Abstract

This study aims to understand and describe the dynamics of adolescents’ social interactions and their implications for courteous behavior in Benteng Paremba Village, Lembang District, Pinrang Regency. The phenomenon that underlies this research is the shift in moral and social values among adolescents as a result of social environmental influences and the rapid development of communication technology, particularly social media. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, seeking to explore deeply the meanings, patterns, and social processes that shape adolescent behavior. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies involving adolescents, parents, teachers, and community leaders. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested through source and methodological triangulation. The findings reveal that the social interactions of adolescents in Benteng Paremba Village are dynamic, characterized by the interplay between traditional values and the influence of modernization. Peer-group relations and social media–based interactions significantly shape adolescents’ ways of communicating, behaving, and expressing themselves. Adolescent politeness has undergone a transformation not a complete decline, but an adaptation to modern social contexts. The factors influencing polite behavior include family, peer groups, community environment, schools, and exposure to social media. These findings support Blumer’s theory of symbolic interactionism, which emphasizes that individual behavior is formed through social interaction and value-based control within the environment. The study recommends a synergistic collaboration between families, schools, and communities in fostering adolescent character and politeness through exemplary behavior, socio-religious activities, and ethical digital literacy.

Abstract

The background of this research is that multicultural-based education is considered essential in responding to existing differences. The diversity of schools of thought (madhhab) in fiqh and issues of khilafiyah (jurisprudential disagreement) often become subjects of internal debate among Muslims, which sometimes lead to division. Therefore, education plays an important role in transmitting multicultural values to guide students toward appreciating diversity.This study aims to (1) identify the dimensions of multicultural values found in Fiqh learning at MTs DDI Kaballangan, Pinrang Regency; (2) examine the implementation of multicultural values in the comparison of schools of thought within Fiqh learning at MTs DDI Kaballangan, Pinrang Regency; and (3) analyze the implications of the implementation of multicultural values in Fiqh learning for students at MTs DDI Kaballangan, Pinrang Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach. The data sources consist of both primary and secondary data, collected through observation, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that (1) the dimensions of multicultural values in Fiqh learning at MTs DDI Kaballangan include curriculum and teaching material dimensions, which consist of the values of tolerance, equality, brotherhood, justice, and ethics in social interaction; (2) the implementation of multicultural values in the comparison of schools of thought in Fiqh learning emphasizes tolerance, non-fanaticism, inclusiveness, non-discrimination, understanding the background of differences, ethics in addressing differences, and the promotion of peace and unity; and (3) the implications of multicultural values in Fiqh learning at MTs DDI Kaballangan cover three domains: (1) affective (attitudinal), (2) cognitive (knowledge), and (3) learning behavior.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of pegawai syara’ (religious civil servants) in increasing the motivation of fishermen communities to perform congregational prayers at Jami’ Mosque, Jampue, Lanrisang District, Pinrang Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that pegawai syara’ play a key role as mediators, facilitators, and religious advisors in guiding the community. They provide religious education through sermons and counseling, in collaboration with mosque leaders and local community figures. Their efforts include addressing issues such as limited understanding of prayer, muamalah, and zakat, by referring to the Qur’an and Hadith. Various methods are used to engage and motivate the fishermen to attend congregational prayers regularly. Overall, the religious guidance provided has had a positive impact on the spiritual life of the community.

Abstract

This study addresses three main problems in learning Hijaiyah letters at TK/TPA Hidayatullah Sekkang Ruba, Pinrang. First, many children cannot recognize or distinguish Hijaiyah letters, such as tsa and ba. Second, children struggle to pronounce and name the letters correctly. Third, the teacher mainly uses oral methods without teaching aids, making the learning process less interesting and causing children to lose focus easily. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the Iqra method can help improve children's ability to read the Qur’an. This research used a qualitative classroom action approach with four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study was done in two cycles, each consisting of three sessions. The participants were one teacher and 22 students (10 boys and 12 girls) from group B1. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively. The results from both cycles showed that using the Iqra method effectively improved the children’s ability to read the Qur’an.

