Abstract

University libraries are crucial for the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Complex user needs demand efficient services and reliable collection management. This community service program took place at the NHI Bandung Tourism Polytechnic Library over 40 working days, using a participatory approach and fostering close collaboration between the team and librarians. Activities focused on supporting thesis/final project (TA/PA) services, digital and print collection processing, archive handling, and security checks. Results showed a more organized TA/PA workflow and controlled access to TA/PA collections over the past 6 years (2019–2024). Digital discovery improved with the addition of Emerald e-journal metadata to the library website, and new printed books were thoroughly processed (classification, cataloging, labeling, and shelving). Collection governance was strengthened through the weeding of 612 items and a physical inventory of 14,479 items, supported by sensory checks of reference materials. These results demonstrate that targeted operational support can improve service efficiency, data accuracy, and collection relevance; Libraries must standardize workflows, schedule regular weeding/inventories, and modernize supporting equipment. The next step is to measure user satisfaction and match the physical collection with the integrated catalog.

Abstract

University libraries must be able to provide educational and informational services and support research to meet users' needs. This service, through the Pengabdian ini melalui Program Penguatan Profesional Non Kependidikan (P3KNK), carries out P3KNK activities at the Perpustakaan Institut Teknologi Nasional (ITENAS). The main objective of this P3KNK activity is to gain direct experience in the world of work in libraries, both in service and in library collection management, applying knowledge learned during lectures and adapting to the library work environment. This service activity was carried out at the ITENAS Library over 35 working days, spanning three stages: pre-implementation, implementation, and post-implementation. This activity has successfully supported the management of the ITENAS Library through circulation services, library material processing, final project media transfer, weeding, stocktaking, and library promotion. Good library management can increase visits to the library. In addition, this service faced several obstacles, which were resolved during the P3KNK activity.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted to empower women in PKK Dusun Gondanglegi, Sleman, through integrated vocational training in catering. The program aimed to improve participants' competencies in food production, professional presentation, and digital promotion. The primary reason was a gap between participants' actual capacities and competitive catering standards: 25 active PKK members earned an average monthly revenue of under IDR 500,000, served only local orders, and relied entirely on word-of-mouth marketing, with no digital presence. The program applied competency-based training through three sequential stages: cognitive knowledge on catering management, cost calculation, and entrepreneurship; hands-on practice in menu diversification, plating, and packaging; and digital promotional content creation using smartphones. Evaluation applied the Kirkpatrick Model at two levels: Level 1 measured satisfaction via a 5-point Likert scale (mean = 4.25/5.00), and Level 2 assessed competency mastery through written tests and rubric-based assessments. All four groups achieved the "Excellent" (Istimewa) category with scores between 85-93. The program also led to the formation of a pilot catering business unit receiving three initial orders, demonstrating that integrated multi-competency training yields more sustainable empowerment outcomes than single-intervention approaches.

Abstract

Indonesia's rapid digital transformation demands that teachers develop strong digital literacy competencies. However, persistent gaps, particularly in data literacy, applied technical problem-solving, and digital content creation, have not been fully addressed by existing training programs. The emergence of AI in education further increases competency demands that are not widely accommodated by current teacher professional development initiatives. This community service article reports on a two-session online digital literacy training involving 137 teachers from elementary, junior high, senior high, and vocational high schools across 26 provinces in Indonesia. The training was designed based on the UNESCO Global Framework of Reference on Digital Literacy Skills and expanded upon by the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers. Outcomes were measured through a post-training self-assessment survey, and findings indicate that participants reported high to very high digital literacy self-efficacy after the training. Ethics and Security emerged as the strongest dimensions, while data literacy remained the weakest area, reflecting the difficulty of building critical information-evaluation skills through short-term interventions. Applied technical problem-solving and digital content integration were also identified as follow-up priorities. This training confirms that online professional development grounded in a global framework is a measurable strategy for building teachers' digital literacy nationally.

Abstract

The Community Learning Center (CLC) in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, provides basic education for the children of Indonesian migrant workers, but the teachers face challenges with digital literacy, pedagogical competence, and professional isolation due to the center's remote location on a plantation. This community service activity aims to develop and implement an e-collaborative learning platform to strengthen CLC teachers' competencies through a continuous, technology-integrated capacity-building model. The program is implemented through six participatory stages based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and Outcome-Based Education frameworks. This includes a needs analysis, the design of a WordPress-based platform called EduKolab, and interactive training on quality assurance, andragogy, and digital learning for participating teachers. This activity was attended by 20 CLC teachers from various regions in Sabah. The evaluation combined pre- and post-tests with the TPACK Likert-scale instrument and reflective interviews, and analyzed them using N-Gain and thematic analysis. Teachers demonstrated substantial improvements across all competency indicators, reflected in increased digital self-efficacy, the formation of cross-site professional learning communities, and a stronger understanding of andragogical principles in serving adult learners. Integrating TPACK with social constructivism and adult learning principles effectively addresses teacher competency gaps in cross-border educational contexts and offers a replicable model for other CLC.

