 student volunteers emerged as a strategic effort to cultivate a joyful and inclusive reading habit among children in the community. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach to provide an in-depth account of the program's implementation and its impact on children's motivation and engagement in literacy activities. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation during activities held at the "Desaku Cerdas" Community Library. The findings indicate that the read-aloud method successfully created a welcoming and interactive learning environment, increased children's confidence to express themselves, and encouraged parental involvement in supporting children's reading habits. These outcomes reinforce the idea that simple yet participatory approaches like reading aloud can be effective alternatives in promoting community-based literacy culture. Therefore, similar programs are worth replicating in other areas with appropriate contextual adaptations. Keywords: literacy, reading aloud, KKM 57

Abstract

This survey training was conducted with the aim of measuring the institutional performance of the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) Kominfo in Surabaya Work Area IV, covering five main provinces in Java, in carrying out the Universal Service Obligation (KPU) for Telecommunications and Informatics. The activity was designed to enhance the capability of the Area IV team to perform monitoring and evaluation (Monev) functions in accordance with regulatory mandates. The training methods focused on mastering techniques for mapping performance indicators, collecting, processing, and analyzing Universal Service Obligation data, including digital literacy. The results show the team's success in formulating policy scenarios and, most importantly, conducting a Large-Scale Field Survey to assess internet service provision performance across 441 points in Central Java, West Java, and Banten. With this new capability, the Area IV team successfully produced a comprehensive Final Survey Report, providing objective qualitative and quantitative information to measure BAKTI’s performance, thereby supporting strategic decision-making and enhancing the accountability of Universal Service Obligation programs in the region. Abstract

Reading literacy is an important foundation for building Indonesia's future generation, capable of critical thinking and global competitiveness. Reading can encourage someone to have extensive knowledge and be able to understand all information well. One method to build a culture of reading literacy is read aloud method. This community service activity was carried out at one of the elementary schools in Tangerang Regency, namely Selapajang II Elementary School, Cisoka District, Tangerang Regency. This community service activity was carried out by introducing and teaching children the reading aloud method using story books for grade 6 students. The method of implementation of this activity was carried out by providing socialization to students about the reading aloud method, reading aloud practice, and game sessions and giving prizes to students. The results of this activity showed positive achievements as seen from the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the students. Abstract

The preservation of coastal ecosystems has become a crucial global priority, particularly in areas facing severe degradation due to industrialization, population growth, and climate change. This community engagement project aims to promote sustainable environmental protection through mangrove planting in Lontar Village, Serang Regency, Banten Province. The program involved collaboration among local communities, the Kemangter Community, and the Department of Government Science at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The method consisted of observation, interviews, and direct mangrove planting, engaging 125 participants and planting approximately 150 mangrove seedlings along the coastal area. The results demonstrate that collaborative governance between academics and local communities enhances ecological restoration, fosters environmental awareness, and strengthens social and economic resilience. Mangrove planting not only protects coastal areas from abrasion and erosion but also supports community-based ecotourism and small-scale fisheries, providing long-term economic benefits. The partnership model integrates scientific knowledge with local wisdom, forming a holistic and participatory approach to conservation. In conclusion, this initiative proves that sustainable environmental protection can be achieved through community–academic collaboration that unites ecological restoration, social empowerment, and local economic development toward a more sustainable future.

Abstract

Thematic Literacy Student Community Service Program (KKM) of Group 35, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, was implemented from July 8 to August 7, 2025, at the Sumber Ilmu Library, Mekarsari Village, Rajeg Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency. This activity aimed to revitalize the function of the village library as a literacy center and to improve the reading skills of elementary school students. The implementation method employed a participatory approach through coordination with schools, library managers, the village government, and the community. The main programs included Read Aloud, Read Me a Book, Smart Book Review, Book-Based Project and Story Creation, and Village-Level Literacy Appreciation. Supporting programs comprised reading tutorials, creative competitions, healthy exercise sessions, and communal work (gotong royong). The results indicated increased participation of students from SDN Sukasari 2, enhanced creativity, and strengthened communication skills through storytelling competitions. Program sustainability was achieved through the commitment of village youth volunteers to continue weekly reading tutorials and the routine scheduling of healthy exercise sessions by the karang taruna (youth organization). In conclusion, the revitalization of the village library through the Thematic Literacy KKM has proven effective in fostering reading interest, creativity, and social interaction among children, while simultaneously reinforcing the library’s role as an active community learning center.Keywords: Literacy; Village Library; Community Service; KKM; UNTIRTA

Abstract

This community service program aims to revitalize the village library so that it can function again as a center of literacy and learning for the community. The main problem encountered is the suboptimal management and utilization of village library facilities. The program was carried out at the Majasari Village Library, Jawilan Subdistrict, Serang Regency, using a participatory mentoring approach implemented through several stages: (1) Sorting library materials, (2) Applying ownership and inventory stamps, (3) Creating a master catalog book, (4) Preparing descriptive and subject catalogs, (5) Attaching labels, pockets, and book cards, and (6) Organizing collections according to categories. The results show that the library materials became more organized, the number of collections was well recorded, and the process of finding materials needed by the community became easier. Abstract

