Abstract

Critical thinking skills (CTS) are needed in chemistry learning, especially on solubility and the solubility product constant concept because this concept has contextual, complex characteristics and most of the concepts are obtained through practical activities. The learning that can train students CTS is REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring) learning. This study aims to determine of application REACT learning to students CTS on solubility and the solubility product constant concept. The design of this study was one group pretest posttest with purposive sampling technique. The instrument was valid and reliable 12 essay questions and observation sheets. Data analysis technique was done by analysis descriptive using N-Gain and statistical analysis using paired sample t-test. The result showed that the N-Gain value with the medium category on 6 indicator CTS. These results were supported with the result of the paired sample test are acquired the significance value <0,05 and effect size results with high criteria that indicated REACT learning has a positive effect on students CTS on solubility and the solubility product constant concept

Abstract

Chemistry learning in schools emphasizes learning chemistry concepts in a coherent, structured and detailed manner. Concepts delivered in a coherent, structured and detailed way make it easier for students to understand and understand concepts. Several strategies can be used to assist students in learning concepts, including the use of student worksheets that shape student thinking in a structured way. This descriptive analysis research aims to determine the ability of metacognition through the use of student worksheets based on discovery learning. The research design used is the One-Shot Case Study. The study was conducted by giving treatment to the group studied in the form of learning using Discovery Learning-based Student Worksheets four times. After being given treatment, the group is given a post-test in the form of questions that have metacognition indicators and question indicators, then given a questionnaire response to the worksheet based on discovery learning, a questionnaire responding to the ability of metacognition. Data from the results of the post test and questionnaire were analyzed and conclusions were drawn. The results showed an average post-test score obtained at 87.94% while the average questionnaire score obtained at 81.64%, the results of the interview analyzed descriptively also showed good metacognition skills. As for the results of students' metacognition abilities based on their ability level, they are: 17.64% low level; 61.76% moderate level; and 20.59 are at a high level. Based on the data collected, it can be concluded that the metacognition ability of the XI MIA 7 grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto is at the most moderate level.

Abstract

In achieving the learning objectives, many components are involved including teaching materials. One of the teaching materials that will be developed in the form of printed teaching materials, namely comics. The role of comics has a very important role because the emotional involvement of the reader will greatly affect the memory and memory of the subject matter obtained. This study aims to develop the teaching materials in the form of comic media using Adobe Photoshop CS6 software on the reaction rate material to determine teacher ratings and student responses to the developed comic media. This study uses a learning design procedural development model from ADDIE. The research instruments used were interview guidelines, needs questionnaires, expert team validation questionnaires, assessment questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The product of the development was validated by the content and construct validation team (Content Validity and Construct Validity), and was assessed by an expert validator in the multimedia field and then tested on a small group, the data obtained was further analyzed descriptively-quantitative. The positive result of class XI IPA 2 student responses at SMA N 7 Sarolangun were 87.02%, the results obtained that this comic media is very good and interesting. Based on the process and results of media development as well as material and results, overall it is concluded that this comic media product is feasible and interesting to use.

