Abstract

Various literature states that employee knowledge about brands is a major determinant of the success of the services provided by the organization. Therefore, employee knowledge about brands is important to understand, especially related to the antecedents and results of that knowledge. Although there have been studies that discuss employee knowledge about brands, antecedents, and results of employee knowledge about brands are still widespread in various studies. The purpose of this paper is to review the literature relating to employee knowledge about brands and propose a future research agenda related to this topic. The method is identifying previous literatures which investigated the topic. The findings show that there are several antecedents and the results of employee knowledge about brands that have been studied in the literature. This literature review concludes that future research can discuss various antecedents and results of employee knowledge about brands that have not been discussed in the research of the reviewed literature.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the influence of social and personality factor on attitude toward brand and purchase intentions. It was carried out because currently, the purchase of branded bags overgrows in Indonesia. In this research, sampling employed non-probability with the purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique in this research used a questionnaire distributed online according to predetermined criteria i.e., branded bag consumers who had purchased a minimum once in the last six months. This study's sample was buyers of branded bags in Indonesia, with as many as 150 respondents. The method utilized was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This study’s findings indicated that social and personality factor influenced consumer purchase intention. Social and personality factor influenced purchase intention mediated by attitude toward brand. In addition, the relationship between social factor and purchase intention was moderated by hedonic value. Likewise, personality factor and purchase intention were moderated by hedonic value.

Abstract

The study tested the heterogeneity and asymmetry of adjustment speed between groups of analyzes formed based on the interaction between the direction and distance of deviation from target leverage using two-step partial adjustment model. The results show speed adjustment differences among the analysis groups and the asymmetry of the speed of adjustment where the group deviated far above the target has the highest speed of adjustment and the group deviated near below the target of leverage has the lowest adjustment speed. The group of companies deviated far above the target bear the greatest deviation costs while companies in the group diverged near below the target bear the smallest deviation costs. This result is consistent with expectations that companies bearing the highest deviation costs have the greatest pressure to immediately return to the target leverage so that the speed of adjustment will be high, while companies bearing lower deviation costs do not have greater pressure to immediately return to the target leverage so that the speed adjustment towards the target will be lower.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the process of forming the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of employees in the hotel industry. This study also uses affective commitment and work engagement as mediating variables to clarify the mechanisms for the effect of transformational leadership on OCB. The design of this study is a quantitative study using a survey method through distributing questionnaires to frontline employees in the hospitality industry.  250 questionnaires distributed there were 218 that can be used. By testing using the Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method with SMART PLS 3, it was found that transformational leadership has no direct effect on OCB like most other Asian studies. Affective commitment and work engagement show partial mediating effects in the relationship between transformational leadership and OCB in the workplace. This study found that transformational leadership can influence OCB through the mediating effects of affective commitment and job involvement. These results are expected to enrich the psychological mechanisms that can explain the effect of transformational leadership on OCB. Future research is expected to be able to explain a more comprehensive flow of transformational leadership, affective commitment, work engagement, and OCB.

Abstract

This review aimed to discuss current literatures of Knowledge Management (KM) role in employee performance. This paper reviewed articles about the effect of KM on performance from several dif- ferent countries. The result of the study shows that all article reviewed have the same same conclusion that there is a positive relationship between KM and employee performance. The important findings suggest that KM is a major indirect factor of organizational performance. Also, KM occupies an impor- tant role in forming an effective platform for learning organizations. However, how knowledge man- agement influences competitive advantage such as knowledge, behavior, attitude, and its influence on performance had not attract the attention of researchers. This study suggests future studies to include intervening variables such as competitive advantage, knowledge, behavior, and attitude, to gain a deeper understanding of knowledge management’s role in improving employee performance..

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of job satisfaction, work environment, and work motivation on employee performance and to determine the role of gender and duration as demographic factors that moderate the relationship between job satisfaction, work environment, work motivation, and employee performance. The object of this study is employees with staff positions working in telecommunications companies to PT. XL Axiata, PT. Indosat Ooredoo, and PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkomsel) located in Jakarta.  This study uses a quantitative approach which will use a questionnaire measuring tool. The total sample of this study was 590 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. To analyze the data used univariate cell means test and multiple linear regression test. The results of this study conclude that job satisfaction, work environment, and work motivation have a significant effect on employee performance. Demographic factors that become moderating have an influence on employee performance, but the exception for male gender is not better than women in job satisfaction, work environment, and work motivation on employee performance, while for work duration more than two years it is better than less than two years in the work environment and work motivation on employee performance, and are inversely related to job satisfaction.

Abstract

Protean careers are understood and measured using different concepts. Apart from being confusing, it also causes divergences that result in limited operationalization of the protean career. O This study aims to develop a more comprehensive tool for measuring protean careers by examining the nomological network of ‘new’ protean career attitudes. Researchers added a measure of the affective component of love for work, in addition to dimensions driven by self-values and self-directed behavior. The results of the construct validity test through a nomological network involving 160 respondents showed two critical points. First, on the relationship between the dimensions, the dimensions of love for work and self-direction behavior are related to the harmonious passion variable and the proactive work behavior of career initiatives and personal initiatives. Second, the relationship within the dimension shows that the dimensions of love for work, driven by self-values, and self-directed behavior are interrelated. Additional validity tests, such as convergent, discriminant, and predictive validity tests, indicate that the question items are valid. Future research needs to pay more attention to the affective dimensions of love for work and harmonious passion.e.

Abstract

This study examines the determining factors and the speed of adjustment of manufacturing firms’ capital structure in Indonesia. This research uses data of 118 listed manufacturing companies from 2014 to 2018 and offers a continuation of Indonesia’s existing literature by applying a dynamic model.  The results reveal that Indonesian manufacturing firms practice optimal capital structure and are altered by firm-specific and time-varying factors. Firms’ decisions regarding capital structure are determined by firm-specific factors: non-debt tax shields, tangibility, and stock price performance. The results also indicate the speed of adjustment does exist, although the speed of adjustment finds lower than in previous research. The slowdown of the manufacturing industry growth from 2014 to 2018 turns out to be in line with the slow pace of leverage adjustment.
