Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce the media for ecology course with biological waste testing study based of fish industry in Muncar toward Artemia salina by using inquiry based learning consisting of lecture plan semester (RPS), lesson plans (RPP), module, students’ answer sheet (LKM), and evaluation instrument of critical thinking skills and solving problem to improve critical thinking skills and problem solving. This developing study uses ADDIE developing model. This developing model consists of five steps namely analyzing step, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating. The data of this study is in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data is obtained from evaluation score toward validation sheet of learning media and students’ response on questionnaire. Meanwhile, qualitative data is obtained from the suggestion from the experts of validation and the students. The result of the study and the developing of learning media are in the form of RPS, module, LKM, and evaluation instrument of critical thinking ability and problem solving have a very good qualification and there is no need revision. Abstract

Cell biology is one of the important subjects in the Department of Biology, with a material very much but the practicum has not been implemented because of limited funding. The solution is to use bioinformatics. Methods used for validation is to use a questionnaire validation to validator matter experts, media experts and validator validator individuals. The results of the validation of subject matter experts is 77,6 with a decent quality aspects categories, media expert is 89,5 with a very decent quality aspects categories and individual validator is 80,6 with a decent quality aspects categories. Therefore, to meet the criteria of an excellent book needs to do some revisions.

Abstract

Problem-based learning is often contrasted with conventional learning. Since it used to reform learning routine educators in the past ten years (See: Cifti, 2015; Nurjanah, 2014; Ananth & Rusiyanto, 2012; Folashade & Akinbobola, 2009; Mergendoller, et al., 2006). Research by Cifti (2015) and Mergendoller (2006) stated that the Problem Based Learning is proven able to increase the attention and interest of students. However, Problem Based Learning becomes ineffective if students were not interested in the problems to be solved. Therefore, it takes the role of instructional media to stimulate student interest. Media which could be integrated in learning are media, photo, video, text, posters and PowerPoint. Based on the alternative media above, PowerPoint is selected to support the model of Problem Based Learning. PowerPoint is assumed as appropriate media to address these issues.

Abstract

Many research studies separately investigated the science process skills between basic process skills and integrated skills. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a research regarding science process skills that combined basic skills and integrated skills utilizing Levels of Inquiry model to teach the material of the characteristics and classification of living things. This study employed a mixed methods design of embedded to the seventh grade students of SMPN 9 Pontianak. The data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The research findings showed that the Levels of Inquiry model could train and develop students’ science process skills from less skilled to highly skilled. Pretest and posttest results showed significant improvement with N-gain of 0.67 which means that the improvement was in the level of fair.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aims to determine: (1) differences of students’ communication skill between PDEODE learning and conventional learning, (2) differences of students’ communication skill between those at higher and lower academic abilities, and (3) the communication skill of students due to the interaction between learning strategy and academic ability. The research design was a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control design. Data were obtained by the pretest and posttest using essay test. Data were analyzed using ANACOVA Test. The data analysis showed that learning strategy, academic ability, as well as interaction between learning strategy and academic ability affect the students’ communication skill significantly.

Abstract

This development research aims to develop student's worksheet matrix multiplication-based guided discovery in class X SMK valid, practical, and effective. The development of this student worksheets using the 4-D model of development that consists of four stages, but in the development of the student worksheet is only going to be done until the third stage only. The subject of trials on the research development of this student worksheets are grade X SMK Putra Indonesia Malang. Based on the results of the validation of worksheets students validated by the three validator experts and practitioners, the student worksheet developed meet the category is valid. Based on the results of observation of its student worksheet demonstrates that levels of student worksheet demonstrates reach the high category, so the student worksheet developed meet the practical category. Average rating based on mastery of the whole class learning materials namely 76, guided discovery that include categories and student response against the student worksheet include positive categories, so the student worksheet developed meet the category effectively. Thus the student worksheets multiplication matrix-based discovery of social interactions in class X generated already meet the category is valid, practical, and effective.
