Abstract

Growing the character of love traditional culture needs to be done from the early age, in the midst of the development of technology and the global culture which have allegedly shifted traditional culture. Learning activities at primary education must provide easy access to continue to love and realize the ownership of the wealth of traditional culture, which can be pursued through the use of technology. The problems of this research are, first, whether techers could determine the subject, basic competencies, and indicators that taught about literary works to introduce culture and character; and second, what learning media was widely used by teachers in teaching literary works especially folklore. An online survey was conducted on 15 teachers teaching at primary level in West Java Province, which include  Majalengka, Tasikmalaya, Garut, Ciamis, Cirebon, West Bandung, Bandung, and Sukabumi regions. This research found that first, basic competencies indicators for folklore materials in the curriculum of Bahasa Indonesia subject at elementary school/madrasa had already been included at every grade level. Second, the basic competencies were included in Bahasa Indonesia, English, Sundanese, and Cultural Arts subjects at junior secondary level. Third,  the learning media supporting folklore consisted of digital media (46.7%) and printed media (86.7%) which indicated that the learning media that was often accessed for the achievement of basic competencies at each grade level to cultivate the character of love Indonesian culture was printed media.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pengaruh penggunaan media buku cerita bergambar terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar, (2) pengaruh penggunaan media buku cerita bergambar terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar, dan (3) pengaruh penggunaan media buku cerita bergambar terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD N se-Kecamatan Prambanan Sleman, Yogyakarta yang telah menerapkan Kurikulum 2013. Sampel penelitian adalah 84 siswa SD Negeri Delegan 2, SD Negeri Delegan 3, dan SD Negeri Dadapsari.  Sampel penelitian dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan buku cerita bergambar dan kelas kontrol menggunakan buku kurikulum 2013. Kelas eksperimen berjumlah 56 siswa dan kelas kontrol berjumlah 28 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan hasil belajar siswa adalah lembar kuisoner tes tertulis. Teknik analisis menggunakan uji Paired Sample t-Test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) buku cerita bergambar berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dengan hasil nilai Sig (2-tailed) pada kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai t hitung (9,346) t tabel (2,05) dan, (2) buku cerita bergmbar berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar, dengan uji t menunjukkan nilai t hitung (13,914) t tabel (2,05).   Simpulan yang dihasilkan adalah bahwa buku cerita bergambar berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Hasil uji efektifitas diketahui persentase peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen mempunyai peningkatkan lebih baik dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Kata Kunci : buku cerita bergambar, kemampuan membaca pemahaman, hasil belajar

