Abstract

Apprenticeship programs are considered as an effective learning method to improve the job skills of prospective workers. The Japanese apprenticeship program highlights 5 work principles consisting of Seiri, Seito, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke (5S). However, until now, the apprenticeship program's effectiveness in Japan to foster 5S work principles for students has not been much evaluated. The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the student's 5S performance profile; (2) factors affecting the implementation of student 5S performance in the apprenticeship program in Japan; (3) the benefits of the Japanese apprenticeship program. This study involved 69 students who were apprenticed in Japan. The data collection used a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The study results revealed that the student's 5S performance was considered good during the apprenticeship program in Japan. Besides, the study results also show that ten factors affect student performance when participating in an apprenticeship program, namely self-discipline, technology, equipment arrangement, workplace, job planning, worker characteristics, management support, work type, job characteristics, and the existence of training. . Finally, the apprenticeship program in Japan provides benefits to the development of student work competencies which include aspects of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. This study recommends the need to develop and strengthen apprenticeship programs with a positive work culture that can encourage student performance improvement.

Abstract

Learning behavior at the higher education level has been disrupted more quickly since the outbreak of the Covid-19. The Student Centered Learning method which has become a culture in higher education cannot be implemented properly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of online learning by applying the ubiquitous learning method. The effectiveness in this study is to analyze the implementation of learning and the achievement of vocational competencies that can be achieved by students. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method. The sample in this study were students of the Informatics Education Strata 1 study program, Muhammadiyah University of Riau which consisted of 30 students in the control class and 30 students in the experimental class. The instruments used are learning outcomes tests, learning observations and questionnaires. The results obtained from the research, namely the ubiquitous learning method can be used in online learning at the Muhammadiyah University of Riau and in accordance with the learning information system that has been developed. The results of the ubiquitous learning effectiveness test in terms of the statistical test of the average comparison of the posttest results of the experimental and control classes were carried out, it was obtained that tcount = 3.425 ttable = 1.295 at a significance degree of 0.05. As a form of e-Learning learning method, U-Learning is able to help students to study and attend lectures in areas with low internet network infrastructure during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Innovative and interesting learning should be pursued by the teacher so that students will be more motivated to learn and can get better learning outcomes. In this study, we tried to test the effectiveness of the demonstration method assisted by e-Agenda simulation video learning media on the learning competence and motivation of filing subjects. The study was conducted with a quasi-experimental y with nonequivalent control group design in SMK Negeri 1 Salatiga. There were 62 respondents in this study. Data were collected by two methods, namely tests and questionnaires. Independent sample tests were used for data analysis techniques. The findings showed that e-Agenda learning media can improve students' cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes between students who learn to use e-Agenda learning media and students who learn to use manual agenda. We also found that e-agenda learning media influences student motivation. Thus, we concluded that the e-Agenda learning media can improve students' learning competencies and motivation. In addition, it also affects students to be more motivated to learn diligently. Future studies should explore other factors affecting media effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) find out the comparison of student learning outcomes between the use of learning media of web e-learning and schoology in Web Programming and Mobile Device subjects (WPMD), and (2) find out the increase in student completeness by using the learning media of web e-learning and schoology on WPMD subjects. The research method used is quantitative with quasi-experimental research involving two groups, namely the control and experimental groups. While the research design used was pre-test post-test control group design. The subjects of this study were students of class XII RPL at SMK Negeri 1 Sukorejo. Data collection techniques carried out by providing research instruments and test instruments. While the data analysis technique uses normality test, homogeneity test, and independent samples t-test. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Significant results of 0.000 are smaller than 0.05, which means that learning outcomes in WPMD subjects have significant differences between the control and experimental groups. (2) The results of the study note that the control group experienced an increase in completeness of 11.43% while the experimental group amounted to 94.12%. Increased completeness in the experimental group was higher when compared to the control group.

Abstract

The study investigates public-private partnerships for enhancing TVE delivery towards graduate employability skills during COVID-19. A survey research design was employed. Three research questions and three null hypotheses, tested. Significance level of 05%, the respondents consisted of 139 human resources managers and TVE lecturers. Data was obtained using a structured questionnaire. The reliability coefficient of the instrument yields α = .76, Using Cronbach Alpha. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer research questions, independent sample t-test was employed to test null hypotheses. Findings revealed: Training resources such as an online library, interactive multimedia, digital textbooks and internet connectivity are essentials. No significant difference in the mean responses of respondents regarding the private sector's innovative roles in improving training resources in enhancing effective TVE delivery towards developing graduates employability skills during and post COVID-19. It was recommended that private sectors should be involved in the training of TVE graduates by identifying demand for skills, feeding into curricula development, monitoring and evaluation activities; TVE lecturers should offer quality and effective teaching and learning that will facilitate and promote employability skills.

Abstract

The study assesses effectiveness of teaching practice towards quality preparation of preservice technical teachers for the world of work considering support received from cooperating teachers vis-à-vis: planning/development of lessons, classroom management/control, professional personality/responsibility, teaching skills, number of periods and challenges confronting preservice teachers, were investigated. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Data were obtained using a structured questionnaire from the sample of 82 preservice technical teachers. The collected data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test and ANOVA to test hypotheses at 0.05% level of significance. The study found that supports and training have positive impacts on preservice technical teachers with vis-a-vis training domains towards quality preparation. However, the study shows that gender and school type does not influence preservice technical teachers’ perception regards to support and training. Consequently, the study recommended that schools administrators and cooperating teachers should increase acceptability and guidance of preservice teachers, work out modalities with institutions to ensure quality preparation of teachers for the world of work, challenges identified should be taken care of to improve preservice teachers’ competence

Abstract

Assessment is an integral part of an outcome-based education (OBE) system. It helps ensuring student learning and ultimately attaining the expected outcomes at the time of graduation. Records of assessment results enable a study program to conduct continual improvement of its education activities. This paper reports the development of an information system and technology that helped Civil Engineering Program of Islamic University of Indonesia to ensure Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) attainment by its students in its gear towards obtaining an international accreditation. The system was implemented as an online web application that includes students, faculty, student advisors, and program manager as the users. The system allows to, firstly, define the PLOs, their performance indicators (PI), and the scoring system of PLO attainment, including setting up of required minimum attainment level. Secondly, for each PLO, a road map that defines the structural relationship between all PLO PIs and the selected courses throughout the semesters in which those indicators are to be measured (i.e. as course learning outcomes) must be defined. Once these relationships are firmly fixed and mapped, the system is ready to assist the program manager, student advisors, and individual students to conduct monitoring and evaluation (self-evaluation in student’s case) of program and course learning outcomes achievement. System’s important features are highlighted along with discussion on development strategies, current operational status, as well as challenges for future development.
