Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of cash flow, dividends, market-to-book ratio, net working capital, leverage and Z-score on cash holding in consumer cyclical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for 2018-2022. The type of data used is quantitative data sourced from secondary data. The population comprises consumer cyclical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, and 23 companies were obtained as samples. The research results show that cash flow, market-to-book ratio, and net working capital have a significant and positive effect on cash holding. High cash flow indicates that cash inflow is greater than cash outflow, thus allowing the company to hold and use cash to finance its operational activities. The market-to-book ratio indicates investment opportunities for the company, opens up easy access to capital markets and allows for easy acquisition of additional funds. Excess funds saved by the company will increase cash holdings. An increase in net working capital indicates an increase in cash balances because companies with high liquidity generally hold large amounts of cash. On the other hand, the Z-score shows a significant and negative influence on cash holding. A high Z-score value indicates that the company is in a safe zone and does not need to hold much cash because its financial condition is stable. Meanwhile, dividends and leverage do not show a significant influence on cash holding.

Abstract

Digital transformation significantly impacts various industries, compelling businesses to enhance their digital presence. In the financial sector, traditional banks and technology companies like Goto, Shopee, and Traveloka are entering the market with digital financial services and are becoming strong competitors. With the growing number of companies offering digital financial services in Indonesia, businesses are increasingly focused on delivering high-quality services to improve customer satisfaction and user experience. This study investigates factors influencing the user experience of digital financial services. Using purposive sampling, the study gathered 112 valid responses from Indonesian users of these services. Findings reveal that knowledge gaps negatively affect user experience, as limited understanding hinders full utilisation of available features. Additionally, high-quality service, characterised by reliability, ease of use, and responsiveness, enhances user satisfaction and trust, leading to a more positive overall experience. However, the study found no moderating effect of internet usage on the relationship between knowledge gaps and service quality, suggesting that other factors may play a more significant role in this dynamic.

Abstract

The flow of change in information technology is developing very quickly and rapidly. These changes have a big impact on human resources. Human resources must improve their competencies and adapt to technological advances. Adaptation is mandatory so that organisations are not crushed by technology itself. Drastic environmental changes and intense competition will place higher demands on a person's adaptability and impact the ability to generate new ideas useful in organisational activities and services, namely innovative work behaviour. The research analyses the impact of innovative work behaviour on employee performance through adaptive technology as a mediating variable. A total of 200 employees tasked with serving Population and Civil Registration data for the City of Surabaya were respondents in this research. This research is explanatory, and the data collected will be processed using structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis techniques. This study provides results that innovative work behavior significantly affects technology adoption. In addition, innovative work behaviour significantly positively affects employee performance. This study also implies that technology adoption influences employee performance and mediates innovative work behaviour and employee performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the profit margin of yellow coconut oil (Coconut Cooking Oil/CCO), a by-product of coconut processing, to assess its business feasibility and sustainability based on local resource potential. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving five informants from Sarmi Regency. Production cost and profitability analyses were conducted using the variable costing method to calculate production costs, while Net Profit Margin (NPM) was used to measure profitability. The findings indicate that selling CCO in the village market yields a higher average Net Profit Margin than selling in the central market. This difference is primarily influenced by higher selling prices in the village, lower non-production costs, and the absence of transportation expenses. Although production volumes varied among informants, profitability was found to be more strongly affected by cost efficiency and pricing strategies rather than production scale alone. From a managerial perspective, the study highlights the importance of systematic cost recording and classification to improve production efficiency and support informed pricing and marketing decisions. Prioritising local sales channels is recommended to maximise profitability and enhance the sustainability of small-scale coconut processing businesses, aligned with local economic potential

Abstract

This study examines the impact of career development on employee performance, with motivation serving as a mediating variable. The primary objective is to understand how career development programs implemented at Agency X Surabaya enhance employee motivation, which in turn contributes to improved performance. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, as well as interviews with HR staff and observations of career development initiatives such as the Talent Pool and Training Needs Analysis, conducted both internally and externally. “Data analysis consists of descriptive analysis using the Three Box Method (Ferdinand, 2006), as well as inferential analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 3.0 software.”. The implication of this study is that agencies need to improve and update clear career development programs and provide additional incentives or rewards for non-civil servant employees, so that it will have a positive impact on employee motivation, commitment, and performance, thus impacting organizational performance improvement. The findings indicate that career development has a significant positive effect on employee performance, with work motivation playing a crucial role in strengthening this relationship. Employees who have access to clear career advancement opportunities tend to be more motivated, leading to better performance outcomes. These results align with previous studies that highlight the essential role of work motivation in improving performance. However, the study also identifies an imbalance in the implementation of career development programs, particularly affecting non-permanent or contract employees who perceive limited opportunities for career progression.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze in depth the effect of profitability, firm age, growth opportunities, and business risk on the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) as an indicator of a company’s capital structure. The research population includes all companies operating in the consumer cyclicals sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2023 period. Through the purposive sampling method, a total of 44 companies that met the research criteria were selected as the sample. Data analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the aid of Stata version 17 software to obtain accurate and reliable results. The findings reveal that profitability, firm age, and business risk have no significant effect on DER. In contrast, the growth opportunities variable has a positive and significant influence on DER. Based on these findings, it is recommended that companies focus more on enhancing growth opportunities, as increased sales and business expansion may lead to optimal adjustments between debt and equity composition.

Abstract

A peaceful and prosperous retirement without financial problems is everyone's dream. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial knowledge and future orientation, mediated by external locus of control, on retirement planning behavior. The study used a quantitative approach. Testing was conducted on 321 respondents selected based on the following criteria: family financial managers with at least two years of work experience, a minimum family income of IDR 4,000,000 per month, and residing in Surabaya, Gresik, and Sidoarjo. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SEM PLS. The results indicate that financial knowledge and future orientation have a positive effect on retirement planning behavior, while external locus of control has a negative effect. These findings provide insight into the importance of improving financial knowledge through various means and enhancing future orientation through pension or retirement programs to improve retirement planning behavior. It is important to note the role of external locus of control, which weakens the influence of future orientation on retirement planning behavior.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of work-life balance on employee performance through employee loyalty at PT XXX. A good balance between work and personal life is considered an important factor in creating a healthy and productive work environment, which can strengthen employee loyalty and improve performance. This research uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 40 permanent employees of the company. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the help of SmartPLS software. The results show that work-life balance has a positive and significant impact on employee loyalty, and in turn, employee loyalty positively affects employee performance. Furthermore, employee loyalty is found to significantly mediate the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining work-life balance not only to increase employee loyalty but also to improve performance outcomes. It is suggested that companies implement policies and build work environments that support work-life balance as part of their human resource strategy. This study contributes to the literature on human resource management, especially in the manufacturing context, and provides practical insights for managers in developing effective strategies to enhance both employee well-being and organizational performance in competitive business environments.
