Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the significant effect of REAP (Read, Encode, Annotate, Ponder) Strategy towards students’ reading comprehension of recount text at grade X of SMA Swasta Alma’shum Sidodadi in 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research was experimental research design. The population of this research is the students of grade X. The sample of this research were X3 and X4 which were taken by cluster random sampling. The class X3 as experimental group taught by REAP Strategy and X4 as control group taught by conventional way. The study findings demonstrate that the experimental group's reading comprehension score for recount texts was higher than that of the control group. Based on the calculation of the t-test is the score of product moment degree of freedom (df) N1+N2-2 or 17+17-2 = 32, the critical value of the t-table with a significant 0,05 is 0,349 and the t-test is 11,03 the research concludes that t-test > t-table and the research had been succefull (H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted).Key words: REAP (Read, Encode, Annotate, Ponder) Strategy, Recount Text, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to increase the students achievement in reading comprehension announcement text by using mind mapping technique at the tenth grade of SMK N 1 Setia Janji. This study uses quantitative method to collect the data. The result of this study shows that mind mapping technique can give the positive impact to students to increse students achievement in reading comprehension announcement text. Based on the result above, it shows that that the Mind Mapping Technique significantly effects on students achievement in reading comprehension announcement text at the tenth grade of SMK N 1 Setia Janji. The study’s findings support the Mind Mapping Technique’s effectiveness improve the students achievement in reading comprehension announcement text. This study is concluded that the Mind Mapping Technique can make teaching and learning process exciting more that it based on the data analysis. The learning process will be enjoyable for the students and students do not feel bored. Students become interactive and enthuastic more as a result of this technique. Reading is one of four skills of language acquisition which students must master in learning english. Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether the strategy picture sequences can effect is students ability in identifying the writing skill of procedure text. To achieve the objectives of the study. The writer conducted a field reseach in which a test simple present tense and that of generic structures of procedure text. The subjects of the study were the eleventh graders of SMKS-1 Daerah Sei Bejangkar. The population of eleventh grade SMKS-1 Daerah Sei Bejangkar are 50 students. The sampling technique used was simple sampling jenuh and the samples were all students at eleventh grade of SMKS-1 Daerah Sei Bejangkar. This research used two classes, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group consisted of 25 students and the control group consisted of 25 students. The experimental group was taught by picture sequences strategy and the control group was taught using the conventional technique. The data were collected by giving a picture sequences in simple present tense test item by asking the sample to write procedure text. The data are analyzed by applying the person product moment formula. Based on the calculation of the t-test is the score of product moment degree of freedom(df) N1+N2-2 or 25+25-2= 48, the critical value of the t-table with a significant 0.05 is 2,01 and the t-test is 9,21. The writer concludes that t-test 9,21 > t- table 2,01. It means that the alternative hypotesis (Ha) of the study is accepted and null Hypotesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be concluded that there is any significant the effect of strategy picture sequences on students writing skill of procedure text significantly.

Abstract

This research used sustained silent reading in the X grade of SMA Negeri 1 Air Joman in order to determine empirical evidence of the students' success in reading comprehension narrative material. Quantitative research was used in this study. All of the class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Air Joman composed the study's population. For this research, samples were collected from 30 students in the experimental group (class X IPA 3) and 30 students in the control group (class X IPA 2). A test served as the data multiple choices method. (1) The writer discovered after evaluating the data that the students' success in reading comprehension narrative texts utilizing the Sustained Silent Reading method had a mean of 87,83 and a standard deviation of 66,19; (2)The standard deviation was 57,34, and the mean score for the students' reading comprehension of narrative texts using the conventional method was 69. T-observed had a value of 6,35 and T-table had a value of 2,009. The fact that the value of t-observed was higher than that of t-table indicates that the sustained silent reading approach had a large impact on students' reading comprehension achievement.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to gather data that would show the X grade students at SMA N 1 Sei Balai were successful in their ability to write narrative texts using picture series. Research conducted in this study was quantitative. All of the class X students at SMA N 1 Sei Balai consisted the data analysis sample. For this study, samples were collected from 30 students in the experimental group (class X-1) and 30 students in the control group (class X-5). A test was the instrument used for collecting the data. The study focuses on finding.  (1) Students' success in writing narrative texts using picture series had a mean of 86 and a standard deviation of 67 after the data had been evaluated, (2) The mean score for the students' achievement in writing narrative text using the conventional methods was 67, and the standard deviation was 55,6. The values of t-observed and t-table were 7,75 and 2,009 significantly. Although the value of the t-observed data was larger than the t-table data, using picture series had a significant impact on students' ability to write narrative texts.

