Abstract

Abstract: Students often face various obstacles while working on their thesis, which can give them feelings of anxiety, stress, fatigue, boredom, and a sense of being stuck. These negative emotions experienced by students indicate a lack of academic flow during the thesis writing process. This study aims to determine the role of self-regulated learning in academic flow among students who are working on their thesis. The respondents in this study are 201 students who are currently undertaking their thesis in the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling, with a simple linear regression hypothesis test. The data on self-regulated learning are collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire scale developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia, and McKeachie (1991) and adapted by the author. The data on academic flow are collected using the Flow Inventory for Student scale created by Yuwanto (2011) and adapted by the author. Based on the analysis, it is found that there is a significant role of self-regulated learning in academic flow. The R-square value of 0.361 indicates that 36.1% of the variance in academic flow can be explained by self-regulated learning. This suggests that higher levels of self-regulated learning are associated with higher levels of academic flow, while lower levels of self-regulated learning are associated with lower levels of academic flow. The implications of this study call for educational institutions to pay attention to students' ability to self-regulate their learning in order to enhance their academic performance. Keywords: academic flow; self-regulated learning; student

Abstract

There appears to be limited information regarding studies exploring parents' and teachers' views on appropriate jobs for learners with high-functioning autism (HFA). This study is significant because its purpose was to explore parents' and teachers' views on suitable jobs for learners with HFA at a special school in Johannesburg, South Africa. This study also sought to explore parents' and teachers' opinions on vocational methods for supporting learners with HFA. An interpretive paradigm was used as part of the qualitative research methodology. The data were generated from 12 selected participants using purposive sampling, including six parents whose children had HFA and six teachers of learners with HFA from various phases of the school. Semistructured interviews and document analysis were used to generate the data. The data were analyzed via thematic data analysis. The study revealed that teachers and parents of learners with HFA see jobs such as waiters, athletes, swimmers, soccer players, basketball players, handball players, baking, cooking, drawing, artists, gardening, carpentry, building, plumbing, car-washing, driving, building websites, filing, laminating, playing video games, emailing, printing, and photographing as appropriate future jobs for learners with HFA. The findings revealed that vocational methods that are useful for developing jobs that are perceived as suitable for learners with HFA are gardening, sewing, cooking, selling food, and computer training through vocational shadowing involving multiple stakeholders. The study highlights the importance of a collaborative approach among stakeholders in developing individualized support plans for learners with HFA, focusing on identifying, nurturing, and placing them in suitable vocational roles for lifelong employment. Consequently, special education curricula for learners with HFA in South Africa should prioritize vocational skills and be collaboratively designed by all stakeholders. Abstract

This study aimed to explore whether expressed emotion moderates Generation Z's openness to experience and help-seeking attitude toward telepsychology and the extent to which the expressed emotion modifies that relationship. A total of 395 people belonging to the said generation participated in an online survey accomplished through Google Forms. The study used a correlational research method that focused on moderation to examine the relationship between Generation Z's openness to experience and their attitude toward telepsychology. Hence, this study sought to increase Generation Z's knowledge of mental health, including Philippine mental health conditions, as they develop a sense of responsibility, reduce ambiguity through telepsychology platforms, and improve their communication skills, which are crucial for ideal emotional socialization. Results have shown that expressed emotion does not seem to have a noticeable effect on Generation Z's attitudes toward seeking help through telepsychology. Nevertheless, there was a favorable correlation between being open to new experiences and having a willingness to seek help through telepsychology. The study adds to the growing body of knowledge on the mental health dynamics of Filipino Generation Z, and it offers beneficial information for the generation, professionals in mental healthcare, educators, and policymakers looking for enhanced support systems and interventions that meet the specific psychological needs of Filipino Generation Zoomers. Abstract

Infidelity is one of the most common concerns in romantic relationships and is deemed morally unacceptable. Such events can be disruptive and may lead to negative consequences on well-being of betrayed individuals. This study examined the prevalence of infidelity-related posttraumatic symptoms and psychological health concerns (i.e., depression, anxiety, stress) among young adults who experienced infidelity by their partners.  It also investigated whether forgiveness reduces the likelihood of psychological health concerns through lower levels of infidelity-related posttraumatic symptoms. It utilized a cross-sectional, predictive nonexperimental quantitative research design with n = 162 young adults, ages 19 – 40, who experienced being betrayed in a romantic relationship. The results showed that most of the respondents (93.21%) exceeded the cut-off score for probable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), have severe depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and stress. The respondents in this study reported a moderate degree of forgiveness. While controlling demographics and relationship history, the partial least squares structural equation modeling analysis showed that high degree of forgiveness tends to decrease psychological health concerns through lower levels of infidelity-related posttraumatic symptoms. The findings of this study highlighted the role of forgiveness in mental health outcomes which may lead to psychotherapeutic approaches incorporating this construct.

Abstract

Abstract: The existence of the times and gender equality are supporting factors in the depletion of the role of patriarchy in everyday life, this could be a trigger for the work-family conflict in women's lives today. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the number of children on work-family conflict in working women. This research is also evidence that there are still many problems around that can be studied more deeply to get a solution and also the novelty of science. The subjects in this study were working women who had children. This study uses quantitative methods and data collection using a questionnaire presented in the google form. To measure work-family conflict, a multidimensional scale was adapted by Septiani (2016) developed by Carlson, Kacmar, and Williams (2000). The measuring instrument consists of 18 statements which are divided into three aspects, namely time-based conflict, strain-based conflict, and behavioral conflict. All items are in the form of favorable statements. The data analysis technique used the chi-square test. The result of this study is that there is no significant effect between the number of children and the work-family conflict experienced by working women who have children.
