Abstract

This research aims to analyze the most dominant difficulties faced by the class. This research is qualitative research, and the subject is class. The data collection techniques are observation and tests. Researchers used data analysis techniques developed by Miles and Huberman. The steps are first, data collection; data collected from student observations. Third, data display, there the searcher collects all the information and draws conclusions. The search results showed that 15% of students had difficulty determining the main idea (35 wrong answers). 15.91% of students had difficulty understanding vocabulary (59 wrong answers). Furthermore, 23.41% had trouble in drawing conclusions (56 wrong answers) and 22.22% of students had trouble in identifying detailed information from texts where the number of wrong answers was 40. Factors causing these difficulties were problems understanding vocabulary, challenges at home and school., and the lack of students learning English

Abstract

This research aims to determine the significant effect of Project Based Learning (PjBL) Model on students' writing skills Great Athletes. This research was Quantitative used a True Experimental design. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Kisaran. The research population was all class X students’ of SMA Negeri 2 Kisaran for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The sampling technique used Stratified Random with a total sample of 74 students, namely class X-1 as an Experimental class which used a Project Based Learning (PjBL) Model while Class X-3 as a Control class that used a Conventional Model. Data collection instruments include Tests, Questionnaires and Observations. Before being given treatment, the mean pre-test score in the Experiment class was 54,51 and the Control class mean pre-test score was 50,68. After being given treatment, the mean post-test score for the Experiment class increased by 30,2% to 70,97, while in the Control class it increased by 31,5% to 66,65. The results of the t-test analysis showed that (Ha) was accepted with a value of > or 2,007 > 1,306 and sig. 0,048 < 0,05. Thus, there was a significant effect of the Project Based Learning Model on students' writing skills Great Athletes. Keywords: Project Based Learning Model, Writing Skill, Great Athletes

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Small group discussion Strategy on the Writing Skills of Students X Class of SMA Swasta Al’mashum Sidodadi in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The population of the research is 70 students. The strategy used in the study was a small group discussion for treatment in an experimental class consisting of 35 students. They were asked to discuss with group friends to understand story, then write it in the forms of narrative text while in the control class the conventional method was used, namely 35 students. After receiving the treatment, the student writing skill were getting better. Based on the t-test calculation, the product moment degree of freedom (df) = n-2 35-2=33 obtained thitung > ttable, namely thitung = 3.745 and thitung = 1.692 significance 0.000 < 0.005 (Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted). Keywords: Small Group Discussion Strategy, Narrative Text, Writing

Abstract

This research is about An analysis of students errors in Writing Descriptive text in the eleventh grade of SMA Swasta Daerah Air Joman in 2022/2023. The objective of the research were to find out the dominant errors and causes errors in Descriptive text written by the eleventh grade of SMA Swasta Daerah Air Joman in 2022/2023 Academic Year. The instrument of the research was documentation of the test. The research method was descriptive qualitative research. The result of the research showed that there are 4 types error made by students on their descriptive writing. The total error were 107 error which are divided 62 error or 57,9% error of omission, 23 error or 21,5%  error of addition, 13 error or 12,2%  error of misformation, and 9 error or 8,4 error of misordering. According to the data analysis, the common error made by students was omission. This error occurred when the students omitted components which were necessary for their sentences to be considered grammatically correct. Keywords: Error, Writing, Descriptive text

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of diary writing on the ability to write recount texts in vocation high school students. This study used a quasi- experimental method and used tenth grade vocation high school students at the school as the population in this study. Two classes as research samples were selected for the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class was given treatment in the form of writing a diary and the control class was taught by the lecture method. Pretest and posttest were used as data collection techniques. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the test results t-test showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class students was 70.27 which was higher than the control class score, which was 63.60. In addition, the results of statistical calculations, it was found that the tvalue in both posttest (2.562) are higher than the ttable (1.671) t-test result > t-table in the significance level of 0.05. In other words, there is the effect of writing a diary on the ability to write recount texts for tenth grade students at a vocation high school in Almashum Kisaran. The results of this study are expected to stimulate and initiate further research.Keywords: Writing Skill, Recount Text, Writing Diary

