Abstract

Hair problems like loss and dandruff (Pityrosporum ovale) are common, fueling the search for natural alternatives. Lantana camara L. leaves, rich in flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, were selected for their antifungal and hair-growth promoting potential. This study formulated and evaluated a Lantana camara L. leaf ethanol extract hair tonic as an anti-dandruff agent (in vitro) and a hair growth promoter (in vivo). The extract was obtained via maceration and phytochemically screened. Hair tonic formulations (15%, 20%, 25%) underwent evaluation for physical stability, pH, viscosity, and microbial contamination, all meeting SNI standards. In vitro anti-dandruff tests against P. ovale used the disc diffusion method, while in vivo hair growth promotion was tested on mice for 30 days. Results confirmed the extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and triterpenoids. All formulas were stable and met SNI. The 25% formula (F3) showed superior microbial safety and strong in vitro antifungal activity (10.7 mm inhibition zone, comparable to positive control). In vivo, F3 significantly increased mouse hair length, comparable to commercial tonic by day 20. Flavonoids and saponins are suspected to contribute to hair growth stimulation. In conclusion, the Lantana camara L. leaf ethanol extract hair tonic 25% (F3) is safe, stable, effective as an anti-dandruff agent in vitro, and a hair growth promoter in vivo, positioning it as a promising natural alternative.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is an important element in evaluating service quality by measuring the patient's response after obtaining health services by comparing it with what he expects. This study aims to determine the variables related to the quality of health services to outpatient satisfaction at the Tepian Baru Health Center, East Kutai Regency. This type of research uses a quantitative research method with a Cross Sectional Study approach. The sample size used in this study was calculated using the Lemeshow formula of 357 respondents. the data collection technique used a questionnaire developed from the dimensions of each variable in the study. The instrument was tested for validity and reliability before use. The validity test showed that all question items had a correlation coefficient greater than the r-table valu (0.361), indicating that the items were valid. Data analysis was carried out in three stages: univariate analysis to describe each variable, bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between service quality dimensions and patient satisfaction, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression to identify the most dominant variable. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant influence of the variables of Access/affordability, Efficiency, Human Relations, Comfort and Punctuality variables on the level of patient satisfaction at the Tepian Baru Health Center, East Kutai Regency. In this study, a multivariate test was also carried out with the multiple logistic regression method to see which variable had the most influence on the level of patient satisfaction, the results were obtained that the most dominant variable related to the level of patient satisfaction at the Tepian Baru Health Center was the Comfort variable with an Odd Ratio (OR) value of 52.367, meaning that the respondents gave their opinion on the importance of the role of comfort having a chance of 52 times related to the level of patient satisfaction at the Puskesmas New Edge.

Abstract

The global burden of type 2 diabetes mellitus continues to rise, and Indonesia is no exception. One of the major challenges faced by these patients is poor oral health, particularly periodontal disease, which can diminish overall well-being. This study aimed to examine how periodontal health relates to the quality of life of individuals with T2DM in South Barito. A cross-sectional design was employed, involving diabetic patients who sought care at local health facilities. Periodontal condition was measured using the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs, whereas oral health-related quality of life was assessed through the Oral Health Impact Profile-14. Data analysis was conducted with a significance threshold of p<0.05. The findings revealed that patients with more severe periodontal issues (higher CPITN scores) experienced significantly poorer quality of life, particularly in domains such as daily functioning, pain, psychological well-being, and social interaction. A significant inverse correlation was identified between periodontal status and quality of life (p<0.05). These results highlight the importance of periodontal care as an integral component of diabetes management to help improve patients’ quality of life.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health, particularly among males, remains a sensitive and rarely discussed issue. Testicular Self-Examination (TSE) is a simple and effective method for the early detection of testicular cancer; however, awareness and practice among adolescents are still very low, especially in Aceh. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing knowledge, attitudes, and behavior regarding TSE among male adolescents. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted from July to August 2025 among 422 junior high school students aged 14–17 in Aceh, selected through a stratified random sampling method. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed with PLS-SEM. The results showed that age and access to TSE information significantly influenced knowledge and attitudes, while general reproductive health information had no significant effect. Knowledge and attitudes significantly predicted TSE behavior, explaining 58.8% of the variance. These findings highlight the need for schools to integrate reproductive health education through outreach programs, posters, and curriculum content to improve adolescent knowledge, foster positive attitudes, and encourage regular TSE practices for early detection of testicular cancer.

Abstract

Alcohol consumption among adolescents and young adults continues to increase. Excessive alcohol consumption can causepoisoning or overdose as well as ventricular rhythm disturbances and fatal tachyarrhythmias, which can increase the risk of sudden death. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between Muslims’ spirituality and alcohol consumption. Cross-sectional design on 100 Muslims who consumed alcohol, selected by using the total sampling technique. Data was collected in April 2025 through online questionnaires by using Google Forms. The Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) (Cronbach alpha 0.94), Muslim Religious Practices (Cronbach alpha 0.80), and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) (Cronbach alpha 0.86) are the instruments for the questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using the Pearson Test (α ≤ 0.05). This study shows that 62% of the population has moderate spirituality, 64% of the population has moderate Muslim spirituality, and 54% of the population were categorized as alcohol dependent. There was a strong correlation between spirituality and alcohol consumption habits (p=0.000, r=0.412). There was a very strong correlation between Muslim spirituality and alcoholism (p=0.000, r=0.927). These findings indicate that the lower the personal level of spirituality, the higher an individual’s tendency to consume alcohol excessively.

Abstract

Mental health is an important component of individual well-being that affects the ability to learn, work, and adapt to life's demands. Students, as a group of young adults, are vulnerable to mental health problems due to academic pressure, social issues, and demographic factors. Digital interventions, such as the Halodoc application, can be a strategic alternative to improve access to information, education, and mental health services. This study aims to analyze the effect of health education through the Halodoc application on improving students' knowledge and mental health. The study used a quasi-experimental design with 51 students from the Nursing Study Program at Muhammadiyah University Surakarta as respondents. The instruments used were the Halodoc application knowledge questionnaire and PHQ-9, both of which have been proven to be valid and reliable. Analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 16.9 to 34.49, as well as a decrease in depression scores from 9.39 to 2.73 (p<0.05). The results of this study prove that health education through the Halodoc application is effective in increasing students' understanding while reducing symptoms of depression. In addition, digital intervention encourages students to be more proactive in seeking information, managing stress, and building sustainable healthy behaviors.

Abstract

Bullying remains a major challenge in Indonesian schools, including Pringsewu, with negative impacts on adolescents’ mental health, academic performance, and social well-being. If not addressed, it may disrupt emotional development and cause long-term trauma. Low self-esteem is often linked to vulnerability, making adolescents prone to becoming either victims or perpetrators. This study aims to explore how enhancing self-esteem can serve as an effective strategy for bullying prevention. A quantitative quasi-experimental design was applied using a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The sample included 100 students from Senior High School State One of Ambarawa, Pringsewu Regency, divided into 50 participants in the intervention group and 50 in the control group. Data were analyzed using paired samples T-test. Results showed a significant improvement in self-esteem within the intervention group (p = .000 ≤ 0.05), demonstrating the effectiveness of support group counseling. The control group also showed significance (p = .017) but with weaker impact. These findings highlight that group counseling can effectively strengthen self-esteem, thereby reducing vulnerability to bullying behaviors. In conclusion, support group techniques and similar counseling approaches can play an important role in creating supportive school environments, enhancing resilience, and mitigating bullying among adolescents.
