Abstract

This article reports on the effort to test psychometric properties of the revised version of Skala Karakter Wirausaha (SK-Wira). The research aims to clarify the scale’s internal structure by examining its construct validity. Construct validity is proven through confirming the internal structure and associating the scale with relevant variables. Revised version of SK-Wira and other measures were administered to university students in Magelang and Makassar (N = 598). After completing CFA, Study 1 confirmed that SK-Wira can be used as both multidimensional scale (model 1) to measure general entrepreneurial character, and unidimensional scales (model 2) to measure specific domains separately. Both models showed good fit. In Study 2, general and specific domains of entrepreneurial character were correlated with hope of success, fear of failure, openness to experience, neuroticism, entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The results accepted all proposed hypotheses. In conclusion, SK-Wira is a valid instrument to measure entrepreneurial character for psychology of entrepreneurship research.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the characteristics of the intelligence test on the Intelligentz Structure Test (IST) version 70. The study processes were carried out to examine the psychometric characteristics of each subtest on the IST, including: item difficulty index, item discrimination index, distractor effectiveness, tool reliability measuring, and construct validity. The data sources in this study are 1112 people with undergraduate educational backgrounds from several cities in Eastern Indonesia. The results of the analysis of psychometric characteristics show that in the SE subtest there are 11 items accepted, in the WA subtest there are 13 items accepted, the AN subtest shows that 17 items are acceptable, in the GE subtest shows that all the items contained in it are still eligible to be used. In the RA subtest, 18 items are eligible to be accepted, in the ZR subtest, all items are still suitable for use, in the FA subtest, which shows 18 items are acceptable. in the WU and ME subtests, it can be seen that all items contained in them are acceptable. The reliability of the IST construct shows the omega coefficient (ÏŽ) is 0.845 and the construct validity shows that the nine subtests contained in the IST fit are based on three criteria of goodness, namely RMSEA, CFI, and TLI.

Abstract

A research has been done to compare the differences on the enzyme creatine phosphokinase (CPK) level and muscle soreness before and after 4-weeks swim practices on swimmers of College swimming club. Eighteen healthy male swimmers (mean ± SD; age: 19,94 ± 1,86 years; weight: 65,28 ± 6,14 kg; height: 1,72 ± 0,43 m) participated in this study. All subjects performed their 4-weeks swim practices which consist of 2x120 hours per week with 500 meters average daily swim distance and weight training. Blood was collected before and after the practices and CPK were analyzed. Questionnaires concerning muscle soreness were filled put before each blood draw. Results were analyzed using normality test and Wilcoxon signed rank test (p<0.05). There was significant increase in CPK level during 4-weeks swim practices by 59.41% (p=0.044). Whereas for muscle soreness (overall and specifically in arms and thighs), there was no significant differences between before and after the 4-weeks swim practices. As a conclusion, participation in 4-weeks swim practices resulted in significant serum CPK enzyme elevation, but there was lack of significance in muscle soreness differences on swimmers of College swimming club.

Abstract

The study on  synthesis  and  characterization  of magnetic   carbon from  mixture of rubber wood sawdust and    for  heavy metal  of Fe  absorption on the Siak river water samples  has been done.  The process of milling and seaving  resulted  a smallcarbon  particle size  of  38 μm, the increase in surface area of  the  carbon  has beenachieved  by  chemical activation using the KOH Activator  with  weight  ratio  of  carbonpowder  of  4: 1. After that,  carbon powder that had  been activated  was  mixed  to by  comparison of 5: 4. The mixing  process was  done  using  a  mortar and continued  toballmiling  process for 2 hours. Finally, a mixture of carbon powder and   was carbonized at  temperature  of   850oC    in  N2 gas and then proceed to  washing and drying proceses in order to produce carbon magnetic  . Absorption testing of heavy metal of Fe  in  Siak  river water samples  was  performed with variations in  immersing time of ½   hours, 1 hour,  and 2 hours. Atomic absorption spectroscopy test results revealed that absorption after 2 hours  increased from  34,17%  (without     to  39,63%  (using magnetic   .  Characterization  of x-ray diffraction  showed  the  peak  of  Fe  at  2θ = 46,28o and  scanning electron microscopy  showed  uniform  particle  size  with  irregular shape  and  whitish  color.  Results  of  Dispersive X-Ray  Energy (DXE) proved the existence of metal Fe in magnetic carbon absorbent material   from rubber wood sawdust.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Self Regulated Learning and Learning Saturation in Class XII Students of SMAN 2 Berau. This study used a 142 students taken from the population of class XII students at SMAN 2 Berau using simple random sampling technique. The measuring instrument used uses a scale that is relevant to the two variables to be measured. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the correlation coefficient (r) was = -0.359 with a significant level of p = 0.000. The value obtained indicates that the Ho hypothesis is rejected, and the Ha hypothesis is accepted. The results of this hypothesis test show that there is a significant negative relationship between selfregulated learning and learning saturation in Class XII Students of SMAN 2 Berau. This correlation coefficient shows the closeness of the relationship at a weak level. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that students will be able to fight self-saturation in facing the learning process and be able to understand self-management and self-control in learning well.

