Abstract

Someone who is highly sportive tends to have lower self-acceptance as they are more respectful of the rules and referee decisions, even if they are detrimental. They focus more on fairness and integrity compared to personal satisfaction. Conversely, if someone has high self-acceptance, they tend to care less about sportsmanship. This is because they tend to focus more on personal satisfaction and accept themselves whatever the outcome, without the need to question the rules or fairness in competition. This study aims to examine whether there is a relationship between sportsmanship and self-acceptance. Quantitative correlational method was used in this study involving student-athletes in higher education with N=61. Purposive sampling was used in this study. The instruments used in this study were the Construction of Sportsmanship Attitude Scale (CSAC) and the Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire (USAQ). Since the data were non-normally distributed, data analysis was conducted using a nonparametric correlation test with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results showed a moderate and statistically significant correlation between self-acceptance and sportsmanship (r = .426, p = .001). This study showed a statistically significant relationship between self-acceptance and sportsmanship of student-athletes in higher education. This correlation value indicates a moderate relationship according to the interpretation category. This study concluded that student-athletes who have high self-acceptance will have low sportsmanship and vice versa. So the researcher suggested that athletes and students create a balance between sportsmanship and positive self-acceptance. With the right strategies, student-athletes can still have a high sense of sportsmanship without losing self-acceptance. It is suggested that athlete development programs incorporate strategies to balance strong sportsmanship values with positive self-acceptance to support ethical behavior and psychological well-being.

Abstract

Bacground Leg muscle power is crucial for long jump performance, as insufficient explosive power limits maximum jumping distance. Therefore, specific training methods are needed to enhance these abilities. This research aims to analyze the application of single-leg hop and double-leg hop training methods on improving leg muscle power in long jump athletes. Methods a pre-experimental method with a non-randomized pre-test-post-test modified design, measuring samples before and after treatment. The research procedure consisted of pretest using the SBJ (Standing Broad Jump) test, treatment group division using the ordinal pairing technique, treatment stage with single-leg hop and double-leg hop training, and posttest using the SBJ test. Total sampling was used with 6 male athletes aged 15-20 years. Results show both training methods significantly improve explosive leg muscle power, with single-leg hop demonstrating superior effectiveness. For future research, it is recommended to extend intervention duration, explore various plyometric exercise modalities, and recruit larger, more diverse samples from different sports disciplines and age groups. Conclusions implementing rigorous control measures over external variables, including daily physical activity, sleep patterns, and nutritional intake through centralized training protocols or comprehensive monitoring systems, is essential to enhance internal validity and reliability of subsequent findings.

Abstract

Background. Athletes who compete will respond to a lot of energy, thus requiring maximum oxygen uptake and recovery to maximize body performance. This study aimed to analyze whether the athlete's VO2max level affects the reduction in heart rate after MFT. Methods. This type of research used a quasi-experimental study with a one-shot case study approach. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 10 Persinas ASAD Semarang City pencak silat athletes. VO2max measurements using MFT and the reduction in heart rate post-MFT assisted MFT through Active recovery (6 minutes). Data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive statistics and correlation tests. Results showed no correlation between VO2max levels and heart rate reduction post-MFT because the overall Sig. value was greater than 0.05. Although the VO2max level was good and the decrease in heart rate (bpm) post-MFT experienced a good decrease in the 1st minute (24.4), 2nd minute (17.5), 3rd minute (7.4), 4th minute (8.8), 5th minute (5.7), and 6th minute (5.7), Conclusions. The two variables did not influence each other, the two variables did not influence each other, meaning that the VO2max level and the reduction in heart rate were caused by different factors such as the homeostatic adaptation of each individual.

Abstract

Background: Emerging evidence highlights the bidirectional interaction between physical activity and the gut microbiota, which plays a critical role in host metabolism, immune modulation, and intestinal barrier integrity. Understanding how different forms of exercise influence gut microbiota is essential for optimizing health strategies based on lifestyle interventions. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using databases including PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for articles published from January 2019 to July 2025. Inclusion criteria covered human studies with microbiota outcomes assessed via 16S rRNA or shotgun metagenomics sequencing. Animal studies, non-English articles, and reviews without primary data were excluded. Results: Moderate-to-high intensity aerobic exercise performed consistently for at least 2 weeks was associated with increased microbial diversity and enrichment of SCFA-producing bacteria. Exercise also upregulated tight junction proteins, suggesting improved intestinal barrier function. However, responses varied depending on exercise type, duration, individual metabolic status, and diet. Excessive training without adequate recovery may induce dysbiosis and inflammation. Conclusion: Physical activity positively influences gut microbiota composition and barrier function, with potential systemic benefits for metabolic, gastrointestinal, and neurological health. Personalized exercise prescriptions, integrated with dietary and lifestyle factors, may serve as effective strategies for microbiota-targeted interventions in health promotion and disease prevention.
