Abstract

This study aims to determine 1) the level of science process skills of students in classes taught using Discovery Learning models and conventional models, 2) the improvement of science process skills of students taught using Discovery Learning model and conventional model, 3) the effect of using the Discovery Learning model on improving students' science process skills. This research is a Quasi-Experiment using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of all students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar consisting of 11 classes totaling 341 students, the sample was selected by purposive sampling with 2 classes, namely class VIII H as a control class with 27 students and class VIII G as an experimental class with 26 students. Data collection was done by giving Pretest and Posttest. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the analysis showed that 1) the level of science process skills of students taught using the Discovery Learning model is in the high category with an average score of 13.03 and the conventional model is in the medium category with an average score of 9.61, 2) the improvement of students' science process skills after being taught using the Discovery Learning model is in the low category with an average N-Gain score of 0.50 and the conventional model with an average N-Gain score of 0.28 is in the low category, 3) there is an effect of using the Discovery Learning model on the science process skills of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar with the results of hypothesis testing, where tcount = 4.32> ttable = 1.68.

Abstract

This study aims to find out 1) improvement of science process skills of the students of eight grade SMPN 40 Makassar taught using guided inquiry model in the subject matter of work and simple plane, 2) improvement of science process skills of the students of eight grade SMPN 40 Makassar taught using conventional learning model in the subject matter of work and simple plane, and 3) the effect of the guided inquiry model in improving science process skills of eight grade SMPN 40 Makassar taught using conventional learning model in the subject matter of work and simple plane. This research is quasi-experimental research (quasi-experiment) with Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The population of this research is all students of eight grade SMPN 40 Makassar. Sampling uses Purposive Sampling technique so that it is obtained class VII.2 as the experimental class and class VIII 2 as the control class. Data processing result of this study using descriptive analysis, the mean N-gain score of science process skills of students in the experimental class is 0,71 in the high category and the control class is 0,61 in the medium category. Based on results of infertial statistical analysis using hypothesis testing, it was found that Ho was rejected and H1 was rejected so that it could be concluded that there was an influence of guided inquiry learning model on science process skills of eight grade SMPN 40 Makassar study in the subject matter of work and simple plane.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the activities of students in teaching and learning activities on the subject of elasticity of solids after applying the Problem Based Learning model. This article is motivated by the lack of student activity during teacher teaching because usually the learning process only focuses on the teacher. Physics learning is considered important so that students are not passive and during learning takes place. The expected goals in this article are, among others, to increase student activity after the problem-based learning model is applied. The method used to describe problem-based learning activities is Classroom Action Research. The steps applied in this research is to carry out research stages such as planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data collection technique is by recording events during learning and being observed by the teacher or implementing activities through learning videos which are then analyzed qualitatively. Based on the observations of the recordings and the teacher's experience, it can be concluded that students are more active during learning activities, including collaborating, asking questions, answering questions, and answering questions.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative descriptive survey research that aims to describe the problem-solving abilities of class VIII students of SMPN 18 Makassar for the 2022/2023 academic year in the material of vibrations, waves, and sound. The population in this study were all class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar in the 2022/2023 academic year consisting of 10 classes with a total of 267 students. The sampling technique used by researchers is a purposive sampling technique in which the sampling technique is carried out according to the wishes of the researcher with the consideration that is looking at the average value of learning outcomes. In this study, the sample used was 1 class, namely class VIII 8 with a total of 24 students. The research instrument was in the form of problem solving ability test questions. Data collection was carried out by giving students a problem-solving ability test which was made in the form of an essay of 10 questions. The results of the study show the problem solving abilities of class VIII students at SMPN 18 Makassar; (1) on the indicator of understanding the problem in the "medium" category, (2) on the indicator of strategic planning in the "moderate" category, (2) on the indicator of implementing the strategy in the "moderate" category, (3) on the indicator of re-checking in the "low" category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve student learning outcomes on static fluid material. The type of this research is classroom action research with the research subjects were 32 students of class XI MIPA 1 MAN 1 Gresik in the odd semester 2021/2022. Data collection was carried out using learning outcomes tests and observations. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and the average score of student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle was 54.6, the first cycle was 72.6, the second cycle was 79.8 and the third cycle was 83.9. Completeness of learning outcomes in the classical pre-cycle 12.5% in the first cycle of 78.1%. In cycle II and cycle III there was an increase of 87.5%, and 100%. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to determine: (1) the levels of science process skills students of SMP grade-IX in Tamalate District and (2) description of science process skills students of SMP grade-IX in Tamalate District. The research method is descriptive quantitative with descriptive survey research design. The population in this research were 1,677 students from 5 schools with A accredited namely SMPN 15 Makassar, SMPN 18 Makassar, SMPN 24 Makassar, SMPN 26 Makassar and SMPN 27 Makassar with selected samples using the Slovin Formula by Random Class Sampling so that a sample of 413 students was obtained. The research instrument is a test of science process skills in the form of multiple choice as many as 24 questions that have been validated by experts. Data collection techniques in this research is multiple choice tests scored 1 for correct answers and 0 for wrong answers. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that: (1) the level of science process skills students grade-IX of SMPN in Tamalate District at the enough category with the average score of 12.09 by 50.8% and (2) description of science process skills students grade-IX of SMPN in Tamalate District on observing indicators 58% (Good), classifying indicators 53, 35% (Enough), predicting indicators 52.13% (Enough), communicating indicators 58.03% (Good), makes a hypothesis indicators of 50.04% (Enough), the indicator determining the variable 40.76% (Low) and the indicator designs the experiment 34.43% (Low) and on concluding indicators 52% (Enough).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of science literacy ability in aspects of context, competence and knowledge of grade VIII students of A-accredited junior high school in Mamajang sub-district in terms of gender. The sample selected used the Slovin formula so that the sample in this study was 303 students. The research instrument consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that science literacy in the aspects of context, competence, and knowledge of grade VIII students of A-accredited junior high schools in Mamajang sub-district in terms of gender, namely in the context aspect and competency aspects of female students has a higher percentage compared to male students, but in the aspect of knowledge male students have a higher percentage compared to female students. The average score in female students is 13 with the medium category, in male students it has a score of 11 with the low category, this shows that female students have better science literacy skills than male didk participants, although in the aspect of knowledge and male students have a higher percentage.

