Abstract

The books available can be said to be good, but there are still many teachers who have difficulty conveying the material to elementary school students. Many teachers also do not pay attention to children's cognitive development, so that mathematics learning is less enjoyable and students are less motivated. With the development of this Mathematics Teacher's Guidebook, it makes it easier for teachers to explain concepts from mathematics material. The aim of this research is to create a Grade 3 Mathematics Teacher's Guidebook, as well as determine the feasibility of the Mathematics Teacher's Guidebook. This research uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The instruments used in this research are the results of observations, teaching reflections, tests, questionnaires, Learning Implementation Plans (RPP). Qualitative data analysis techniques by reducing data refer to selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting and transforming "raw data" that occurs in written field notes. For quantitative data analysis, the population of grade 3 SD Muhammadiyah Warungboto Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques use tests. The quantitative data analysis technique uses the Wilcoxon Test. The assessment carried out by lecturers and teachers on the book is in the very good category, meaning it is suitable for use in elementary mathematics learning. Teachers are easy to convey the material so that elementary school students no longer experience difficulties in understanding concepts in Mathematics lessons. Keywords: Books, Mathematics, cognition

Abstract

In mathematics education, problem-solving is a core element that involves stages for analyzing the problem, planning a solution, applying strategies, and reviewing the results. In the Industrial Engineering Study Program, the ability to problem-solve in optimization mathematics plays a crucial role. This ability can be used as a foundation for minimizing costs, designing production processes, and more. The aim of this research is to determine students' problem-solving abilities in solving problems related to multivariable optimization mathematics analytically without constraints. This study is a descriptive qualitative research and was conducted with six students as research subjects. The instruments used include test questions and interview guidelines. The results show that subjects with low problem-solving abilities tend to only perform two problem-solving stages: understanding the problem and planning the solution. However, they do not execute the plan smoothly and fail to review it. Subjects in the moderate category perform three problem-solving stages, including understanding the problem, choosing a solution strategy, and implementing the plan. Subjects in this category often lack precision in calculations and miss the step of reviewing their answers. Subjects with high problem-solving abilities effectively perform all four problem-solving stages: understanding the problem, creating a solution plan, executing the plan, and reviewing the steps until the final result.  Keyword: Problem-Solving, Optimization Mathematics, Multivariable Function, Analytically

Abstract

The ability to count is part of mathematics which can develop children's cognitive abilities. It is very important to develop the ability to count in children, because counting can be used in children's daily lives. The problem faced by children in their ability to count is that children lack skills in doing calculations. Lack of numeracy skills can cause low mathematics learning achievement. This research aims to examine the snakes and ladders game as a medium to help elementary school children improve their numeracy skills to solve math problems. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews and documentation. It was tested in three stages and involved nine children who had different numeracy abilities. The results of this research are that children become more skilled at doing calculations, learning becomes fun, learning activities become interactive, and motivation to learn to count increases. The snakes and ladders learning media can increase motivation to learn to count and solve math problems. Keywords: Snakes and Ladders Game, Numeracy Skills, Media

Abstract

Tempe is a daily food of Indonesian people that is famous for its high nutritional content. One of the home industries that produce tempe in Pontianak City is Pabrik Tempe Tuan Y. In distributing tempe, Pabrik Tempe Tuan Y  applies a transshipment system with two markets as transit points, where these two markets have different locations. This study aims to determine the solution to the tempe distribution problem and determine the minimum distribution cost that can be incurred by Pabrik Tempe Tuan Y. The problem in this study is a transshipment problem with mixed constraints, where the source and destination constraints consist not only of equation signs but also inequality signs. The Max-Min method is a method for solving transshipment problems with mixed constraints that can be used to obtain optimal solutions from solving all types of transshipment problems. The transshipment problem is organized in the form of a transportation table. The table is then solved using the Max-Min method. The results showed a decrease in total transportation costs from Rp 292,136.00 to Rp 260,193.00 with a cost difference of Rp 31,943.00.  Keywords: Transportation Problem, Transshipment Problem with Mixed Constraints, Max-Min Method.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) instructional model enhances students' conceptual understanding compared to conventional teaching methods. Additionally, the research assessed differences in students' conceptual understanding based on their Adversity Quotient (AQ) categories: climbers, campers, and quitters. Furthermore, the study investigated whether there is an interaction between the CMP instructional model and Adversity Quotient in influencing students' conceptual understanding. The method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group. The sample consisted of XI MIPA 2 as the experimental group and XI MIPA 4 as the control group. Data were collected using both test and non-test methods, and data analysis utilized a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings revealed that the CMP instructional model significantly enhances students' conceptual understanding compared to the conventional model. Moreover, students categorized as climbers in AQ demonstrated better conceptual understanding compared to campers, while campers showed similar performance to quitters. Students with adversity quotient climbers exhibited better conceptual understanding than those with adversity quotient quitters. There was an interaction between the instructional model and adversity quotient in influencing conceptual understanding. Keywords: Adversity quotient, CMP, Conceptual understanding

Abstract

The Nurse Scheduling Problem (NSP) is a critical issue in healthcare management, involving the assignment of nurses to shifts while adhering to constraints such as hospital requirements, legal obligations, and nurse preferences. A key objective is to balance workloads among nurses, minimizing variance to prevent burnout and ensure high-quality patient care. Despite various models addressing NSP, such as goal programming and stochastic methods, a significant gap remains in balancing workloads within individual shifts, which is crucial for nurse well-being and operational efficiency. This study develops an optimized nurse scheduling model for the emergency department (ED) of Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) in Malang, using data from January 2024. The model considers 21 nurses, including 4 chief nurses, and aims to minimize workload variance across shifts while ensuring each nurse works at least 21 days per month. The simulation results show that the optimized schedule achieves a more equitable distribution of shifts and days off compared to the actual January 2024 schedule. The optimized model ensures that all nurses, except chief nurses, are assigned 21 working days with evenly distributed rest days, reducing fatigue and enhancing nurse well-being. This study advances NSP research by focusing on workload balance within shifts, contributing to improved healthcare service quality and nurse satisfaction. Future research should explore adaptive scheduling and incorporate factors like nurse preferences and patient acuity to further enhance scheduling flexibility and efficiency. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of problem-based learning in improving mathematical literacy, particularly in statistics, in classes dominated by introverted and extroverted students. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, conducted at a private high school in Bogor. Data were collected through pretests and posttests to measure learning improvements, as well as observations during the learning process to examine interactions and student responses. The results showed that the implementation of problem-based learning significantly enhanced mathematical literacy in both classes. Although there were variations in interaction dynamics based on students' personality types, no significant difference was found in learning improvement between the introverted and extroverted classes. These findings indicate that problem-based learning can be effectively implemented for students with different personality types.  Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Mathematical Literacy, Introvert, Extrovert.
