Abstract

Quarter-Life Crisis is a psychological crisis period marked by identity confusion, job suitability concerns, social pressures, and relationship challenges. This crisis is influenced by personal and social factors. Failure to pass the identity crisis phase can lead to a quarter-life crisis, which can ultimately worsen self-regulation and impact psychological well-being. This systematic review was conducted to determine how effective self-regulation based on meaning of life and its effects on psychological well-being in nursing student facing a quarter life crisis. The method used was a systematic review sourced from journals searched through the Sage Journals, Science Direct, CINAHL and ProQuest. Included studies (2020–2025). The PICOS framework was used to determine criteria. From this systematic review, of the 1.847 identified articles, ten studies met the criteria for further analysis. This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of life meaning-based self-regulation on the psychological well-being of nursing students facing a quarter-life crisis. Self-regulation, including emotional regulation, learning motivation, and self-efficacy, plays a crucial role in managing academic stress and clinical practice pressures. Students with a strong understanding of life meaning tend to have better self-regulation and higher psychological well-being. Self-regulation based on the meaning of life effectively enhances psychological well-being in nursing students facing a quarter life crisis. A clear sense of life purpose supports emotional regulation, stress management, and resilience against academic, clinical, and personal pressures during quarter life crisis.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) in children presents a major diagnostic challenge due to the paucibacillary nature of the infection and difficulties in sputum collection. As an alternative, blood cell ratios such as Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Monocyte-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (MLR), and Neutrophil-Monocyte-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NMLR) have been proposed as hematological biomarkers that can support the diagnosis of TB in children. This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy of NLR, MLR, and NMLR in establishing the diagnosis of TB in children at RS Adam Malik. A retrospective observational study was conducted using data from the TB DOTS medical records of children aged 0–18 years during 2024. Hematologic parameters (neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes) and the ratios NLR, MLR, and NMLR were analyzed and compared with clinical and bacteriological TB diagnosis (TCM/BTA). Of the 219 children who met the inclusion criteria, NLR showed a sensitivity of 82.3%, specificity of 78.7%, PPV of 84.9%, NPV of 75.3%, and accuracy of 80.8%. MLR showed a sensitivity of 80.8%, specificity of 75.3%, PPV of 82.7%, NPV of 72.8%, and accuracy of 78.5%. NMLR showed a sensitivity of 76.9%, specificity of 66.3%, PPV of 76.9%, NPV of 66.3%, and accuracy of 72.6%. These ratios were significantly associated with TB diagnosis (p < 0.05). The most common clinical symptoms found in positive cases included persistent cough, prolonged fever, weight loss, and night sweats. NLR, MLR, and NMLR demonstrate good diagnostic value in supporting the diagnosis of TB in children. NLR showed the most optimal results, followed by MLR and NMLR. These hematological ratios can be used as quick, inexpensive, and easily accessible diagnostic aids, especially in facilities with limited bacteriological testing capabilities.

Abstract

Handling of auditory hallucination symptoms in schizophrenia patients is very important because schizophrenia is a chronic severe mental disorder that lasts throughout life and has safety risks. Efforts to treat hallucinations other than pharmacological therapy need to be combined with non-pharmacological therapy. The non-pharmacological therapy method that has been present at this time still uses a direct method and requires several components for its implementation so that it needs an update effort with an accessible and efficient method, one of which is the Android-based voice guessing game (GATSU). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Android-based voice guessing game (GATSU) on reducing auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia patients. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group. The experimental group was given treatment with an Android-based mobile phone GATSU 5 times with a duration of 5-10 minutes each time and the control group was given treatment to guess images and sounds directly with 5 times with a duration of 10 minutes. Sample in this study was 30 respondents and sampling technique in this study used accidental sampling sampling divided into 2 groups15 experimental groups and 15 control groups.  The measuring instrument used auditory hallucination rating scale (AHRS) The instrument has through validity and reliability testing and has been declared valid and reliable for measuring auditory hallucinations. The results of the study obtained hallucination scores in the experimental group with a median pretest score of 42 and a median posttest score of 7. in the control group the median pretest score was 30 and a median posttest score of 27. Based on the results of the Wilcoxson test in the experimental group, a P-Value of 0.001 was obtained, the control group obtained a P-Value of 0.255. And in the experimental group and the control group, a Value of 0.001 was obtained . It can be concluded that Gatsu Therapy has a significant effect in reducing hallucination scores compared to the control group.

Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) remains a major complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), with high recurrence and amputation rates worldwide. Effective prevention relies on self-care behaviors, which are strongly influenced by patients’ self-regulation capacity. However, many patients struggle with maintaining consistent self-care due to low levels of self-regulation. This study aimed to develop and examine a self-regulation model based on self-care theory in relation to DFU prevention behaviors among patients with T2DM. An explanatory cross-sectional design was employed with 125 purposively selected T2DM patients in Surabaya, Indonesia. Data were collected on demographic characteristics, social support, illness representation, emotional responses, symptom interpretation, coping, self-care agency (knowledge, skills, and motivation), and DFU prevention behaviors. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized relationships. The instrument used was a questionnaire, and SEM-PLS analysis was conducted. The next stage involved a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and expert consultation for the development of the final module. Social support (T= 3,579, p = 0.000) and illness representation (T = 7,059, p = 0.000) had significant positive effects on self-care agency, while negative emotional responses reduced self-care capacity (T = 4,788, p = 0.000). Self-care agency positively influenced DFU prevention behaviors (T = 7,696, p = 0.000). Coping strategies also had a significant effect on prevention behaviors (T = 2,093, p = 0.000). Demographic factors showed no direct effect on self-care agency. The self-regulation model based on self-care theory demonstrates that psychosocial factors, particularly social support, illness representation, emotional regulation, and coping strategies, play a more crucial role than demographic characteristics in shaping DFU preventive behaviors. This study concludes that preventive behavior for diabetic foot ulcers among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is mainly influenced by psychosocial and behavioral factors, particularly self-care agency, illness representation, emotional responses, and social support.

Abstract

Nurses are healthcare workers with a high physical workload, requiring them to perform various activities such as lifting, moving, and maintaining patient positions for extended periods. These activities can cause repetitive stress on the muscular and skeletal systems, potentially leading to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).  The research objective was to determine the factors associated with Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in nurses in the inpatient ward of the Regional General Hospital. The quantitative research method used a cross-sectional design, with data collection using questionnaires and observation methods. This study used the Rapid Entry Body Assessment (REBA) instrument with a validity of 0.61 and a reliability of 0.625. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire has a validity test result of 0.543-0.768 with a reliability test of 0.720. The study sample consisted of all nurses working in the inpatient ward of the Regional General Hospital in 2025, totaling 164 respondents. Total sampling was the method of sample that was employed. Bivariate data analysis used the Spearman test. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between ergonomic position and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, with a p value = 0.001 and a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.348 indicating a positive relationship with moderate strength. Meanwhile, age (p = 0.064), length of service (p = 0.137), length of service (p = 0.166), and workload (p = 0.598) did not show a significant relationship with the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders in nurses in the inpatient ward. This study showed a significant association between ergonomic positioning and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in nurses in inpatient wards. However, age, length of service, length of service, and workload were not significantly associated with the development of musculoskeletal disorders.

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic health problem that significantly impacts physical and psychological conditions, especially during emergencies in the emergency department (ER). Anxiety in asthma patients can worsen clinical conditions and prolong recovery time if not promptly addressed. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) as a non-pharmacological technique to reduce anxiety in asthma patients in the emergency department of Soeradji Tirtonegoro Regional Hospital, Klaten. This study was conducted descriptively through a case study of one asthma patient with anxiety disorders, using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) instrument before and after the SEFT intervention. The SEFT implementation was structured for 15 minutes, which included the stages of setup techniques, tune-in, and tapping on the body's energy points. The results of the measurements and assessments were analyzed using a nursing care approach. The measurement results showed a decrease in the patient's anxiety score from 17 (moderate) to 14 (mild) after SEFT, accompanied by clinical improvements such as respiratory rate stability and increased psychological comfort. Family support during therapy plays an important role in accelerating the reduction of anxiety and patient recovery. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that SEFT is effective as a psychological intervention to reduce anxiety in asthma patients in emergencies, and can be integrated with breathing education and oxygen saturation monitoring for optimal results.