The population of all students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar consisting of 11 classes totaling 343 students, the sample was selected by purposive sampling with 2 classes, namely class VIII I as an experimental class with 28 students and class VIII J as a control class with 27 students. Data collection is done by giving Pretest and Posttest. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the analysis showed that 1) The level of science process skills of students taught using the Learning Cycle 7E teaching model is in the high category with an average score of 13.00 and the conventional learning model is in the medium category with an average score of 10.53, 2) The improvement of students' science process skills after being taught using the Learning Cycle 7E learning model is in the medium category with an average N-Gain score of 0.51 and the conventional model with an average N-Gain score of 0.29 is in the low category, 3) There is an effect of using the Learning Cycle 7E learning model on the science process skills of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar with the results of hypothesis testing, where tcount = 3.16> ttable = 1.67.

Abstract

This research aims to determine: (1) students' science learning outcomes scores before and after being taught using the TGT type cooperative learning model, (2) students' science learning outcomes scores before and after being taught using the direct learning model, (3) improvement in learning outcomes Science students are taught using the TGT type Cooperative Learning model and classes taught using the direct learning model, (4) the influence of the TGT type cooperative learning model on students' science learning outcomes. This type of research is Quasi Experimental Design research and Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group research design. The sample was selected by purposive sampling and obtained class VII C and class VII D with a total of 33 students each. The research instrument is in the form of learning outcome test questions. Data collection techniques are pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics The research results show that: (1) the students' science learning results before and after being taught using the TGT type cooperative learning model, namely in the pretest, an average score was obtained of 2.84 and the posttest learning result score obtained an average score of 7.07. (2) students' science learning results before and after being taught using the direct learning model, namely in the pretest the average score was 2.47 and the posttest learning results obtained an average score of 4.56. (3) the increase in science learning outcomes for class VII students at SMPN 1 Mangarabombang Takalar who were taught using the TGT type cooperative learning model experienced an increase with an N-Gain result of 0.61 which indicates the medium category. Meanwhile, learning outcomes taught using the direct learning model have increased with an N-Gain result of 0.23 which indicates the low category, (4) there is an influence of the TGT type Cooperative learning model on improving the learning outcomes of class VII students at SMPN 1 Mangarabombang Takalar.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students learning outcomes of XII Industrial Chemistry 1 Rembang State Vocational High School through learning Problem Based Learning model for Chemical Engineering Operations subject. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) to improve students learning outcomes. The method used is a discussion with TPACK-scientific approach. Data analysis in this reasearch is based on Descriptive Statistics analysis with percentage. Technique of collecting data is done by written test, questionnaire, and observation. This research conducted in three cycles. The results of this study showed an increase in learning achievement is marked by the increase of learners whose value reaches the minimum completeness criterion as a whole. In the first cycle is 61,76% or as many as 21 students achieve the minimum completeness criteria. On the second cycle there an increase achieve the minimum completeness criteria is 73,52% or as many mas 25 students. Third cycle increased the minimum completeness criteria is 94,11 % or as many as 32 students achieve the minimum completeness criteria. So, it concluded that Problem Based Learning Models can improve students learning outcomes of XII Industrial Chemistry 1 Rembang State Vocational High School for Chemical Engineering.