Abstract

AbstractResponding to compliments has the potential to cause a polemic for its speakers. Either responding with acceptance at the risk that it would be considered as arrogant or responding with rejection at the risk of disrespecting the interlocutor's opinion of the compliment’s content is where the polemic lies. How Japanese language learners in Indonesia respond to complimentary speech acts is the question addressed in this research. This research is a descriptive study aimed at finding the characteristics of responses given by Japanese language learners in Indonesia to complementary speech acts. The respondents are Japanese language learners with Javanese backgrounds, currently studying at university level in Central Java and Yogyakarta. Data obtained from 53 respondents resulted in 636 speeches of compliment responses obtained using the ODCT. Based on the results of the data analysis, acceptance responses to compliments were found to be very high, reaching 65 percent of all data. Subsequently, an interesting finding was revealed in the context of compliment pertaining to ability in every context of relationship between the speech participants, wherein most of the respondents rejected the compliment in the respective relationship context, which differs with the context of compliments pertaining to appearance, possession, and personal traits. Keywords: compliment, compliment response, acceptance, rejection, deflection Merespon tuturan pujian berpotensi menimbulkan polemik bagi penuturnya. Apakah ditangapi dengan penerimaan dengan resiko akan dianggap sombong atau ditanggapi dengan penolakan dengan resiko dianggap tidak menghargai pendapat mitra tutur terhadap isi pujian. Dalam masyarakat Jepang, tanggapan tuturan pujian berupa penolakan dinilai sebagai sebuah “kebiasaan”. Namun demikian, bagaimana tuturan pujian ditanggapi oleh para pembelajar bahasa Jepang di Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menemukan karakteristik tanggapan pujian pembelajar bahasa Jepang di Indonesia. Respondennya merupakan pembelajar bahasa Jepang dengan latar belakang sebagai orang Jawa, dan sedang menempuh pendidikan di tingkat universitas di area Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta. Data yang diperoleh dari 53 orang responden tersebut menghasilkan 636 tuturan tanggapan pujian yang diperoleh dengan metode ODCT (oral-discourse completion task). Berdasarkan hasil analisis terhadap data, diperoleh temuan diantaranya tanggapan penerimaan terhadap tuturan pujian sangat tinggi, mencapai 65 persen dari keseluruan data. Kemudian, temuan yang menarik adalah pada konteks isi tuturan pujian terhadap kemampuan di tiap konteks hubungan antar peserta tutur (hubungan simetris, hubungan asimetris-dekat, dan hubungan asimetris-jauh) tuturan penolakan merupakan jawaban terbanyak pada masing-masing konteks tersebut, dan hal tersebut berbeda dengan konteks tuturan pujian terhadap penampilan, kepemilikan, dan perilaku individuKata kunci: tuturan pujian, tanggapan pujian, penerimaan, penolakan, pengalihan

Abstract

Symbolic violence is violence that occurs subtly and unconsciously, so that there is no resistance from the party being dominated. The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the form of symbolic violence and (2) to describe the factors of symbolic violence in the novel Luka Perempuan Asap by Nafi'ah Al-Ma'rab in the perspective of sociological literature. This study uses a sociological literary approach that focuses on symbolic violence according to Pierre Bourdieu. The source of research data is the novel Luka Perempuan Asap by Nafi'ah Al-Ma'rab. The research data is in the form of story sequences such as narratives, sentences, and paragraphs that represent symbolic violence. The results showed that (1) forms of symbolic violence were characterized by euphemization and censorship mechanisms. The forms of euphemization mechanisms include obligation, efficiency, image, bonus giving, trust, and kindness. Meanwhile, the forms of sensory mechanism are in the form of marginalization, coercion, threats, and disappointments. (2) The factors causing symbolic violence in the novel Luka Perempuan Asap by Nafi'ah Al-Ma'rab are due to economic capital in the form of money, cultural capital in the form of achievement, while symbolic capital is in the form of titles and social status.

Abstract

Sosok Cut Nyak Dien sangat penting dalam konstelasi sejarah panjang perjuangan rakyat Indonesia, khususnya dalam perang melawan Belanda. Sebagai seorang perempuan Aceh, keberanian dan kecerdasan yang ia miliki selama hidupnya meruntuhkan persepsi masyarakat berbudaya patriarki yang masih melihat perempuan sebagai makhluk yang lemah tidak berdaya dan hanya diposisikan sebagai pelengkap. Perjalanan hidup sosok Cut Nyak Dien yang penuh keberanian telah banyak dijadikan tema dalam berbagai karya, salah satunya adalah film. Film Tjoet Nja'Dhien yang rilis pada tahun 1988 merupakan salah satu karya terbaik yang mengangkat kisah hidupnya. Film ini cukup sukses di masanya karena telah berhasil membawa dunia perfilman Indonesia pada festival film Cannes pada tahun 1989. Walaupun film ini diproduksi di era Orde Baru yang diwarnai dengan nilai-nilai patriarki, tetapi film ini justru berhasil mengusung nilai-nilai feminisme alternatif melalui representasi Cut Nyak Dien sebagai tokoh utama. Dengan demikian, tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana representasi sosok Cut Nyak Dien dalam mengusung nilai-nilai feminisme alternatif sebagai perempuan yang terikat pada adat istiadat dan nilai-nilai keislaman dalam film Tjoet Nja'Dhien. Melalui konsep agensi perempuan yang diusung Saba Mahmood, penelitian ini akan menemukan tujuan penelitian tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Cut Nyak Dien telah berhasil mengusung nilai-nilai feminisme Islami alternatif melalui Representasi Cut Nyak Dien.