Abstract

Abstrak. This study aimed at determining the effect of psychological well-being on celebrity worship among the college students who are fans of Korean dramas in Makassar City. The participants of this study were 402 students who were fans of Korean dramas in Makassar City. The sampling technique used was snowball sampling. The measurement tools used were Celebrity Attitude Scale to measure celebrity worship and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale to measure psychological well-being. This study used a simple linear regression analysis technique. The finding was that there was an effect of psychological well-being on two aspects of celebrity worship, namely, intense personal feelings and pathological thresholds.  Keywords: Celebrity worship, Psychological well-being

Abstract

Abstract: Students often face various obstacles while working on their thesis, which can give them feelings of anxiety, stress, fatigue, boredom, and a sense of being stuck. These negative emotions experienced by students indicate a lack of academic flow during the thesis writing process. This study aims to determine the role of self-regulated learning in academic flow among students who are working on their thesis. The respondents in this study are 201 students who are currently undertaking their thesis in the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling, with a simple linear regression hypothesis test. The data on self-regulated learning are collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire scale developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia, and McKeachie (1991) and adapted by the author. The data on academic flow are collected using the Flow Inventory for Student scale created by Yuwanto (2011) and adapted by the author. Based on the analysis, it is found that there is a significant role of self-regulated learning in academic flow. The R-square value of 0.361 indicates that 36.1% of the variance in academic flow can be explained by self-regulated learning. This suggests that higher levels of self-regulated learning are associated with higher levels of academic flow, while lower levels of self-regulated learning are associated with lower levels of academic flow. The implications of this study call for educational institutions to pay attention to students' ability to self-regulate their learning in order to enhance their academic performance.Keywords: academic flow; self-regulated learning; student

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of self-efficacy on academic burnout among working students in Makassar. This study included 100 working students aged 17 to 25 from Makassar. The measurement instrument were using academic burnout scale and the self-efficacy scale. The sample was collected using the accidental sampling method. This study used a quantitative method with simple regression analysis. The results showed a significant value of 0.000, implying that self-efficacy influences academic burnout among working students in Makassar. The R squared value of 0.184 indicates that self-efficacy contributes 18.4% to academic burnout. The study's implications were to contribute to science development related to academic burnout and slf-efficacy, as well as to serve as a resource for students and educators interested in minimizing academic burnout and enhancing self-efficacy.

Abstract

Students who study away from their hometown generally are individuals who live in another area to seek knowledge at higher education institutions in a new area and prepare themselves for academic achievement. This can trigger academic stress. This study aims to uncover the relationship between self-adjustment and academic stress among migrant students at the Faculty of Psychology, Makassar State University. A total of 321 individuals were determined using accidental sampling technique as respondents. Self-adjustment and academic stress scales are the measuring tools used in this study. The data analysis used in this study is the Pearson product moment correlation processed using SPSS 24.0 for windows. The results of this study show that there is a significant negative relationship between self-adjustment and academic stress among migrant students at the Faculty of Psychology, Makassar State University (r = -0.165, p = 0.003 < 0.05), indicating that the higher the self-adjustment score, the lower the academic stress among migrant students at the Faculty of Psychology, Makassar State University. This study can be a foundation for migrant students that provides the potential for individuals to apply self-adjustment at campus as a practice in stabilizing academic stress

Abstract

Resilience is important for out-of-school adolescents so that they can make them able to bounce back from the problems faced after dropping out of school. One factor that can increase the resilience ability of out-of-school adolescents is social support. This study aimed to determine the effect of social support on the resilience of out-of-school adolescents. The sampling technique in this study used Snowball Sampling with a total of 228 subjects. The measuring instrument used is the Social Support Scale, with a reliability value of 0.827. The resilience Scale was used to measure the level of resilience in this study with a reliability value of measuring instruments of 0.928. This study used a simple linear regression analysis technique, which showed the study results that there was an effect of social support on resilience with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The impact of the independent variable on the variable is tied to the value of R = 0.490, which shows a positive value, and, the results of R Square in this study are R2 = 0.240, which means that social support has an influence of 24% on resilience with weak categories. AbstrakPentingnya kemampuan resiliensi dipunyai oleh remaja putus sekolah sehingga mampu membuat remaja putus sekolah dapat bangkit kembali dari permasalahan yang dihadapi pasca putus sekolah. Salah satu faktor yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan resiliensi remaja putus sekolah ialah dukungan sosial. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dampak dukungan sosial pada resiliensi remaja putus sekolah. Metode penghimpunan sampel pada kajiaan ini menerapkan teknik Snowball Sampling pada jumlah subjek yakni 228 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Social Support Scale dalam mengukur dukungan sosial dengan nilai reliabilitas alat ukur yakni 0,827. Skala Resiliensi untuk mengukur tingkat resiliensi dalam penelitian ini dengan nilai reliabilitas alat ukur sebesar 0,928. Kajian ini menerapkan metode analisa regresi linear sederhana yang menunjukkan hasil kajian pada dampak dukungan sosial pada resiliensi dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05). Dampak variabel bebas pada variabel terikat pada nilai R= 0,490 yang menunjukkan nilai positif serta, hasil R Square dalam penelitian ini sebesar R2 = 0, 240 yang artinya dukungan sosial memiiki dampak yakni 24% terhadap resiliensi dengan kategori lemah.
