Abstract

Perineal pain following vaginal delivery is a prevalent issue that significantly impacts postpartum quality of life and surgical incision recovery. Non-pharmacological interventions, notably thermal therapies, offer a non-invasive alternative to medication. This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of non-pharmacological methods on perineal pain intensity and wound healing during normal postpartum recovery. A systematic search was performed across Google Scholar and NCBI PubMed for studies published between 2014 and 2025. Following PRISMA guidelines, 9 articles were selected for qualitative synthesis. Findings indicate that warm compresses facilitate vasodilation, enhancing blood circulation and tissue regeneration. Conversely, cold compresses effectively induce local analgesia, reducing inflammation, edema, and nerve sensitivity. Both methods significantly decrease pain scores and accelerate the REEDA (Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, and Approximation) healing scale. Non-pharmacological methods are safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based interventions that should be integrated into standard midwifery and nursing protocols to optimize maternal recovery.

Abstract

Health is a fundamental human right guaranteed by various international and national legal instruments, including the 1945 Constitution and Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health. The state has a responsibility to provide adequate health facilities and services to achieve the optimal level of public health. With the development of information technology, innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) are beginning to be utilized in the health sector, particularly in medical diagnosis, as they can improve the accuracy and efficiency of services.The use of AI in medical diagnosis is supported by regulations that encourage health technology innovation, yet it also poses various challenges, particularly regarding ethical considerations, trust, accountability, and the protection of patients’ personal data as stipulated in Law No. 27 of 2022. Additionally, the use of AI requires proper risk management to uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and security.Although regulatory frameworks related to health, technology, and data protection are in place, specific regulations regarding the use of AI in medical diagnosis remain unclear and incomplete. This creates legal uncertainty, particularly regarding liability in the event of a misdiagnosis. Therefore, the development of more detailed regulations is necessary to provide legal certainty and ensure that the use of AI in healthcare services is safe, ethical, and responsible. This study aims to explore the legal aspects of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical diagnosis, in light of Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health and Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection. Patient data is a valuable asset that is not only sensitive but also vulnerable to misuse. The integration of AI in diagnosis requires access to large amounts of patient data to train algorithms and improve diagnostic accuracy. This study falls under the category of normative legal research, which focuses on legal norms found in legislation, legal doctrine, and other relevant regulations. It analyzes the legal framework, expert opinions, and relevant case studies to assess how AI can be integrated into the healthcare system while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and safeguarding patients’ rights. This study investigates the implications of these laws on AI applications in medical diagnostics, with a focus on data security, patient consent, and the ethical use of AI in healthcare. It also examines how AI developers and healthcare providers must navigate these regulations to ensure privacy and transparency. The findings reveal that while this legislation provides a strong foundation for data protection in AI-based healthcare, challenges remain in its implementation.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is defined as a hemoglobin (Hb) level below normal thresholds and is commonly associated with inadequate intake of essential micronutrients, such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, which are important for erythropoiesis. Poor adherence to iron and folic acid supplementation remains a major contributor to maternal anemia. Therefore, internal motivation and healthcare provider support are key factors in ensuring effective nutritional interventions during pregnancy. This study aimed to examine the association between internal motivation and healthcare provider support with adherence to iron supplementation among pregnant women in Karang Tengah, Sukabumi City, in 2026. A correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 80 pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, while adherence was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8), which has demonstrated reliability Cronbach’s alpha = 0.796. Data were analyzed using the Somers’ d test. The results showed that most respondents had moderate motivation (55.0%), perceived healthcare provider support as inadequate (56.3%), and demonstrated low adherence (46.3%). Statistical analysis revealed significant associations between both variables and adherence (p = 0.001). In conclusion, both factors are significantly associated with adherence to iron supplementation among pregnant women.

