Abstract

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has impacted throughout all aspects of human life including education.  Despite the previously applied distance education or e-learning in the conventional education, nowadays this instructional model became a newly common approach in education. Therefore, students have to make some adjustments in their learning approach in order to reach out their learning goals. Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a process of monitoring and controlling learning behaviors to achieve learning goals. One of the key factors that contribute to SRL is achievement goal orientation. The aim of this study is to find out the role of types of goal orientation towards metacognitive self-regulation. A total of 320 undergraduate students participated in this study. The findings showed that performance approach and performance avoidance were the significant predictors of metacognitive self-regulation. Students’ preferences to performance goal-orientations were associated with the preliminary study findings that the new instructional model was related to decreased students’ efficacy in learning and feelings of uncertainty to their academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integrity of teachers, students, and parents in the Final Semester Assessment (PAS) conducted in the COVID-19 pandemic. PAS is the final process of measuring the achievement of student learning outcomes as one of the considerations for successful knowledge acquisition in one semester. Therefore, it is necessary to have high integrity in its implementation to describe the actual learning achievement of students. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method involving teachers (n = 109), students (n = 725) and parents (n = 846) from various public and private elementary schools in Bekasi. Furthermore, survey was conducted using google form for data collection, where respondents were asked to input several statements related to the integrity of teachers, parents and students in the PAS. The data from the documents or questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive-exploratory method to draw reflective conclusions. The results showed (1) the integrity of teachers in PAS included in the low category was 15.60%, the medium was 69.72%, and high was 14.68%. (2) the integrity of students which was categorized as low was 10.89%, medium was 81.24%, and high was 7.86%. (3) the integrity of parents categorized as low was 15.60%, medium was 72.34%, and the high was 12.05%. It was concluded that teachers, students, and parents who have high integrity in PAS were far-outnumbered by those in the low or medium category. Therefore, integrity in the school and family environment should be continuously improved.

Abstract

One of the critical variables in the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic is teachers' self-efficacy to their ability to carry out online learning. However, the fact is not all teachers have the efficacy of teaching online. The article invites readers to reflect by analyzing the causes of low self-efficacy of elementary school teachers carrying out online learning. The study used a mixed-method approach involving 22 elementary school teachers. Primary and secondary data collection using questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used quantitative and qualitative. The results show that three factors cause low self-efficacy of elementary school teachers: first, teachers' perception that online learning is ineffective and efficient; second, weak mastery and skills to apply technology for learning; and thirdly, the lack of online learning support facilities during the pandemic. This study's results can be an empiric basis for improving teachers' quality by schools, communities, and governments, especially related to online learning, not only during the Covid-19 pandemic but also in the long run education in the digital age.

Abstract

The early childhood education system nowadays requires the use of authentic assessment in schools. Authentic assessment is an integrative method of assessing the learning process, reflective to the real-world situations, using varieties methods and holistic criteria to assess the cognitive, affective, and skills in early childhood. Social development occurs dominantly after physical, cognitive, and language developments. Based on the minimal developmental standard, many early-childhood children show substandard development in environment adaptation ability, self-managing ability, responsibility, ability to follow rules, sharing, respecting others, cooperation, toleration, and emotional expression. This study aims to identify the influence of cooperative learning through authentic assessment-based jigsaw in the social development of early childhood. This study uses a pre-test post-test design on 50 subjects aged 5-6 years old. The experiment was carried out in 4 stage with 4 learning sub-themes. Data collected with a 1-4 scale observation instrument to get quantitative data and analyzed using t-Test. Results from data analysis concluded that cooperative learning through authentic assessment-based jigsaw has a positive influence on social development in early childhood. We recommend the implementation of this method to optimize social development in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate anti-corruption character education through Balinese local wisdom in junior high schools and formulate strategies to strengthen its implementation. The research samples were determined purposively. The evaluation model used was the CIPPO model (Context, Input, Process, Output, Outcome), modified from the CIPP model. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation methods. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive methods and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the implementation of anti-corruption character education was considered effective with an achievement of 76.06%. The highest achievement is on the input variable of 81.75% (very effective), and the lowest is on the process variable of 61.75% (less effective). The process of implementing anti-corruption education through learning, habituation, and civilizing is still dominant at the theoretical level, not involving students actively and critically in real life. The SWOT analysis resulted in five strategy formulations, namely: (1) establishment of a character education development unit (anti-corruption), (2) transformation of anti-corruption education learning, (3) exemplary, habituation and civilizing, (4) strengthening extracurricular programs, and (5) building cooperation network.
