Abstract

Abstract: One of the problems in learning mathematics faced by the seventh graders of SMPN 6 Sidoarjo is understanding the Solid Geometry (Cube, Prism and Pyramid). To solve it, it is necessary that CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) approach be employed.In order to verify the argument a 3 cycle action research is conducted. The finding shows that student difficulties can be reduced by employing CTL approach. Another finding confirms that some students still misunderstand a  certain concept.   Abstrak: Bangun Ruang Sisi Tegak (BRST) merupakan salah satu materi belajar matematika yang masih sulit dipahami siswa SMP, tidak terkecuali siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Sidoarjo. Melihat kesulitan tersebut, maka perlu dipikirkan cara-cara mengatasinya atau meminimalkannya. Salah satu cara dengan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual. Untuk mengetahui apakah upaya itu berhasil,  dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari satu sampai tiga siklus untuk tiap kesulitan yang teridentifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual dapat meminimalkan kesulitan siswa dalam belaja rmateri Bangun Ruang Sisi Tegak di kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Sidoarjo. Hasil lain menemukan beberapa penafsiran siswa yang salah terhadap suatu konsep.

Abstract

Abstract; This study aims to get information on the correlations between 1) emotional intelligence and ability to solve mathematics problems; 2) parents’ guide and ability to solve mathematics problems; 3) emotional intelligence and parents’ guide and ability to solve mathematics problems. The setting is six elementary schools spreading in three villages of Kecamatan Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta. 102 third graders are taken randomly using a survey method. A test and questionaires are used to collect the data. The results indicate that emotional intelligence contributes 14.2 % to the ability of solving mathematics problems. Meanwhile, parents’guide  only contributes 10.4 % to the ability of soving mathematics problems.   Abstrak; Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang korelasi antara : 1) emosional intelegensi dan kecakapan untuk memecahkan soal cerita matematika; 2) bimbingan orang tua dan kecakapan untuk memecahkan soal cerita matematika; 3)emosional intelegensi dan bimbingan orangtua dan kecakapan untuk memecahkan soal cerita matematika. Setting dari penelitian ini adalah 6 SD yang tersebar di 3 Kelurahan di Kecamatan Pulo Gadung, Jakarta Timur.103 anak kelas 3 diambil secara acak dengan menggunakan metode survey. Tes dan kuesioner digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa emosional intelegensi memberikan kontribusi sebesar 14,2% kepada kecakapan untuk memecahkan soal cerita matematika. Sementara , bimbingan orangtua hanya memberikan kontribusi sebesar 10,4% terhadap kemampuan untuk memecahkan soal cerita matematika.

Abstract

Abstract;The study aims tofind out (1) The difference of aerobic capacity between prepubertal children of native highlander and those of lowlander. (2) The difference of aerobic capacity between prepubertal boys and girls. (3) The relationship between altitude and gender in influencing aerobic capacity.The result of the data analysis reveals that there aresignificant differences of aerobic capacity between 1)prepubertal children of native highlander and those of lowlander,Fcount = 6.056 >Ftable = 3.94. 2) prepubertal boys with girls., Fcount= 46.524 >Ftable = 3.94. 3)altitude and gendergive noinfluence on aerobic capacity., Fcount = 1.792 <Ftable= 3.94.Further finding shows that highlanders are smaller and lighter. Therefore, it is strongly suggested that talent identification give more priority to the aerobic capacity than to figures. Abstrak; Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui (1) perbedaan kapasitas aerobic antara anak usia dini di dataran tinggi dan dataran rendah. (2) perbedaan kapasitas aerobic antara anak usia dini perempuan dan laki-laki. (3) Hubungan antara ketinggian dan gender dalam mempengaruhi kapasitas aerobic. Hasil dari analisa data menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan kapasitas aerobic diantara 1) anak usia dini di dataran tinggi dan yang di dataran rendah, Fcount =6.056 > Ftable.=3.94. 2) anak usia dini laki-laki dan perempuan, Fcount =46.542 > Ftable =3.94. 3) ketinggian dan gender tidak memberikan pengaruh pada kapasitas aerobic., Fcount = 1.792 < Ftable = 3.94. Lebih lanjut temuan menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak di dataran tinggi lebih kecil dan ringan. Untuk itu, sangat dianjurkan bahwa system identifikasi bakat diberikan prioritas lebih dalam kapasitas aerobic daripada penentuan bakat.

