Abstract

Rabies is a disease that attacks the central nervous system (brain) caused by the rabies virus. Rabies is the most frightening infectious disease in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) where two people in TTU district were reported to have died from the Rabies virus due to being exposed to GHPR. This research was conducted to see the effect of vaccination on dogs on the rate of rabies transmission. The method used is to first create a mathematical model of rabies transmission by adding vaccination variables, then conducting numerical analysis and simulation. The model formed is . This model is formed to see the effect of vaccination in animals on the transmission of rabies in humans. This model has two equilibrium points, namely a disease-free equilibrium point with the results of the analysis of its stability conditions being locally asymptotically stable when   and a disease-endemic equilibrium point with its stability conditions being unstable when . This means that rabies will disappear within a certain period of time. Numeric simulation was performed to support the analysis results using MAPLE software. The simulation results show that in more than 120 days rabies will disappear. Vaccination has a significant impact on the transmission of rabies, that is, the greater the rate of vaccination, the faster it will stop the transmission of rabies. Abstract

Recycled congklak is a game that is closely related to mathematics, especially probability. The learning model applied is Quantum Learning in the process of learning mathematics. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Quantum Learning in improving students' combinatorial ability while providing additional benefits in understanding sustainability through the use of recycled congklak game. The use of experimental research method where students are divided into two classes, namely experimental class and control class. The research sample was students of SMPIT Ar-Rahman Islamic School grade IX. The data analysis process used the SPSS application by conducting various pre-requisite analysis tests and the Mann-Whitney Test and comparing the average N gain value of each class. Recycled congklak learning is very helpful for students in understanding mathematical concepts, especially in probability material and has an effect on students' combinatoric abilities. The application of Quantum Learning implemented in the classroom makes students more active and responsive in listening to learning and guidance.  Keywords: recycled congklak, combinatorics skills, probability, quantum learning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the ethnomathematics concepts contained in traditional Bugis cakes and their application in geometry learning at school. The background to this research is the need for a mathematics learning approach that integrates local culture to increase students' understanding while preserving cultural heritage. The research method used is descriptive exploratory with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that traditional Bugis cakes such as doko-doko utti, bolu cukke, cangkuning, onnde-onde, and nennu-nennu have geometric shapes related to geometric concepts, such as squares, balls, pyramids, and tubes. The application of these concepts helps students understand mathematics through concrete objects that are close to everyday life. This research contributes to geometry learning by introducing an innovative approach based on local culture that is relevant and interesting for students, while preserving tradition through education. Abstract