Schools are a foundational institution in building a nation's future. As centers of learning and character development, schools hold a dual role: not only to transfer knowledge but also to foster a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for all students. In Lebak Regency, Banten Province, sexual violence has emerged as a critical issue demanding urgent attention. Data from various institutions reveal an alarming trend: cases of sexual violence, particularly affecting students, are increasing annually. This phenomenon represents a tangible crisis that threatens the safety and future of the region's younger generation. An educational outreach program on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence was conducted at SMAN 3 Pangarangan (Pangarangan 3 State Senior High School), Cimandiri Village, Pangarangan District, Lebak Regency. This program was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the topic, aiming to enhance their capacity for self-protection against sexual violence in their daily lives, particularly within the school environment. The program's methodology included lectures, interactive discussions, practical self-protection exercises, and a final evaluation quiz. Abstract

Food availability at the family level is an important issue in strengthening national food security, especially in rural areas. In Sukadiri Village, the “One House One Local Food” Program offers an innovative solution by encouraging the use of honey pumpkin (Butternut squash) as a local food source that is highly nutritious and easy to cultivate. The choice of honey pumpkin is based on its high nutritional content and its ability to grow well in home yards, so that it can support the fulfillment of food needs while increasing family income. The implementation of this program includes education and assistance to residents regarding planting techniques, processing, and utilization of honey pumpkin as daily food. Preliminary results show an increase in community enthusiasm in cultivating honey pumpkin, a variety in food consumption, as well as a positive impact on improving family nutrition and strengthening the household economy. This innovation is also strengthened by the synergy between sectors, including the active involvement of agricultural extension workers and health workers in providing nutrition education and monitoring community development. Therefore, the one house one local food approach based on honey pumpkin has proven to be a strategic step towards family food independence and sustainability in Sukadiri Village. Abstract

The high level of digital media usage among university students is not always accompanied by sufficient media literacy or awareness of digital ethics. Many students engage in sharing unverified information, using inappropriate language on social media, and demonstrating limited understanding of privacy and copyright principles. To address these issues, a community service activity was conducted in the form of an interactive online workshop titled "Media Literacy and Digital Ethics Awareness for University Students." The goal was to enhance students' critical and ethical awareness in digital media usage. The training was held via Zoom and attended by 40 students from various disciplines. Quantitative evaluation was conducted through satisfaction surveys and pre-test/post-test comparisons, while qualitative evaluation involved observing participant interactions during the sessions. Results indicated a significant increase in understanding, with the proportion of students categorized as “highly understanding” rising from 10% to 45%. Satisfaction responses showed that the majority of participants found the materials highly relevant and beneficial. These findings suggest that online-based outreach programs are effective strategies for fostering digital literacy and ethical awareness among students from diverse academic backgrounds.Keywords: media literacy, digital ethics, university students, online training, outreach

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan membawa perubahan besar pada pola asuh dan pendidikan anak usia dini. Hal tersebut menuntut orang tua dan guru untuk memahami pentingnya pendidikan sebagai fondasi perkembangan anak. Pendidikan anak usia dini tidak hanya bertujuan mengenalkan keterampilan dasar tetapi juga membentuk kemampuan kognitif, sosial, emosional, dan moral. PAUD Mekar Sari di Kabupaten Banyumas menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan fasilitas dan rendahnya partisipasi orang tua. Kondisi ini menghambat upaya menciptakan pendidikan berkualitas. Alternatif solusi yang ditawarkan melalui program pengabdian masyarakat skema IPTEKS, diantarnya: (1) Mengidentifikasi dan memetakan kondisi serta kebutuhan masyarakat/orangtua peserta didik PAUD; (2) Menilai pemahaman masyarakat dan orangtua sebagai upaya persiapan sosialiasi dan pendampingan; (3) Sosialisai kepada Orangtua dan Masyarakat mengenai pentingnya Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini di lingkungan PAUD Mekarsari Kelurahan Kranji; (4) Pelaksanaan pendampingan; (5) Pembuatan Media Campaign tentang Pentingnya pendidikan anak usia dini, khususnya di lingkungan PAUD Mekar Sari. Sosialisasi dan pendampingan digunakan kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 31 Juli 2025, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan partisipasi masyarakat dan orangtua mengenai pentingnya pendidikan anak usia dini. Luaran kegiatan meliputi artikel prosiding, presentasi seminar nasional, profil hasil pengabdian, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran serta partisipasi orangtua dan masyarakat, khususnya di lingkungan PAUD Mekar Sari Kelurahan Kranji.