Abstract

Type 5 diabetes mellitus (T5DM), historically referred to as malnutrition-related diabetes mellitus (MRDM), represents an emerging and underrecognized subtype of diabetes that predominantly affects individuals in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Unlike type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), T5DM is characterized by severe insulin deficiency in the absence of autoimmune destruction or significant insulin resistance, reflecting a distinct pathophysiological mechanism linked to chronic undernutrition and impaired pancreatic development. Despite increasing recognition, variability in terminology, diagnostic criteria, and clinical characterization has limited its identification and management in both clinical practice and research settings. This narrative literature review aims to synthesize current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, and therapeutic approaches of T5DM, as well as to evaluate its distinction from classical diabetes subtypes and its implications for global health. A structured literature search was conducted across major electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, and Google Scholar, covering publications from January 2020 to March 2026. Relevant studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria encompassing epidemiological data, mechanistic insights, clinical characteristics, and treatment outcomes. Due to heterogeneity in study design, populations, and reported outcomes, findings were synthesized descriptively. The available evidence indicates that T5DM typically presents in young, underweight individuals with preserved insulin sensitivity, detectable but reduced C-peptide levels, and minimal risk of ketosis despite significant hyperglycemia. Pathophysiological mechanisms involve early-life nutritional deprivation leading to reduced β-cell mass, epigenetic modifications, and impaired insulin secretion. Therapeutically, patients often require lower insulin doses and may respond to selected oral antidiabetic agents, although evidence remains limited. Significant diagnostic challenges persist, particularly in resource-limited settings, where misclassification as T1DM or T2DM is common.

Abstract

The Family Planning (KB) program is designed as a strategic effort to regulate birth intervals, number of children, and pregnancy for the creation of quality families. In the process of choosing a contraceptive method, the potential for side effects is one of the main considerations for couples to maintain birth distance. However, based on the data, the dominant factor that led to the discontinuation of the use of birth control in all types of methods was the desire to have offspring again, with a percentage reaching 34% The purpose of this study was to find out the difference in fertility recovery after injectable contraception. This type of research is descriptive comparatively with  a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was taken using a total sampling technique  in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria with a total of 62 respondents. Data collection techniques using factual data questionnaire instruments and analysis used using the Mann Whitney statistical test. The results of the study found that the average recovery time of injectable contraceptives was 1 month for 7.37 months while injectable 3 months for 13.3 months with a p value of 0.001<0.05 hai indicates a difference in fertility recovery from injectable contraceptives of 1 month and 3 months. The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in fertility recovery after injectable contraception.

Research methods This use design true experimental post-test only control group in mice white female induced pregnancy (Rattus norvegicus) preeclampsia using monosodium glutamate. Subject study shared become six group, namely normal control, control preeclampsia, control nifedipine comparator, as well as three group treatment extract ethanol fruit Crown of the Gods with doses of 180, 360, and 720 mg/ kgBW. Tissue placenta taken after delivery and examination in a way histopathology use coloring hematoxylin -eosin with infiltration parameters cell inflammation, edema, necrosis, degeneration trophoblast, and cell structure. Data were analyzed using one ANOVA test direction and Tukey's further test. The results of the study show that induction preeclampsia cause improvement inflammation real placenta, whereas​ giving extract fruit Crown of the Gods in a way significant lower degrees inflammation placenta. Dose 360 mg/ kgBW show effectiveness best with description histopathology that approaches normal conditions. It was concluded that fruit The Crown of God is proven effective lower degrees damage histopathological placenta in a way significant in the preeclampsia model.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to impaired carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism. One common symptom experienced by sufferers is polyphagia (increased hunger) caused by impaired energy utilization due to suboptimal insulin function. Furthermore, oxidative stress resulting from high blood sugar levels can exacerbate insulin resistance. Therefore, the use of functional foods high in antioxidants is a potential strategy for diabetes management. Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) is known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, and quercetin, which have antioxidant activity. This study aims to assess the potential of breadfruit as a functional food source of antioxidants in the management of diabetes mellitus based on the results of recent research. This study employed a literature review to examine the utilization of breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) as a functional food rich in antioxidants for the management of diabetes mellitus. Data were obtained from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and PubMed using the keywords “functional foods,” “breadfruit,” “Artocarpus altilis,” “antioxidants,” “diabetes mellitus,” “oxidative stress,” and “hyperglycemia,” with a publication period limited to 2020–2025. Articles were then screened based on relevance, full-text availability, and suitability with the research objectives. A total of 45 articles were identified, of which 20 met the inclusion criteria, and 4 articles were analyzed further. The review showed that breadfruit leaf extract was able to lower triglyceride levels and increase total sperm count in diabetic rats. Furthermore, breadfruit pulp extract was shown to lower blood glucose levels. The combination of breadfruit flour and red bean flour also has the potential to modulate the atherogenic index in diabetic rats. The therapeutic mechanisms of breadfruit are thought to involve antioxidant activity, increased insulin sensitivity, and modulation of lipid metabolism. Breadfruit has potential as a functional food to help control diabetes mellitus and its complications. However, further research is needed to determine the optimal dosage, safety, and molecular mechanisms in greater depth.