Abstract

In the correctional system, children require not only legal solutions but also rehabilitation through guidance, education, and character building based on the values of religious moderation. However, the implementation of rehabilitation programs at the Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak (LPKA) still faces structural obstacles, such as limited human resources, facilities, and infrastructure, and institutional capacity. This emphasizes the importance of a collaborative governance approach involving non-governmental actors to achieve more comprehensive and inclusive rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of collaborative governance in an Islamic boarding school-based character-building program oriented towards strengthening religious moderation at the Class I LPKA Tangerang. The method used was a qualitative approach through interviews, observation, and document analysis. The results show that the collaboration between LPKA and the Maskanul Huffadz Islamic Boarding School can integrate resources, clarify institutional roles, and strengthen moderate, tolerant, and inclusive character education. This program increases children's participation in religious activities and their ability to read the Quran, and fosters attitudes of discipline, cooperation, and tolerance. These findings indicate that cross-sector collaboration is effective in strengthening social rehabilitation and internalizing the values of religious moderation.

Abstract

Pulau Panjang Village in Puloampel Sub-district, Serang Regency, is an island community facing serious limitations in accessing clean water. Dependence on shallow groundwater vulnerable to saltwater intrusion, combined with the absence of an adequate piped water network, makes this area a priority for appropriate technology interventions. This community service activity implements Jaringan Air Warga Ramah Lingkungan Sistem Terpadu (JAWARA SISTEM), a rainwater-harvesting system based on ultrafiltration and ultraviolet (UV) sterilization, integrated with a solar panel as an off-grid energy source. Implementation employs a Theory of Change (ToC) framework that systematically maps inputs, activities, outputs, and outcomes. The system was installed at the Village Health Post (Poskesdes) of Pulau Panjang in January 2026 after institutional coordination, field surveys, technical design, and community socialization. The results show that the system produces 50 to 100 liters of water per day off-grid, with water quality verified by the Banten Provincial Laboratory and found to comply with Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor 2 Tahun 2023. This system initially serves five households in the community surrounding the village health post. This activity demonstrates that integrating rainwater harvesting technology, renewable energy, and structured community engagement provides a replicable model for coastal and small island areas facing similar challenges.

Abstract

Waroeng Batja was developed as a community-based informal school in Panguragan Lor Village. This program is designed as a free, open, and participatory learning space. Waroeng Batja has succeeded in establishing a community-based informal learning ecosystem involving 70 school-age participants, consisting of 23 elementary school students, 31 middle school students, and 16 high school students, and supported by 30 student facilitators. The program is implemented through Participatory Action Research (PAR), with routine learning activities held three times a week, including reading habits, assistance with school assignments, English learning, basic digital literacy, local cultural learning, and entrepreneurial practices. Quantitatively, the entrepreneurship program involves 45 students, using 400 oyster mushroom bags that produce 180 kg of harvest, and utilizing 80 m² of land for vegetable cultivation with a yield of 120 kg. The entrepreneurship component generated revenue of Rp6,160,000, a surplus of Rp1,860,000, social cash funds of Rp958,000, measurable social benefits of Rp4,773,000, and a simple social return on investment of 1.11. In terms of culture, the initial assessment showed that none of the 10 purposively selected participants could name at least 3 forms of Cirebon culture. In contrast, in the final assessment, all 10 participants were able to name at least three forms of Cirebon culture and were involved in practicing and performing the Cirebon Mask Dance. These findings indicate that informal schools that integrate literacy, culture, and social entrepreneurship can serve as a contextual model of community service when supported by the participation of facilitators, village government, and partner networks, and by data-based evaluation.

Abstract

This study evaluates the contextual relevance of introducing Lean Construction to Vocational High School (SMK) students in Indonesia through a triangulation assessment of student workshop responses, curriculum alignment, and graduate employment data over three years. The novelty of this study lies in the simultaneous assessment of all three dimensions at the vocational education level, a topic that has rarely been addressed in the Lean Construction education literature. A short workshop combining a Lean Construction lecture and a LEGO-based Last Planner System® (LPS) simulation was conducted with 59 12th-grade students in the Building Construction, Sanitation, and Maintenance (KGSP) program at SMKN 26 Jakarta. Results indicated that 98% of students rated Lean Construction as important or very important, and 83.05% expressed interest in learning more. Curriculum analysis of official Learning Outcomes (Capaian Pembelajaran/CP) documents confirmed that Lean principles were not included in Phase E or Phase F Learning Outcomes. Three-year tracer study data (210 graduates from the 2023-2025 cohort) consistently indicated that the construction sector was the primary employment destination for employed graduates. This paper argues that the existing KGSP curriculum provides a strong technical foundation and can be enriched by integrating Lean principles into existing courses, particularly for graduates working in drafter and inspector roles.

Abstract

Community service in Campaka Village, Purwakarta Regency, focused on empowering cadres of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga/TP PKK) to prevent domestic violence, strengthen family resilience, and protect children. Domestic violence remains a social issue that can be influenced by a lack of knowledge, fear, economic dependence, power relations, a culture of silence, and limited access to perceived safe support. The method used was a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design through a community-based psychoeducational intervention. The activity involved 40 TP PKK cadres, with 33 participants completing the pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The activity covered an introduction to domestic violence, family resilience, and child-friendly villages. The results showed an increase in cadre knowledge, as indicated by a higher percentage of cadres in the high category. This activity also included counseling for children and families who are victims of sexual abuse. For future village programs and community service teams, it is recommended to continue implementing ongoing education, mentoring cadres, and strengthening community-based referral networks.
