Abstract

This research aims to study and critically edit the manuscript I‘lam al-Nashr fī Bayān Aḥkām Qunūt al-Fajr by Al-Ḥabīb Sālim bin Jindan (d. 1969 CE) and to introduce him as a prominent scholar in hadith and history from 20th-century Indonesia. The research methodology includes a comparative analysis of two manuscript copies of this book obtained from the Al-Fakhriyah Library. The study documents the differences between the two manuscripts, conducts takhrij (critical analysis) of Qur'anic verses and hadiths, and provides explanations for uncommon words and terms. Additionally, this study employs a descriptive approach by gathering relevant references from various libraries to validate the information contained in this book. The findings reveal that the critical edition of I‘lam al-Nashr fī Bayān Aḥkām Qunūt al-Fajr has been completed, establishing the authenticity of the book's title and its attribution to Al-Ḥabīb Sālim bin Jindan. This book was composed as a rebuttal to the work of Shaykh Aḥmad Ḥasan al-Hindī, who denied the Sunnah of performing Qunūt during the Fajr prayer. In his book, Al-Ḥabīb Sālim addresses these objections with strong evidence, robust arguments, and a detailed and scholarly writing style.

Abstract

The research aims to study the consequences of actions as the objective framework that guarantees the integrity of the work of the mujtahid in downloading rulings on the actions of those who are responsible. This study came to answer the following questions: What is the reality of the concept of consequences of actions? Is it legally valid? What is the effect of the consequences of the actions in the answers of Al-Salmi in Sharia politics? What is the extent of the presence of the consequences of actions in the answers of Imam Al-Salmi and his fatwas related to Sharia politics? The research has reached results, perhaps the most important of which are: the consequences of actions derive their legitimacy from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and it is not possible to download judgment on the actions of the taxpayers and their actions by simply looking at the incident without looking at its expected results in the future, and that Al-Salmi employed the origin of the consequences of actions in his answers in directing some of the sayings of scholars And in explaining his sayings, the presence of the origin of the consequences of actions and its fundamentalist, jurisprudential, and intentional rules is noted in his various answers related to Sharia politics.

Abstract

The interaction and exchange between local culture and Islamic culture dominate in influencing the social system. This research aims to explore the perspective of Hadith on the Gerudo and Topeng celebrations in Jambi. This research relies on an analytical descriptive method based on collecting library data from various paper and electronic sources and field data through observation and interviews. The researcher then used thematic methods in the takhrīj of hadith, involving the search for hadiths based on sentences related to the topic. In analyzing hadith texts, the researcher has employed a contextual method with comparison approach and has compared them with the opinions of ‘ulamā’ who are both supportive and critical of these approaches. The key finding of this research is that the taṣwīr prohibited by the Prophet Muhammad refers to taṣwīr that contains an 'illah or reason for its prohibition. This prohibition applies to taṣwīr used as a rival to Allah's creation, for worship, or due to elements in its form that contradict Islam. Therefore, Gerudo and Topeng are not considered prohibited taṣwīr because current practices no longer embody the reasons for their prohibition.

Abstract

This research aims to clarify Ibn Rushd's approach to establishing the transmitted approach and innovating the rational approach through his book Bidayat al-Mujtahid wa Nihayat al-Muqtasid. The study employs an inductive and analytical descriptive approach, utilizing library research to analyze relevant books and articles concerning the transmitted and rational methods. The findings reveal that Ibn Rushd integrated textual reasoning and rationality in his legal methodology. He recognized that reason is the foundation of obligation and a key tool for understanding. He understood that reason enables the comprehension of texts and transmitted knowledge and facilitates understanding of the Sharia. Consequently, Ibn Rushd employed reason as a tool in conducting ijtihad on controversial issues, utilizing it to achieve goodness and happiness. This paper concludes that Ibn Rushd's approach involved collecting transmitted knowledge and applying rational reasoning in matters of ijtihad. He utilized reason as a critical tool in addressing controversial issues, aiming to achieve goodness and happiness.

Abstract

To this day, Qur’anic schools remain one of the main symbols of Islamic identity and an emblem of Islamic civilization and culture. In our Islamic history, schools have contributed positively to building the nation as a result of endowment and funding by individuals or authorities, respectively. This research seeks to shed light on a different model of traditional Quranic schools in northern Nigeria that were able to survive over time in the absence of funding from the government. The research utilized the descriptive analytical approach, drawing on the researcher’s experience as an alumnus of this school. The findings reveal that these schools are still of a Sufi nature and play their role in spreading Islamic culture and religious awareness in Nigerian society. The reason for their survival to the present-day overtime in the absence of funding by the government is because fees are not taken in them officially. Still, instead, It was based on donations and charity. The research recommends that the schools can be developed by eliminating cruelty and harshness when disciplining and prohibiting begging once and for all, in addition to adapting the combination of religious and worldly sciences in the schools.

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze and focus on institutional Salafism, also referred to as Wahhabism. The term "Salafism" was not associated with Wahhabi doctrine until the 1970s. It is said that in the early 20th century, Wahhabis began calling themselves Salafis. In contemporary academic discussions, the terms "Salafism" and "Wahhabism" are sometimes used interchangeably. Using a library-based research method, this article concludes that not all Salafis hastily declare others as infidels, including the Wahhabis. They distinguish between apparent issues and hidden issues in the matter of individual takfir (excommunication). They hold that anyone who falls into acts of apparent polytheism, after the evidence from the Quran and Sunnah has been presented to them, is individually excommunicated. However, in hidden matters, a person is not declared an infidel unless their doubts have been entirely dispelled.

Abstract

Early marriage due to premarital pregnancy is a pressing social issue in East Jakarta, negatively impacting the health and well-being of children and families. This study aims to explore the strategies employed by religious counselors to prevent this phenomenon. Utilizing a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with 7 religious counselors, with thematic analysis used to identify the strategies and challenges encountered. The findings indicate that religious counselors implement educational strategies through school outreach, parenting training, and social media campaigns targeting adolescents. They also collaborate with community organizations to reinforce prevention messages. However, challenges include a lack of community support, social stigma surrounding discussions of reproductive health, and limited resources for counseling programs. In conclusion, while the strategies employed by religious counselors are effective in raising awareness about the impacts of early marriage, stronger collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the community is still needed to address this issue comprehensively. This study recommends strengthening outreach programs and increasing community engagement in the prevention of early marriage, in order to create a more conducive environment for the health and well-being of the younger generation.

Abstract

In the current era, many students encounter challenges in understanding the science of Qur'anic readings due to the complexity of its terms, symbols, methods, and narrations. This has led to a noticeable preoccupation with the subject, impacting both the discipline and its teaching institutions. Recognizing this issue, the study explores the reasons behind these difficulties and proposes mechanisms to simplify and enhance accessibility for learners. Focusing on the context of the Sultanate of Brunei, the study aims to assess the current state of Qur'anic readings and offer practical solutions to improve teaching and learning. Using a descriptive, analytical, and field-based approach, the researchers collected and categorized data through dialogues with students and specialists. The data were analyzed to develop recommendations aligned with the study’s objectives. The findings highlight that facilitating the science of Qur'anic readings remains an open field, requiring further innovation and research. Suggestions include using mind maps, teaching students to write the Qur'an with the ten canonical narrations, and other strategies detailed in the study. These efforts aim to advance the study of this noble science and make it more accessible to learners.