Abstract

Abstract:This research aims at describing teacher abilities in making instructional planning, implementing, evaluating, in building personal relationship and factors influencing their skills to conduct the teaching-learning process of social science in primary schools. The data needed are obtained through interview, documentation and IPKG and are directly analysed in the field. The results show that abilities to plan and implement are “fair” and are “good” for building personal relationship. Being professional and creative greatly influence the teaching-learning process. Abstrak:Penelitian ini untuk mengkaji kemampuan guru SD lakarsntri dalam kemampuan pembelajaran IPS meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan hubungan antar pribadi, serta factor yang mempengaruh keterampilan guru dalam KBM.  Interviu, dokumentasi dan IPKG digunakan sebagai pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis pada saat dilapangan. Hasil penelitian adalah kemampuan guru SD membuat perencanaan kategori “cukup”, pelaksanaan KBM kategori”cukup” evaluasi dan hubungan antar pribadi “baik”, serta profesionalitas  dan kreatifitas mempengaruhi kemampuan guru dalam KBM.

Abstract

Abstract; The discourse analysis aims to identify the interactive pattern in the teacher-led classroom spoken interaction in three thematic-based classes of the early level of elementary school, in terms of the moves, the speech roles, and the speech acts. The theoretical framework for this paper finds support in Vygotsky’s and Halliday’s language-based theory of intellectual development. The results indicate an equally highly teacher-centered pattern of interaction in the three classes, hence severely limited opportunity for students to participate in meaning-making activities. It is argued that improved learning opportunity in the thematic-based lesson would result from improve quantity and quality of students’ speech roles and speech acts.

Abstract

Abstract; This study focuses on the influence of the incentives given to Elementary school teachers on their performance and the education quality. The sample is 186 teachers taken from 935 schools comprising 12394 teachers. By applying structural equation modelling analysis, the findings are: 1) the amount of teacher’s pay and the subsidies from the central and regional governments and the school committee influence the teacher performance and the education quality; 2) the honorarium has impact on the teacher performance; 3) the teacher performance influences the education quality indicated by the quality of values and quantity of study.

Abstract

Abstract; This research focuses on how the policy makers in the Indonesian Education interpret the components of basic education found in the statute No 20, 2003 concerning the National Education System. The sources of data are the Statute texts and the interview transcripts involving 10 participants. After analysing the data using Strauss and Corbin model, it is found out that the foundation of the basic education curriculum 1) comprises values and potential development and thus 2) it is under either the conservative or liberal ideology.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims at comparing the achievement in social science between students taught using Jigsaw and those using STAD. The sample consists of 66 students taken from VIII A and VIII B of SMP 5 Jombang. After analysing the data  using t- test, it is found out that the class taught using Jigsaw achieves better than the one taught using STAD.

Abstract

Abstract: The study aims to know the quality of SMP teacher-made tests of math and science. Following level of difficulty, the result shows that it is 1) 21.25, 16.15 and 62.7% for math and; 2) 28.2%, 25.9% and 45.9%  for science successively. In terms of discriminating power it is 3) 3,7%, 7,8%, 12% and 76,5% for math and; 4) 7,7%, 13,2%, 18,2% and 60,9% for science successively. Meanwhile, the aitem total correlation shows 5) 6,5%, 50,7% and 42,8% for math and ; 6) 18,2%, 27,3% and 54,5% for science. Finally the reliability is only 20 % for math items and 10% for science.

Abstracts: The characteristics of a message receiver should be identified before designing a learning message. It is related to the different possibilities of a message bulk and the chosen channel. Some characteristics necessarily identified are cognitive style, learning types, motivation achievement, development aspect, socio cultural aspect and demography. Finally it is also important to know that there is a new way of communication, i.e. horizontal versus vertical.