Abstract

Chemistry is one of the sciences that is considered difficult for some students. The difficulties in chemistry because many concepts in chemistry are complex and abstract. Hydrocarbons are one of the chemistry topics with abstract concepts and are difficult and often cause misconceptions on students. If students experience misconceptions on one of the basic concepts, then the possibility of the emergence of misconceptions will be even greater on more complex concepts. Therefore, the researcher conducted a study to identifying misconceptions of grade XI students on the Hydrocarbon topic using a three-tier diagnostic test instrument. This study was quantitative descriptive research. The research implemented on 17 – 29 January 2020 the subjects were students of XI grade of MIPA 2 and MIPA 3 of SMAN 4 Malang. The research instrument used was in the form of a three-tier multiple-choice test and has been tested and proven to be valid and reliable. Misconceptions were identified on 7 concepts from the hydrocarbon topic, including: the concept of Hydrocarbon Compounds (22,1%), Carbon Atoms (23,6%), Carbon Atomic Types (22,9%), Structure and Nomenclature of Hydrocarbons Compound (24,8%), Physical and Chemical Properties of Hydrocarbon Compounds (38,7%), Isomers (45,1%), and Hydrocarbon Compound Reactions (31,4%). Ilmu kimia merupakan salah satu ilmu yang dianggap sulit bagi sebagian siswa pada umumnya. Sulitnya ilmu kimia dikarenakan konsep dalam ilmu kimia banyak yang bersifat kompleks dan abstrak. Hidrokarbon merupakan salah satu materi kimia dengan konsep yang abstrak dan dirasa sulit, serta sering kali menimbulkan miskonsepsi. Apabila dalam belajar siswa mengalami miskonsepsi pada salah satu konsep dasar, maka kemungkinan munculnya miskonsepsi akan semakin besar pada konsep yang lebih kompleks. Oleh sebab itu peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa kelas XI pada materi Hidrokarbon menggunakan instrumen tes diagnostik three-tier. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 - 29 Januari 2020, subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI MIPA 2 dan MIPA 3 SMAN 4 Malang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa soal tes pilihan ganda three-tier dan telah diuji coba serta terbukti valid dan reliabel. Jawaban siswa kemudian dianalisis dan dikategorikan berdasarkan tingkatan pemahaman. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terjadi miskonsepsi sebesar 29,8% (kategori rendah). Miskonsepsi teridentifikasi pada 7 konsep materi hidrokarbon, diantaranya: konsep Senyawa Hidrokarbon (22,1%), Kekhasan Atom Karbon (23,6%), Jenis Atom Karbon (22,9%), Struktur dan Tata Nama Senyawa Hidrokarbon (24,8%), Sifat Fisik dan Kimia Senyawa Hidrokarbon (38,7%), Isomer (45,1%), dan Reaksi Senyawa Hidrokarbon (31,4%).

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kreatif merupakan bekal peserta didik di era disrupsi. Era disrupsi adalah sebuah era perubahan serba cepat di segala bidang kehidupan. Perubahan tersebut juga dialami oleh bidang pendidikan termasuk di dalamnya adalah model pendidikan. Dengan demikian, maka proses pembelajaran memerlukan model pembelajaran yang bervisi kekinian. Model pembelajaran berbasis proyek merupakan salah satu model yang dapat dijadikan solusi mengenai hal tersebut. Model ini merupakan model yang disarankan pada pembelajaran berbasis kurikulum 2013. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik pada kompetensi larutan elektrolit. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus dengan 2 kali pertemuan tiap siklus. Subyek penelitian adalah keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik SMA Negeri 1 Pekalongan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik dari sebesar 8,8% pada siklus1 sebesar 77,9% (cukup) menjadi 86,8% (baik) pada siklus 2, dengan indikator keberhasilan baik. Peningkatan tersebut, juga disertai meningkatnya perilaku belajar menjadi lebih baik.

Abstract

Thermochemistry as one of sub-subject in chemistry subject which is taught in senior high school. This subject has considered as one of the most difficult subject to be learn by student. In understanding thermochemistry, students often experience misconception because this subject is containing abstract concept and requires representation at the macroscopic, submacroscopic, and symbolic levels. This study was intended to determine the level of student understanding of thermochemical subject after going through the teaching and learning process as an evaluation material for students and teachers. The used research method was descriptive quantitative using a three-tier multiple choice (TTMC) diagnostic test instrument. The subjects of this study were students of class IX IPA 1 Madrasah Aliyah Negri 1 East Lampung in the academic year 2019/2020 with a sample size of 33 students. The obtained results exhibited that student misconception toward the tested subject, including exothermic and endothermic reaction, thermochemistry equation, enthalpy changes, Hess Law, and bonding energy, were 90, 78, 45, 66, and 18%, respectively. The results of the analysis are expected to be an evaluation material for teachers to be able to convey thermochemical material more conceptually to improve student understanding.

