Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cassava marketing system through the SCP (Structure Conduct Performance) approach in Bandar District, Simalungun Regency. The location of the research was determined using the random sampling method. The sample in this study consisted of 37 farmers determined using the Slovin formula, 5 collectors and 5 retailers determined by snowball sampling. The data analysis methods used are qualitative (descriptive) and quantitative analysis. The results show that the results of the study show that the analysis of the market structure formed in the marketing of cassava in Bandar District, Simalungun Regency at the farmer level leads to a loose oligopoly market. Meanwhile, at the channel level, marketing institutions show a tight oligopoly market. Market behavior analysis on cassava has a low bargaining position so that farmers do not have the power to determine the price of cassava and only act as a price taker. The results of the market performance analysis showed two patterns of marketing channels, the marketing margin in channel I, the value of the marketing margin was Rp. 1,380/Kg and in the second marketing channel was Rp. 1,700/Kg. The value of the farmer's share in the first marketing channel was 54.00% and the value of the second marketing channel was 43.33%. The value of cassava marketing efficiency in marketing channel I is 14.00% and marketing channel II is 16.80%, both channels can be said to be efficient because the value is less than 50%.

Abstract

Mochi Sukabumi is a specialty food that has developed into one of the local culinary icons and has been recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB) by the West Java Provincial Government in 2022. As a glutinous rice-based product with a relatively short shelf life, mochi Sukabumi requires effective and efficient supply chain management to maintain quality and meet consumer demand. This study aims to analyze the supply chain of Mochi Ahmad Yani, one of the pioneers of mochi in Sukabumi, with a focus on the management of raw materials, production, distribution and sales. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with business actors involved in the supply chain, namely suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. This study used the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method to analyze the logistics cost structure. The results show that procurement and material handling activities have the largest proportion of costs in the mochi supply chain, especially at the producer tier. The dominant cost structure in procurement is due to the need for quality raw materials to maintain product standards, while material handling costs are greater in distributors and retailers due to the handling of products directly related to end consumers. With an in-depth understanding of the logistics cost structure, Mochi Ahmad Yani is expected to formulate a more efficient supply chain strategy to improve competitiveness and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Service (AEMS) Business or Usaha Pelayanan Jasa Alat dan Mesin Pertanian (UPJA) plays a crucial role in improving farming efficiency through mechanization, especially for farmers without access to agricultural machinery. This study analyzes the feasibility of Cahaya Bintang in Muara Enim Regency from financial, technical, and economic perspectives through a descriptive quantitative approach. The results indicate that with total operational costs of IDR 741,933,333 and total revenue of IDR 768,000,000, the business generates a profit of IDR 26,066,666 and an R/C Ratio of 1.04, which indicates financial feasibility. However, the low profit margin highlights the need for operational efficiency improvements, such as optimizing machinery utilization, reducing fuel costs, and diversifying services. Other recommended strategies include strengthening cooperation with farmer groups, enhancing machinery maintenance, and institutional support to improve competitiveness and business sustainability.

Abstract

This study applied the Seven Quality Control Tools to Soyagreen tempe products produced at Rumah Tempe Indonesia from 14 to 19 April, 2025. Analysis via Check Sheets, Flowcharts, Histograms, Pareto Diagrams, Control Charts, Scatter Plots, and Fishbone Diagrams revealed a 12.19% defect rate out of a total production of 1,091 units, consisting of 96% under-fermentation and 4% spoilage. Regression analysis found that each 1 °C increase in fermentation temperature led to an average of 7.57 additional defects. To address these findings, we recommend implementing a preventive-maintenance schedule daily calibration and cleaning of sensors, weekly deep-cleans of fermenter piping and external surface, monthly replacement of gaskets and seals, and quarterly servicing of heating and humidification components. This should be complemented by automated temperature-humidity controls, standardized standard operating procedures (SOP), operator training, and regular Seven Tools audits.

Abstract

Mung beans are believed to be the key to Indonesia's food security in facing the food crisis in the future. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the volume of mung bean imports in Indonesia. The factors studied include domestic production, import prices, exchange rates, domestic prices, and government policies. The data used are secondary data from 2007 to 2022, obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, and UN Comtrade. Multiple linear regression was used to determine the effect of each independent variable on the volume of mung bean imports. Based on the EViews regression output, three variables were found to have a significant effect on the volume of mung bean imports in Indonesia: domestic production (negative effect), real domestic prices (positive effect), and import policy (significant effect). Meanwhile, real import prices and the exchange rate of the Rupiah against the US Dollar showed negative but statistically insignificant effects. These findings indicate that fluctuations in mung bean imports in Indonesia are more strongly influenced by domestic production levels, internal price dynamics, and government policies rather than external factors such as import prices and currency exchange rates.

Abstract

This research aims to develop healthy food product innovations in the form of organic yellow pumpkin brownies with the addition of herbal infused ginger and cinnamon. This innovation comes as a response to the increasing trend of healthy food consumption and the need for functional snacks made from local. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with six stages, including problem collection, data collection, product design, validation, trial, and product revision. The main ingredients in this product include yellow squash, ginger, and cinnamon which are known to have health benefits, such as boosting immunity and metabolism. The validation results by informants (nutrition students, biology, MSME actors, and potential consumers) showed a positive response to the taste, texture, and health benefits of the product. Some suggestions for improvement are given regarding the use of healthier substitutes, such as stevia and gluten-free flour. Product trials show that consumers love the distinctive taste of brownies with a spicy aroma and eco-friendly packaging. This product has the potential to be an innovative healthy snack, as well as a promising business opportunity in the local ingredient-based healthy food industry. By carrying the concept of sustainability, this product is expected to be an alternative solution to functional food that supports a healthy lifestyle.