Abstract

This research was conducted at SMAS Daerah Air Joman. It is located at XII market street Binjai Serbangan. This research will be conducted in first semester of grade X students of SMAS Daerah Air Joman in January 2022. This study aims to find out whether there is any effect of using Animation Movie at Grade X of SMAS Daerah Air Joman. The method used in this research is quantitative method. The population of this research was class X students of SMAS Daerah AIR JOMAN. The population consists of three classes. Each class consists of 35 students. The total number of students is 105. From the exiting population, the researcher chose class X IPA₁ as the experimen class with 35 students’, and class X IPA₂ as the control class with 35 students’. The data were analyzed statistically by applying of which t-test. After analyzing the data into t-test, the score was 1,9473. If this consulted to critical score product moment degree of freedom (df) N1+N2-2 or 35+ 35-2 = 68. So, the critical csore of t-table with the significant 0,05 was 1,6676. So, it concludes that score tscore > ttable.. So the research had been successfully. Ha is accepted and it revealed that hypothesis Effect of Animation Movie Dubbed The Last Naruto actually had an effect from these learning activities according to the evidence above. Keywords: Vocabulary, Animation Movie, Naruto

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the significant the effect of using picture and picture model in writing skill about descriptive text at grade X SMA Negeri 4 Kisaran in 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research was experimental research design. The population of this research is the students of grade X. The sample of this study was about 68 students. The  research were X 1 and X 5 which were taken by sample random sampling the X 5 experimental group taught by peer response strategy X 1 as control group taught by conventional way. The study findings demonstrate that the experimental group’s writing ability score for narrative text was higher than that of the control group. Based on calculation of the t- test is the score product moment degree of freedom (df) = n-2 = 34-2 = 32 the results obtained are thitung > ttable, namely thitung = 4,160 and ttable = 1,692, then 4., 160  > 1,692. The significance 0,000 <0.05. (H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted).Key words: Picture and picture, Descriptive Text, Writing skill

Abstract

The research aim to find out the significant The Effect of Discovery Learning Method on Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at Grade X SMA Swasta Alma’shum Sidodadi 2022/2023 Academic Year. This type of research was experimental research design. The population of this research is the students of grade X. The sample of this study was about 70 students. The  research were X IPA 4 and IPA 3 which were taken by sample random sampling the X IPA 4 experimental group taught by discovery learning  X IPA 3 as control group taught by conventional way. The study findings that the experimental group’s writing ability score for descriptive text was higher than that of the control group. Where the mean of experimental students was 0,75 in pre-test. After giving treatment of Discovery Learning Method the mean score was being 0,80 in post-test. While the mean of control students’ score was 0,58 in pre-test. After giving treatment by using conventional technique the mean score was being 0,53 in post-test.  Based on calculation of the t- test is the score product moment degree of freedom (df) = n-2 = 35-2 = 33 the results obtained are thitung > ttable, namely thitung = 3.645 and ttable = 1,692, then 3,645 > 1,692. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of using picture media on students’ writing skill of descriptive text at Grade X of SMA Swasta Daerah Air Joman In Academic Year 2022/2023. The population of this research is the X grade a students of Smasda Air Joman which consist of 3 classes. The research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The subjects in this study are divided into two groups: experimental and control group. The researchers are given pre-test, treatment and post-test in two classes, Sample in this research selects X IPA 1 as the experimental group and X IPA 2 as the control group. The experimental group in X-1 consists of 30 students, while the control group in X-2 consists of 30 students. As a result, the total sample size for this research are 60 students.in relation to the pre-test, the t-test calculation shows that the tvalue in both posttest (3.898) are higher than the ttable (1.701) in the significance level of 0.05 and based on the hypotheses testing criteria, it can be concluded that the tvalue ttable which means that ho (null hypothesis) is rejected and ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. It means the average score of the experimental group is higher than the average score of the control group which indicates that Picture Media have an effect on students' writing of descriptive texts. In conclusion, Picture Media are effective in students' descriptive text writing skills. Keywords: Picture Media, Writing, Descriptive Text

Abstract

This purpose of this study was to find out whether there was role in the application of the REDW (Read, Examine, Decide, Write) Strategy to the results on students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMK-1 Daerah Sei Bejangkar in Academic Year 2022/2023. This type of research is a quantitative research design with two groups pre-test and post-test. The population in this study was all class XI which consist of 2 classes. The research sample consisted of all students’ XI AK-1 and XI AK-2. In class XI AK-1 as and experimental class by using Read Examine Decide Write (REDW) Strategy and in XI AK-2 as a control class by using convensional learning method. After the learning was completed. The post-test was obtained with an average result 75,4 for the experimental class and 58,6 for the control class. The result of the t-test obtained t-test = 8,28  > t-table = 2,011 then Ha is accepted, thus obtained there is an effect on students’ learning autcomes by using Read, Examine, Decide, Write (REDW) Strategy  on student reading comprehension at the second grade of SMK-1 Derah Sei Bejangkar. Keywords: REDW (Read, Examine, Decide, Write), Descriptive Text, Reading      Comprehension
