Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was an effect of using the learning start question method on students' reading comprehension in class X narrative texts at SMK N 1 Meranti in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is a quantitative study with a two-class design, the experimental class and the control class. The population of this study were all students of class X SMK N 1 Meranti. The research sample was taken from 30 students in the experimental class (X TKJ 1) and 28 students in the control class (X TKJ 2). The data collection instrument was in the form of multiple choice tests. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. From this analysis, the average pre-test score in the experimental class is lower than and the average pre-test score in the control class (43.7 > 37.1) while the average post-test score in the experimental class is higher from the average pre-test score in the experimental class. The average value of the control class post-test (88 > 70) and To > T table (5%) = 8.86 > 0.2542. So, Ha accepted.  In other words, the use of the Learning Start Question method is more effective and significant than the conventional method Keywords: Learning Start Question Method, Reading Comprehension, Narrative text.

Abstract

This research was intended to find out the empirical evidence of the students’ achievement ability in writing descriptive text by using Class wide Peer Tutoring Strategy at grade X of SMA Swasta Sei Daerah Bejangkar. This research was experimental research. The population of the research was all students’ of class  X of SMA Swasta Daerah Sei Bejangkar the sample of this research were taken from 32 students’ of experimental group (class X-1) and 32 students’ of control group (class X-2). The instrument for collecting data was a test. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. From this analysis, the mean of experimental group was 84,21 and the mean of control group was 66,25. This research found that using Class wide Peer Tutoring Strategy has significant effect in writing ability. It can be proved by the result of the the analysis that tscore (to) = 19,92 was higher than ttable (tt) = 1,998 with the significant 0,05. So, Ha is accepted. In the other word, the using of Class wide peer Tutoring Strategy more effective and more significant than using conversional strategy. Key words: Class wide Peer Tutoring Strategy, Descriptive Text, Writing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study’s to determine whether there’s an influence in the collaborative writing strategy on the students of writing descriptive text for class X SMK Swasta Umum Sentosa in the academic year 2022/2023. This type of research is a quantitative research with a research design of two groups, pre-test and post-test. The population in this research is all class X which consist of two classes. The research sample consisted of two classes (class Xth AK 1 and Xth AP) which were taken in a random. In class Xth AP as an Experimental class using a collaborative writing and class Xth AK 1 as a control class using conventional learning. After the learning was given, the post-test was obtained with an average result of 80,94 for the experimental class and 54,0 for the control class. The result of the t-test obtained t’count = 19,4> t-table = 0,067811, then Ha is accepted, this obtained there is an influence on student learning outcomes using a collaborative writing on the result of students writing ability of descriptive text for class Xth SMK Swasta Umum Sentosa.Keywords: Effect, Collaborative Writing strategy, Descriptive Text

English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Asahan University. Advisor: Dian Anggraini Harahap, M.Hum. The purpose of this study was to determine there was an effect of problem based learning model by using Canva application on students’ reading comprehension at XI Grade OF SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungbalai in 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research is quantitative research with a two-group research design, experimental group and control group. The population in this research was all students of XI Grade consisting of 10 classes. The sample of this research was taken from 33 students of experimental class (XI IPA 6) and 33 students of control class (XI IPS 4). The instrument for collecting data was multiple choice test. The post-test was obtained with the average results of the experimental group 79,87 and the control group 62,72. T-test results obtained tscore = 7,56> ttable = 2.65 (at 1% significant level) or 2.00 (at 5% significant level). It means that Ha is accepted, thus it is obtained that there is an effect of problem based learning model by using Canva application on students’ reading comprehension at XI Grade OF SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungbalai in 2023/2024 Academic Year. Key word : Canva, Problem Based Learning Model, Reading Comprehension