Abstract

This thesis discusses the application of the Islamic story method in cultivating the religious spirit of children at Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Nurul Iman Barubaru, Cempa District, Pinrang Regency. The study aims to explore how the method is implemented and whether it effectively instills religious values in children. Conducted as Classroom Action Research, the study involved 23 children (10 boys and 13 girls) and was carried out in two cycles using observation sheets, interviews, and documentation as research instruments. The Islamic story method was applied through both indoor and outdoor classical learning activities. Influential factors included teachers, students, facilities, and the learning environment. The findings show a significant improvement in the children's religious development, with results increasing from 48% (categorized as "starting to develop") in the first cycle to 88% (categorized as "very well developed") in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the Islamic story method is effective in fostering the religious character of children at RA Nurul Iman Barubaru.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the factors influencing the application of the Drill method to increase students' learning motivation, examine its implementation in Islamic Religious Education at MI DDI Utara North Ammani, Mattiro Tasi Village, Mattiro Sompe District, Pinrang Regency, and assess the outcomes of this method on students' motivation and character development. Using Classroom Action Research (CAR) across four stages—planning, implementation, observation, and reflection—the study collected data through student observation sheets and questionnaires. The results showed that both internal factors (within students) and external factors (from their environment) significantly affect the learning process and motivation. The Drill method was applied by distributing question and answer cards to students, pairing them to find matches, and having the fastest groups present their answers in front of the class, followed by teacher-led conclusions. This interactive and structured approach led to a marked increase in students' learning motivation and character improvement, demonstrating that the Drill method effectively enhances engagement and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at the school.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that prioritizes the well-being of its followers in all aspects of life, including the practice of congregational prayer. This study aims to examine the role of teachers in fostering the habit of praying in congregation and the outcomes of such habituation at MTs DDI Pacongan. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews and observations, then analyzed by reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions from the data. The findings indicate that teachers and supervisors play an active role in guiding and monitoring students to consistently perform congregational prayers at school. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers remain actively involved in encouraging, supervising, and participating in congregational prayers with the students.

Abstract

The social environment, especially in daily interactions, has an important role in shaping the character and behavior of individuals, especially during adolescence which is a phase of searching for identity. This study aims to determine the role of religious figures in instilling commendable behavior in adolescents, factors that influence religious figures in instilling commendable behavior, and the impact of the role of religious figures in instilling commendable behavior in adolescents in Tanra Tuo Village, Cempa District, Pinrang Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The results show that Religious figures play an important role in instilling good morals in teenagers in Tanra Tuo Village through religious activities such as ta'lim assemblies. The success of this guidance is influenced by the family, school, and community environment. As a result, teenagers become more aware of Islamic values, behave well, and are ready to become a generation with noble morals.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. They really need guidance and direction to understand their individuality which is filled with selfishness and great curiosity. High curiosity results in teenagers not only getting spiritual nourishment containing religious teachings but also through this study, they can study and explore Islam as a guide to life. This study aims to determine the role of the ta'lim in the formation of adolescent religious behavior in Paleteang District, Pinrang Regency. This research is a qualitative study and in collecting data, the researcher used observation, interview, and documentation methods. As for the data analysis technique, the author used a descriptive analysis technique. The results of this study are; First, the form of fostering adolescent religious behavior in Paleteang District, Pinrang Regency is Islamic counseling guidance. Second, the role of the ta'lim in the formation of religious attitudes of adolescents in the Paleteang District is very significant. Third, the supporting factors of the ta'lim in the formation of adolescent religious behavior in the Paleteang District are high community participation and support from religious figures. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are: the influence of foreign cultures is not in accordance with Islamic norms.

Abstract

This study examines the cultural mechanisms behind the determination of dowries and uang panai—a form of traditional Bugis bridewealth—in marriage practices in Cempa District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive methodology, data were collected through field research, including participant observation and semi-structured interviews with community leaders, parents, and local residents. Data were analyzed through psychological, sociological, and theological perspectives to uncover both normative practices and underlying values. Findings suggest that dowry and uang panai are not merely economic exchanges but are seen as symbols of family honor, social responsibility, and marital commitment. The amount is influenced by the bride’s family’s expectations, with factors such as education, reputation, and status playing a role. Traditionally, decisions were made by elders and linked to arranged marriages. Today, the process is more flexible and negotiable, reflecting socio-economic changes and growing autonomy in marriage. Despite these shifts, dowry and uang panai remain cultural instruments reinforcing communal values and legitimizing unions in Bugis society. This study highlights the interaction between tradition and modernity in Islamic marriage and how cultural continuity persists through adaptation.
