Abstract

The main problem to be studied in this research is analyzing the pattern of mathematics learning difficulties when solving fraction calculation problems for elementary school students. This research aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the pattern of difficulties students face when understanding and answering fraction calculation questions. This study aims to analyze the pattern of mathematics learning difficulties of elementary school students when completing fraction calculation operations. The sample includes 5 subjects consisting of 5th grade students at SD Negeri 4 Mayonglor Jepara. Data collection was carried out through observation, as well as interviews with students and teachers. The data will be analyzed and used to explain the problem being studied. The results of data analysis show that students experience various difficulties in understanding the basic concepts of fractions and the ability to calculate fractions. One of the biggest difficulties is understanding the relationship between the numerator and denominator of a fraction. Students also often have difficulty converting fractions into their simplest form, changing fractions from mixed fractions to improper fractions and vice versa. Apart from that, understanding fractions with different denominators is also a challenge for students. The conclusion of this research is that elementary school students face many different difficulties when solving fraction calculation problems. These difficulties include understanding the basic concepts of fractions, changing the form of fractions, calculating the results of multiplying or dividing fractions, simplifying fractions, and applying fractions in the context of everyday situations.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is a basic ability that is very important to master, this is because critical thinking is an important component in higher level thinking. Students' low ability to understand mathematical concepts is caused by the use of teaching materials that are less than optimal in applying mathematical concepts. Efforts to overcome the problem of students' low critical thinking abilities require developing teaching materials in the form of Student Activity Sheets (LKS). This is what triggered researchers to carry out research aimed at developing live worksheets to improve students' critical thinking skills at SMP Negeri 1 Sarang. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D model. The research subjects were class VII junior high school students with data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires, interviews, observations, documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this research are qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The validation results showed that the LKS met the valid criteria with a percentage of 92%. The practical results showed that the LKS met the practical criteria with a percentage of 82.25%. Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical concepts applied in buying and selling transactions at Pasar Keramat. To utilize contextual mathematics learning, students must learn mathematical concepts from everyday life because abstract mathematics causes difficulties for those who learn it. Buying and selling activities at Pasar Keramat have characteristics that raise the concept of buying and selling during the Majapahit Kingdom, namely using gobog coins. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used methods developed by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study found that the mathematical concepts applied in buying and selling activities at Pasar Keramat use the concept of circle geometry in transaction tools, the concept of basic algebra with the use of the variable gb (gobog), the concept of comparison of value in comparing the value of gobog coins with rupiah, and the concept of social arithmetic.