Abstract

The research focused on students’ writing skill in procedure text at grade XI SMKS-1 Daerah Sei Bejangkar in 2022/2023 academic year. The purpose of this research is to find out does the (GI) Group Investigation Method have an influence on students’ writing skill in procedure text. Sampling in this study using Jenuh sampling technique and the samples were 25 students in XI AK-1 and 25 students in XI AK-2. In this study used quantitative research. Technique of data collection in this study are observation, pre-test, treatment and post-test. The instrument of collecting data is an essay test. The results showed that the pre-test average for the Experimental group was 62,8 and post-test 78,8 an increase of 25,48% while the the pre-test average for the control group was 52,6 and post-test 65,4 an increase of 24,33%. The GI Method is an effective way to improve students’ writing skill. This is evidenced by T-test formula for analyzing data, with tscore = 63,33 while rtable (df) 25 + 25 - 2 .= 48 (0,284) so tscore > rtable.

Abstract

The intended of this research was to find is to find out The Effectiveness of Make a Match Model in Teaching Speaking Students at Grade XI TKJ SMK AL-Mashum Kisaran 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research was conducted by using experimental design. The sample of this research was taken by using Simple Sampling techniques with XI Digital as Experiment Group and XI TKJ-2 as Control Group of SMK AL-Mashum. In this research, we used analysis by SPSS 23 on data from 60 respondents and obtained a Paired Sample T-Test (Tcalculated) of 1,361>1,313 Ttable value. As a result, based on the basis of Paired Sample T-Test and Pearson Correlatin, researchers reject the null hypothesis (Ho), which states that there is no significant effect and linear relationship between the effect of Make a Match Model and students' speaking. As a result, the researcher received an alternative hypothesis (Ha) suggesting that there's a significant effect. There is a significant effect  of using Make a Match Model for Teaching Speaking at Grade XI TKJ SMK AL-Mashum in 2023/2024 Academic Year.Keywords: Effect, Make a Match,Teaching Speaking.

Abstract

The intention of this research was to find out the significant Effect Of Social Media YouTube On Students’ Difficulties Speaking English Learning At Tenth Grade SMK Negeri 1 Air Joman In 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research was quantitative research. The population of this study was all class X which consisted of 7 classes. The samples in this research were students X RPL-2 as an experimental class using YouTube video learning media and X RPL-1 as a control class using conventional learning methods taken by Purposive Sampling in sampling. The instrument of collecting data was test. Before treatment, the pre-test was given. The pre-test obtained with a mean of control class is 12,14 and the experimental group is 11,66. While after treatment was finished, the post-test obtained with a mean of control class is 17,34 and the experimental class is 17,97 The YouTube video was an effective way to improve students’ difficulties in speaking english. The result of the analysis obtained that Tcalculated > Ttable score, namely 2.283 > 2.032, then Ha was accepted thus it was obtained that using YouTube has significant effect on student difficulties in speaking english.Keywords: YouTube, Speaking Difficulties

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is effect of the discovery learning model on reading comprehension Assisted With Canva Application At Xth Grade Students' Of SMK Negeri 6 Tanjungbalai In 2023/2024 Academic Year. This type of research is quantitative research with a two-group research design, namely the experimental group and the control group. The population in this study were all X Marketing classes consisting of 2 classes. The research sample was 2 groups, namely the experimental group and the control group which were taken as a total sample because the population was below 100 people. The class X Marketing 1 as a control group using conventional methods and the class X Marketing 2 as an experimental group using the discovery learning model. After the learning is completed, a post-test is obtained with the average results of the experimental group 76.82 and the control class 60.28. t test results obtained tcount = 5,8831> ttable = 2.65 (at 1% significant level) or 2.00 (at 5% significant level). It means that Ha is accepted, thus it is obtained that there is an effect of the discovery learning model on reading comprehension of recount text assisted with Canva Application at Xth Grade Students' of SMK Negeri 6 Tanjungbalai In 2023/2024 Academic Year.

Abstract

This research aims to the effect of project-based learning with the help of YouTube videos as media on students speaking ability procedure text. This research is qualitative research. The population in this research all class XII students’ SMA Swasta Daerah Air Joman total of sample 50 students. Namely class as an experimental class 25 students and another class as a control class 25 students with the sampling technique carried out randomly. There are significant differences in students speaking using project-based learning and without project-based learning of grade XII at SMA Swasta Daerah Air Joman in 2023/2024 Academic Year". The results obtained are T test> T-table (0,05) with df 48. T-test 17,4 > df 2,01. This means, there is a significant difference in the value of the results student learning between classes that apply the project-based learning and those that do not apply the project-based learning. So, the project-based learning is effective and significant on the speaking ability prosedure text.