This research aims to find out is there any an influence in the application of the grammar translation method on reading comprehension skills in narrative text material at grade XI of SMK Negeri 1 Kisaran the 2023/2024 academic year. This type of research is quantitative with a two-group research design, namely pre-test and post-test. The population in this study was all of grade XI consisting of 10 classes with a total of 338 students. The research sample consisted of 2 classes (XI DPB2 and XI MP3 ) with total of 61 students which were taken in random clusters by Ari Kunto. In class XI DPB2 as an experimental class using the grammar translation method and in class XI MP3 as a control class using conventional learning methods. After the learning was completed, a post-test was obtained with an average result for the experimental class of 87,84 and the control class of 72,9. T-test result were obtain tcount=7,926>ttable=1,671 then ha accepted. Thus, it was found that there was an effect on students' reading comprehension ability by using the grammar translation method on narrative text material at grade XI SMK Negeri 1 Kisaran.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an effect in implementing the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) learning model on Student's Skill in Writing of Descriptive Text in X Grade SMA Negeri 1 Meranti 2023/2024 Academic Year. This type of research is quantitative research with a two group pre-test and post-test research design. The population in this research is the entire class X which consists of 4 classes. The research sample consisted of 2 classes (classes X1 and X2) which were taken using cluster random sampling. In class X1 as an experimental class using the Picture Word Inductive Model. In class X2 as a control class with conventional methods. After the learning was completed, a post-test was obtained with an average result for the experimental class of 84.41 and the control class of 71.91.Thus  it was found that there was an effect on student learning outcomes using the picture word inductive model on student learning outcomes in English descriptive text material for class X SMA Negeri 1 Meranti.Keywords: Picture Word Wnductive Wodel,Pwim,Descriptive Text,Writing Skill

Abstract

This research purpoused to find the effect of question-answer relationship (QAR) technique towards students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at X Grade oat MAS Bustanul Uluum in 2022/2023 Academic Year. This research was conducted non-experimental design into pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Population and Sample of this research was X Grade MAS Bustanul Uluum in 2022/2023 Academic Year that consist of 60 students. A multiple-choice test with 20 items was used to collect the data. The score of Pre-Test was 61.62 and after treatment score of Post-Test was 83.18. The minimum score of pre-test was 20 and the maximum score was 80, minimum score post-test was 75 and maximum score is 100. Sign of 0.05, the r-count was 0,256 higher than the r-table 0,214. The alternate hypothesis was accepted, that the QAR technique significantly to students' understanding of reading comprehension in narrative text. So the concluded is Ho >Ha / r-count >r-table/0.256>0,214.

Abstract

This research was intended to find out the empirical evidence of the students’ achievement in reading comprehension on descriptive text by using flipped classroom at the X grade of MAS Teladan Ujung Kubu. This research was quantitative research. The population of this research was all the students of Grade X of MAS Teladan Ujung Kubu. Samples of this research were taken from 30 students of experimental group (class X IPA 1) and 30 students of control group (class X IPA 2). The instrument for collecting data was a test. After analyzing the data, the writer got; (1) The students’ achievement in reading comprehension on descriptive text by using flipped classroom got the mean 81,33 and standard deviation was 5,04; (2) The students’ achievement in reading comprehension on descriptive text by using conventional method got the mean 78 and standard deviation was 4,51. The value of t-observed was 2,729 and that of t-table was 2,009. So, the value of t-observed was higher than that of t-table, it means that there was significant effect of using flipped classroom on students' achievement in reading comprehension on descriptive text.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine whether it is a rule to apply speed reading strategies to the reading scores of students in Class X SMK Swasta Al Mashum Kisaran for the 2022/2023 school year. This type of study is a quantitative study design with her two groups, control and experimental. The study population was all he class X consisting of 8 classes. The study sample consisted of X TKJ 1 and X TKJ 2 of all students. Class X TKJ 1 as an experimental class using a speed reading strategy and X TKJ 2 as a control class using a conventional strategy. After learning is completed. Post-test was achieved with a mean score of 81.33 in the experimental class and 78 in the control class. Obtained t-test result = 2.729 > t-table = 2.002, indicating that Ha's accepted results have an impact on students' reading comprehension of X SMK Swasta Al Mashum Kisaran.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the significant effect of peer response strategy on students ability in writing narrative text at grade X sma negeri 1 air joman in 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research was experimental research design. The population of this research is the students of grade X. The sample of this study was about 70 students. The  research were X ipa 1 and ipa 3 which were taken by sample random sampling the X ipa 1 experimental group taught by peer response strategy X ipa 3 as control group taught by conventional way. The study findings demosnstrate that the experimental group’s writing ability score for narrative text was higher than that of the control group. Based on calculation of the t- test is the score product moment degree of freedom (df) = n-2 = 35-2 = 33  the results obtained are thitung > ttable, namely thitung = 3.745 and ttable = 1,692, then 3,745 > 1,692. The significance 0,000 <0.05. (H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted).