Abstract

This research aims at capturing and characterizing clause complexes in Lampung language by considering the structure and conjunction. Here, it focuses on paratactic configuration. A Lampung paratactic configuration consists of two or more independent clauses and is also recognized by the presence of conjunction and punctuation. The conjunction bridges two or more clauses in clause complexes and signs a relation between and among those clauses. There are six conjunctions found; those are ‘ghik’, ‘kidang’, ‘tapi’, ‘sedengko’, ‘jadi’, and ‘bahko’. Regarding how those conjunctions relate clauses, this research found four types of relation; those are additional relation realized by ‘ghik’ and ‘bahko’, comparative and contrastive relation performed by ‘kidang’, ‘tapi’, ‘sedengko’ and then consequential relation shown by ‘jadi’. Other than conjunction, the punctuation is also found to connect clauses; it is comma. It is noteworthy that comma connects two independent clauses and semantically construes additional relation since comma is found in configuration of two clauses in which a clause adds more detail information or more explanation for another one. Besides, comma is also found in a paratactic configuration consisting of three clauses, here it is configured with a conjunction such as ‘ghik’. Furthermore, this research also found four variants of paratactic configuration; those are Independent clause - conjunction - Independent clause; Independent clause - conjunction - Independent clause + dependent clause; Independent clause + Dependent cause - conjunction - Independent clause; Independent clause + Dependent clause - conjunction - Independent clause + Dependent clause.

Abstract

Kelokalitasan suatu daerah dapat ditelusuri melalui karya sastra berupa cerpen yang memotret keunikan budaya. Madura sebagai daerah dengan ragam budaya yang kental dapat dipelajari dan diulas lebih lanjut melalui cerpen-cerpen karya penulis Madura. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura dalam cerpen-cerpen karya Muna Masyari menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi dokumen. Sebagai dokumen, karya sastra digunakan untuk menelusuri rekam budaya masyarakat. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa kata-kata dan kalimat yang menunjukkan narasi dan perilaku yang memuat nilai lokalitas budaya Madura yang kuat berupa carok, pemaknaan hantaran dalam pernikahan, serta ritual tari yang berhubungan dengan mitos di masyarakat. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerpen Martabat Kematian karya Muna Masyari dan dipilih 3 cerpen berjudul Celurit Warisan, Rumah Hantaran, dan Topeng Gulur. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data dengan menyeleksi, mengklasifikasi, dan mengorganisasikan data sesuai fokus tujuan; penyajian data dengan menyusun, menyajikan dan membahas temuan; serta simpulan dengan menarik hubungan temuan dan pengambilan tindakan. Hasil analisis data dan pembahasan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura, meliputi: (1) budaya carok masyarakat Madura, (2) pemberian hantaran pada mempelai wanita, dan (3) ritual meminta hujan masyarakat Madura. Muna Masyari dengan penggambaran cerita yang detail mampu memperkenalkan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura melalui sikap-sikap tokoh terhadap adat yang berlaku di masyarakat. Paparan mengenai nilai lokalitas budaya Madura dapat dimanfaatkan pembaca untuk mengenal dan menggali budaya Madura serta dapat meningkatkan kecintaan pembaca mempelajari budaya antardaerah.Kata Kunci: nilai lokalitas, carok, hantaran, mitos The value of Madura cultural locality in Muna Masyari's short storiesAbstractThe locality of an area can be searched through literary works in the form of poetry that reflect the culture. Madura as an area with a variety of cultures that can be studied and studied further through a book by the author of Madura. This study aims to describe the value of Madurese cultural locality in Muna Masyari's short stories using a qualitative approach to document study. As documents, literary works are used to trace the cultural track record of the community. The data collected are in the form of words and sentences that show narratives and behaviors that contain strong local values of Madurese culture in the form of carok, the meaning of delivery in marriage, as well as dance rituals related to myths in society. The source of the data for this research is a collection of short stories entitled Dignity of Death by Muna Masyari and selected 3 short stories entitled Celurit Heritage, Rumah Hantaran, and Topeng Gulung. The data analysis technique was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction by selecting, classifying, and organizing data according to the focus of the objective; presenting data by compiling, presenting and discussing findings; and conclusions by drawing the relationship between the findings and taking action. The results of data analysis and discussion of the value of Madurese cultural locality, include: (1) the carok culture of the Madurese community, (2) giving gifts to the bride, and (3) the ritual of asking for rain for the Madurese community. Muna Masyari with a detailed story depiction is able to introduce the value of Madurese cultural locality through the attitudes of leaders towards the prevailing customs in society. Exposure to the value of Madurese cultural locality can be used by readers to recognize and explore Madurese culture and can increase the reader's love of studying interregional culture.Keywords: locality value, carok, delivery, myth

Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the profiles of undergraduate students at the English Language Education Study Program of Yogyakarta State University. One hundred and one (101) students participated in this survey research. The data were collected through a reading attitude survey adapted from McKenna’s survey. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) were the main data analyses. Results from CFA confirmed that the 25 items from the survey converged into 6 factors: attitude in academic reading in print, attitude in academic reading online, attitude in academic reading in social media, attitude in recreational reading in print, attitude in recreational reading online, and attitude in recreational reading in social media reading. Then, a 2-profile solution from LPA led to a conclusion that the students can be divided into two groups, i.e. students with positive attitude towards reading in one group and students with less positive attitude towards reading in the other group.Keywords: reading attitude, latent profile analysis, reading modeProfil sikap membaca mahasiswa S1AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil mahasiswa program sarjana pada Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Seratus satu (101) siswa berpartisipasi dalam penelitian survei ini. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei sikap membaca yang diadaptasi dari survei McKenna. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini antara lain Faktor Konfirmatori (CFA) dan Analisis Profil Laten (LPA). Hasil dari CFA menegaskan bahwa 25 item dari survei berkumpul menjadi 6 faktor: sikap dalam membaca akademik di media cetak, sikap dalam membaca akademik online, sikap dalam membaca akademik di media sosial, sikap dalam membaca rekreasi di media cetak, sikap dalam membaca rekreasi online, dan sikap dalam membaca rekreasional dalam membaca media sosial. Kemudian, solusi 2 profil dari LPA menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa siswa dapat dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu siswa dengan sikap positif terhadap membaca dalam satu kelompok dan siswa dengan sikap kurang positif terhadap membaca di kelompok lain.Kata kunci: sikap membaca, analisis profil laten, mode membaca

