Abstract

The aims of this study was to develop biodiversity learning device as Subject-Specific Padagogy (SSP) containing local potential to strengthen Pancasila Student Profile. The researchers used Research and Development with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) design. The instruments used were interview sheets, validation questionnaires for curriculum experts, content experts and media experts to determine the validity of the product, as well as questionnaires  for biology teachers and pre-service biology teachers as users to determine the suitability of the product with 4 Likert scales. The scores obtained were analyzed descriptively to determine the average value of product validity and feasibility. The research results show that the average validity value for the curriculum relevance aspect is 3.85, the content aspect is 3.61, and the media aspect is 3.70, with valid criteria. The results of trial assessment of biology teachers and pre-service biology teachers show that the criteria are suitable for use with average scores of 3.73 and 3.77. Other findings revealed that biodiversity SSP were developed more specifically to strengthen Pancasila Student Profiles, namely a project module with a local wisdom theme which focused on projects to preserve traditional food and an entrepreneurship theme which focused on the project of processing Muria coffee skin waste into more efficient products and selling value, as a form of optimizing local potential and developing the community's bioeconomy. The activities in this project module are seen as potential in strengthen Pancasila Student Profiles.

Abstract

Since Covid-19 pandemic government requires all educational institution to apply online learning. Therefore, they must be able to use local potential as a learning source as much as possible. One of the local potentials used as a learning source is implementing an inventory of family foodstuffs. This research aimed to determine the type of foodstuff consumed by the biology college student’s families in the Covid-19 pandemic and how to integrate it into the biology learning of biodiversity concept. Data were collected by observing the foodstuffs of  28 biology college students’s families. Every college student recorded the food consumed by his family for two weeks. The data were foodstuffs name, part of foodstuffs consumed and its benefits. Consumed foodstuffs will be sampled, photographed, and identified up to the family level. Foodstuff for every college student’s family were tabulated into Microsoft Excel and collected into class data and then analyzed descriptively. Results showed there were 2 types of foodstuffs consumed by the biology student’s families namely vegetable and animal foodstuff. The most consumed vegetables during the Covid-19 pandemic came from Fabaceae of 15 species and the most consumed animal came from Bovidae of 2 species. Inventory of family foodstuffs during Covid-19 pandemic can be used as a biology learning source of biodiversity. After knowing the taxa of each foodstuff, college students ccould categorize the level of biodiversity. Integrating the environment as a learning source make learning more applicable, varied, interesting, and easier for college students to understand the material being studied.

Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of Interactive Digital Module Physics (IDMP) for additional teaching materials in vector concepts. The IDMP which was developed according to the ADDIE model and its implementation uses the Interactive Lecture Demonstration (ILD) learning model. A total of 65 participants were students enrolled in a Basic Physics course at a university in a special area in the central district of Indonesia. The instrument used to validate the IDMP uses a scale of 1-5 and has a scoring rubric and processing effectiveness data using technique Cohen's D formula. The intervention group was given training assignments in using ILD-based IDMPs while the control group was given ILD-based assignments only. The results of this study obtained data that the intervention group was significantly better than the control group, found there was no significant increase. Cohen's D score in the intervention group had a large impact on the control group of 1.17 with a 95% confidence interval. Furthermore, they get learning experience by providing feedback that the course material using ILD-based IDMP can challenge students to learn independently.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of Islamic values in basic physics subject using the pre-rules method. The subjects of the study are Pre-Service Biology Teachers (PBT) who attended basic physics lectures amount 51 students. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by descriptive analysis. The process of implementing Islamic values is carried out in three stages, namely planning, implementation and evaluation. The planning stage is carried out by developing an integrated Lesson Plan by adding points of unity of sense. At the implementation stage, it is done by instilling divine values in prayer activities and linking the material with verses of the Al-Qur'an. In addition, human values such as discipline and responsibility are also applied. While the evaluation stage through the provision of integrated questions. The response of PBT to this implementation shows that this integration is able to increase gratitude to God and make basic physics subject more interesting.

Abstract

Low-carbon education, focused on CO2 emission reduction, is crucial for preservice teachers to prepare future generations to address climate change. Yet, there is a significant gap in research on low-carbon literacy within this group, underscoring the need for further studies. This study investigates the score of low-carbon literacy among prospective teacher students, addressing the critical role of CO2 emission reduction education in preparing future generations to tackle climate change. Despite the importance of low-carbon education, research on low-carbon literacy in student teachers remains limited. This study employed a survey utilizing a Likert-scale low-carbon literacy instrument. The survey was administered to 113 sixth-semester chemistry education students at Walisongo State Islamic University who had completed the Environmental Chemistry course. Results revealed that literacy of students across the cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains scored 3.367/4, 3.317/4, and 3.288/4, respectively. However, the responses in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains exhibited inconsistencies, suggesting the presence of misconceptions. Robust positive correlations were observed among the three domains; however, the cognitive and psychomotor domains exhibited relatively low correlations. The study highlighted misconceptions about CO2 emissions related to power generation, low confidence in implementing low-carbon activities, and a tendency to choose easier emission reduction actions. To enhance low-carbon literacy, future research should prioritize addressing and correcting misconceptions related to low-carbon concepts. Moreover, strengthening the quantitative literacy of pre-service teachers is essential, enabling them to better understand and assess carbon emissions from daily activities.

Abstract

Observing skills is the first step, and questioning is the second step of the scientific approach. Students ask questions based on their observations. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between observing and questioning skills. The population is students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education who take science courses. The sample consisted of 11 people who were taken randomly. Collecting data on the topic of food digestion, the lecturer displayed a picture of several chickens eating in a cage and around it, there were lots of grass scattered. Students observe pictures and write down their observations, and are asked to write questions. On ecology, the lecturer gave two pictures of tropical forests and newly planted teak forests. Students are asked to observe pictures and are assigned to write questions. On the topic of the respiratory system, the lecturer gave a picture of a family exercising. Below the picture, the heart rate increases during exercise. Data analysis was carried out on the scores of observations and student questions with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test followed by the linearity test. The results were confirmed by a scatter plot and Pearson's product-moment correlation test using SPSS version 16. The results showed a relationship between observing skills on ecological material. There was no relationship between the two skills on the topic of food digestion and the respiratory system.