Abstract

Kurangnya peran serta siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran menyebabkan siswa cepat jenuh sehingga dapat memperlambat tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran, salah satu tujuan pembelajaran kimia adalah kemampuan berkomunikasi. Pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara berkelompok dapat menimbulkan dampak yang negatif yaitu siswa hanya mengandalkan anggota dalam kelompoknya, sehingga tidak seluruh anggota kelompok berkontribusi dalam pembelajaran. Kondisi inilah yang menyebabkan kurangnya kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang efektifitas MPKTGI terhadap kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa pada topik titrasi asam-basa semester dua di salah satu SMA Swasta di daerah Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian pretest-postest control group design. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 31 siswa kelas XI di kelas eksperimen dan 35 siswa di kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh tahapan MPKTGI terlaksana sesuai dengan tahapan model pembelajaran tersebut. Kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa di kelas eksperimen lebih besar daripada kemampuan siswa di kelas kontrol, ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji statistika (uji-t) bahwa pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa yang signifikan pada topik titrasi asam-basa melalui penerapan MPKTGI. Selain itu, peningkatan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol dan siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap model pembelajaran ini.

Abstract

Setiap siswa mempunyai kapasitas memori kerja yang berbeda. Banyakya kegiatan dan mata pelajaran di pondok pesantren yang kebanyakan menjadi salah satu penyebab berlebihnya kapasitas memori kerja siswa. Akibatnya, siswa merasakan beban pada proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui beban kognitif siswa di pondok pesantren Al-Mizan khususnya pada pembelajaran kimia. Penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling. Dimana sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 35 siswa kelas XI IPA 1. Beban kognitif siswa dalam penelitian ini adalah Intrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL) berkaitan dengan kemampuan Menerima dan Mengolah Informasi siswa diukur dengan menggunakan lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD). Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) berkaitan dengan Usaha Mental siswa diukur dengan menggunakan angket skala Likert. Germane Cognitive Load (GCL) berkaitan dengan Hasil Belajar siswa diukur dengan menggunakan latihan soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa kemampuan menerima dan mengolah informasi siswa dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 70 dalam kategori baik. Usaha mental siswa dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 71 dalam kategori baik. Hasil belajar siswa dengan rata-rata nilai sebesar 48 dalam kategori cukup.

Abstract

Chemistry is categorized as a subject that is quite difficult for high school students. To understand chemistry, students must have representational abilities. There is a positive correlation between spatial visual ability and learning outcomes on material that uses the ability of the imagination of objects in space. This capability can be supported by the presence of interactive multimedia. Interactive multimedia is needed as a learning media to improve student understanding of certain materials. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of interactive multimedia on ionic bonding material in terms of student learning outcomes. The research design used in this study is one group pretest - posttest design system. The instrument was a learning achievement test sheet that tested on 12 high school students. The results showed that the test of learning outcomes obtained N-gain value with a range of 0.8-1.0 with high score criteria. This result proves that the interactive multimedia ionic bond material is effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to increase: 1) the outcome of chemistry learning students which Good criteria in a value of ≥ 80, 2) the activity of students through the application of IBL learning model with SETS approach on acid-base solution material. The research used 2 (two) cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, they are planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Each cycle did in 4 until 5 meetings. The collecting data used testing, observation and documentation method. Data was analyzed descriptively by percentage. The subjects of this study were students in class XI-IPA 4 of 14 Semarang State Senior High School on the 2017/2018 Academic Year, totaling 36 students. The average value students in the first cycle was 86 with obtained value ≥ 80 was 83%. The average value students in the second cycle was 93 with obtained value ≥ 80 was 100%. The activity of students in cycle I only 64%, and increased to 92% in cycle II. Outcome learning increase from cycle I to cycle II is proofed by the average results of cycle I pre test and posttest, consecutive 75 and 86; while in cycle II the average results of posttest reach 93 with 100% Good criteria achievement. The conclusion of this class action research is the application of IBL learning model with SETS approach can increase the outcome learning of Acid-Base Solution and the activity of students in class XI IPA-4 of 14 Semarang State Senior High School significantly