Abstract

Writing scientific papers is influenced by several things, including grammatical problems, linguistic problems, technical aspects of writing, and plagiarism aspect. Gender factors are indicated to contribute to plagiarism behavior because men and women are assumed to have different attitudes and style in perceiving an idea. This study aims to obtain the correlation among the plagiarism awareness, gender, the expository essay of the capability in composing it. This study uses a quantitative approach with the correlational method. Questionnaires and composing of the text tests were conducted to get the results of the research. Research respondents were 24 postgraduate students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University of Postgreaduate Program of English Education, consisting of 12 males and 12 females. From the data analysis, it was found that: First, the relationship between plagiarism awareness and expository essay writing skills is 0.783 ( 0.05). It means that there was no tight relation among plagiarism alarming of expository essay writing skills. Second, the tight relation among gender and expository essay composing skills is 0.783 ( 0.05). That is, gender also does not provide a significant contribution to the skill of writing an expository essay. Third, the value of R square among students' plagiarism awareness (X1), gender (X2), and expository essay writing skills (Y) is 0.011 (1.1%). It means that expository essay writing skills are influenced by awareness of plagiarism and different category by 1.1% and 98.9% is affected by different variations. Although the contribution is low, these variations played significant roles in expository essay composing skills. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi seperti gender diindikasikan berkontribusi dalam perilaku plagiarisme, karena pada faktanya, laki-laki dan perempuan diasumsikan memiliki sikap berbeda dalam mempersepsi suatu ide. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan hubungan antara kesadaran plagiarisme, jenis kelamin, dan keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan mengimplementasikan sub desain penelitian korelasional. Dalam proses pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa angket dan tes kemampuan menulis. Responden penelitian adalah 24 mahasiswa Pascasarjana Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, yang terdiri atas 12 laki-laki dan 12 perempuan. Dari hasil pembahasan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal. Pertama, hubungan kesadaran plagiarisme dengan keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori sebesar 0,783 ( 0,05). Artinya, tidak ada hubungan antara kesadaran plagiarisme dengan keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori. Kedua, hubungan jenis kelamin dengan keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori sebesar 0,783 ( 0,05). Artinya, jenis kelamin tidak memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori. Ketiga, nilai R square antara kesadaran plagiarisme siswa (X1), jenis kelamin (X2), dan keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori (Y) sebesar 0,011 (1,1%). Artinya, keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori dipengaruhi oleh kesadaran plagiarisme dan gender sebesar 1,1%, sedangkan 98,9% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain. Meskipun kontribusinya rendah, kedua variabel tersebut tetap berperan dalam keterampilan menulis esai ekspositori. Abstract

This study aims to identify the persuasive discourse used by Risma during her speech in the firsthand takeover of her position as Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs. Teun Van Dijk theory is chosen in this study due to the purpose of this study is critical discourse analysis. Teun Van Dijk theory divides three parts of critical discourse analysis; macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. During her speech, Risma used persuasive utterances to influence the audiences of the staffs in the Ministry of Social Affairs Indonesia. This research designed in qualitative approach. The researcher used content analysis combined with Teun Van Dijk theory in critical discourse analysis in analyzing the data. The findings showed that Risma eventually used particular expression to persuade the audiences. Risma tended to give examples related to the job function of Ministry of Social Affairs. These actions were supposed to engage the staffs work well at the government institution. This study contributes the future researchers to dig up critical discourse analysis in depth.Keywords: political, persuasive, critical discourse analysis, RismaPidato persuasif politis menteri sosial Indonesia: Analisis wacana kritisAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi wacana ajakan yang digunakan oleh Risma selama pidatonya dalam serah terima jabatan sebagai Menteri Sosial Indonesia. Teori Teun Van Dijk dipilih dalam penelitian ini dikarenakan tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah analisis wacana kritis. Teori Teun Van Dijk membagi tiga bagian analisis wacana kritis, yaitu makrostruktur, superstruktur, dan mikrostruktur. Selama pidatonya, Risma menggunakan ucapan yang mengandung ajakan untuk mempengaruhi peserta yang mana mereka adalah staf Kementerian Sosial Indonesia. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan analisis isi yang dikombinasikan dengan teori Teun Van Dijk dalam analisis wacana kritis dalam menganalisa data. Temuan hasil meunjukkan bahwa Risma sering kali menggunakan ekspresi ajakan untuk membujuk para peserta. Risma memberikan contoh-contoh yang berhubungan dengan fungsi dari pekerjaan para staff di Kementerian Sosial. Aksi yang dilakukan Risma ini diharapkan dapat mengajak para staf untuk bekerja lebih baik di institusi pemerintahan. Penelitian ini juga bermanfaat bagi para peneliti lainnya untuk meneliti dan menganilis lebih dalam kajian wacana metode Van Dijk secara lebih dalam.Kata Kunci: politik, ajakan, analisis wacana kritis, Risma