Abstract

Non-adherence to medication is still a major problem that has an impact on therapy failure, drug resistance, and increased morbidity and mortality. Multi Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB) cases in Indonesia are ranked 3rd (7.4%) after India and Russia. Through an educational approach that empowers patients through Tuberculosis Self Management Education (TSME) based on Self Care Theory,  it is hoped that it will be able to increase self-efficacy and medication adherence to tuberculosis patients. This study aims to analyze the influence of Tuberculosis Self Management Education based  on Self Care Theory on self-efficacy and medication adherence in tuberculosis patients. Methods: The study used a quasi-experiment design with pretest–posttest with control group, population of 68 with a sample of 34 intervention group respondents and 34 control group respondents with accidental sampling technique. The independent variables are TSME based  on Self Care Theory, while the dependent variables include self-efficacy and medication adherence. The research instruments used were  TBSES-21 self-efficacy questionnaire  and MMAS-8 drug adherence. Data analysis used Paired t-test and Independent t-test. The study showed a significant improvement in self-efficacy and medication adherence in the intervention group after intervention compared to the control group (p = 0.000). Conclusion: There is an effect of TSME based on  Self Care Theory on self-efficacy and medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. This intervention is recommended to be applied, especially TB patients and their families, nurses in nursing services to support the success of tuberculosis treatment.

Abstract

Childbirth preparedness is a critical factor influencing maternal and infant outcomes. However, many pregnant women in their third trimester still experience low levels of preparedness due to a lack of knowledge and high levels of anxiety. Therefore, innovative educational methods such as audiovisual media based on the concept of gentle birth are needed to improve childbirth readiness. This study aims to analyze the effect of audiovisual educational media about gentle birth on childbirth readiness in third-trimester pregnant women at the AHBS Sentani Clinic. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with a control group design. The study sample consisted of 60 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique and divided into intervention and control groups of 30 people each. The intervention group was given education using audiovisual media about gentle birth, while the control group was given conventional education. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner kesiapan persalinan yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data menggunakan uji paired t-test dan independent t-test dengan tingkat signifikansi p < 0 ,05. The results of the study showed a significant increase in childbirth readiness in the intervention group after the intervention (the mean score increased from 1.73 ± 0.70 to 2.47 ± 0.63; p = 0.001). Meanwhile, in the control group there was no significant increase (p = 0.084). There was also a significant difference between the intervention and control groups after the intervention (p = 0.002). Audiovisual educational media about gentle birth has a significant effect on increasing childbirth readiness in pregnant women in the third trimester.

Abstract

Malaria is caused by infection with the plasmodium virus that comes from the Anopheles mosquito. This disease often occurs in the rainy season and can cause morbidity and even death for humans. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, there were 304,607 cases of 247 malaria in Indonesia throughout 2021, this figure increased by 19.9% compared to the previous year of 254,050 cases, Papua is the province with the most cases. The highest number of malaria cases in Indonesia in 2021 was recorded at 275 cases. Objective: determine the pattern of prescribing anti-malaria drugs at the Sentani Health Center (period October-December 2023). Method: quantitative descriptive type. it is an evaluation of the pattern of prescribing antimalarial drugs at the Sentani Health Center for the period October-December 2023 with a sample of 33 prescriptions carried out in October-December 2023 using a technique, namely purposive sampling the Data was obtained using Excel and the processing was analyzed. Result: evaluation of the pattern of prescribing antimalarial drugs at the Sentani Health Center for the period October-December 2023. The highest prevalence of antimalarial drug use in Sentani Health Center in Jayapura regency is DHP (Dihydroartemisinin-Piperaquine) with a percentage of 100%.