This study aims to determine and examine the geometric ideas contained in the keturi piring fish motif in the heritage of the Jangkang Malay community. Keturi piring fish was chosen as the subject of the study because of its unique physical form. This tradition contains local values ​​related to mathematical concepts, especially geometry, which are reflected both explicitly and implicitly in the patterns and forms of the motif. This study uses an exploratory research design with qualitative methodology. This study uses observation, interview, and documentation study methods to investigate the philosophy and geometry structure of the keturi piring fish motif. The data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively in accordance with the Miles and Huberman methodology, specifically including reduction, presentation, and conclusion/verification. Furthermore, to assess the validity of the data, the researcher used the data triangulation method. The results of the study indicate that the presentation motif of keturi piring fish not only reflects the aesthetics of local culture but also reflects various geometric concepts such as the concepts of algebra, arithmetic, circle, congruence, symmetry, translation, rotation, transformation, and dilation. In addition, this finding reveals that applying geometry concepts to traditional motifs has great potential as a contextual and innovative learning medium in mathematics education, especially to introduce geometry through local wisdom. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the application of ICT learning media based on Wordwall and QuizWhizzer, on students' interest in learning mathematics.The method in this study is quantitative applying a correlation approach with a sample of 38 students of class VIII MTs SA Tarbiyatus Shibyan. Data were collected through observation, questi onnaires, interviews, documentation, and analyzed by applying the Pearson Product Moment multiple correlation test (Correlation Multiple). The results of the study showed that Wordwall has a very strong relationship with students' interest in learning while QuizWhizzer showed a strong relationship . When both media were used simultaneously,  the results of the multiple correlation test showed a very strong relationship with an  result of  and a coefficient of determination , which means the variation in students' interest in learning can be described by the application of Wordwall and QuizWhizzer. Thus, the application of these two media simultaneously has proven effective in optimizing students' interest in learning. Therefore, educators are advised to integrate Wordwall and QuizWhizzer into their learning to develop a more inspiring and responsive learning experience.  Keyword: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Learning Media Wordwall,  QuizWhizzwer, Learning Interest.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of ethnomathematics in Samer Jumputan batik at Sentra Batik Ayu, Kedunggudel, Sukoharjo. This motif combines Javanese and Kalimantan cultural elements, such as wajik, jumputan, samer, bulu ruai, and wallet. The research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, including observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive data. The study reveals the concepts of geometric transformation, including translation, reflection, rotation, dilation, and transformation combinations in batik patterns. The findings indicate that the Samer Jumputan motif can be used as a contextual medium in mathematics learning, particularly in geometric transformation concepts. In addition to enhancing students' understanding of mathematical concepts, this study also strengthens appreciation for local culture. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop gamification-based learning media assisted by the word wall platform for technology adaptation and learning tools. This study uses the research and development (RnD) method with the ADDIE model consisting of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage is carried out by conducting needs analysis through interviews with teachers and observations; the design stage is carried out by designing Wallangan learning media; the development stage is carried out by producing media and validating; the implementation stage is carried out by testing the media; the evaluation stage is carried out by measuring the validity of the WALLANGAN media. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Pare, Kediri Regency, East Java. The results of the validity by media experts obtained an average of 86% (very valid), validation by material experts an average of 80% (valid), validation by practitioners an average of 95% (very valid). The WALLANGAN learning media has been declared feasible and valid for use in learning mathematics on number pattern material. Keywords: Research and development, ADDIE, gamification, WALLANGAN

Abstract

Mathematics for most students is not a favorite subject, in fact it is a scourge. Therefore, the role of teachers is needed in order to design learning that can change students' perceptions of mathematics. This research aims to implement the Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm (PPR) to increase the enthusiasm and cooperation of prospective teacher students in the Junior High School Mathematics Learning course. This research is a descriptive qualitative research in implementing the reflective pedagogy paradigm. The research procedure was divided into 3 cycles. Each cycle followed the stages in PPR, namely: context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation. The research data were collected through observation and test administration. The results showed that the implementation of PPR in the Junior High School Mathematics Learning course can increase student enthusiasm. This can be seen from the increasing interest in becoming a teacher, namely from 39 students, initially 4 people (10.3%) were determined to become teachers, 29 people (74.4%) were still undecided, and 6 people (15.4%) did not want to become teachers at the end of the lecture increased to 33 people (84.6%) were determined and 6 people (15.4%) were still undecided. Students' response to the lecture process is very positive in terms of the scores given in the lecture evaluation, namely: overall field (5.9), course management (5.8), student involvement (6.0), student lecturer interaction (5.7), lecture content and evaluation (5.8), and integration with life (5.9) for a scale of 1-7. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan peran guru agar dapat merancang pembelajaran yang dapat mengubah persepsi siswa terhadap matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan Paradigma Pedagogi Reflektif (PPR) untuk meningkatkan antusiasme dan kerjasama mahasiswa calon guru dalam mata kuliah Pembelajaran Matematika SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dalam mengimplementasikan paradigma pedagogi reflektif. Prosedur penelitian dibagi dalam 3 siklus. Tiap siklus mengikuti tahapan dalam PPR, yaitu: konteks, pengalaman, refleksi, aksi, dan evaluasi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan pemberian tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi PPR pada mata kuliah Pembelajaran Matematika SMP dapat meningkatkan antusiasme mahasiswa. Hal ini tampak dari semakin meningkatnya minat menjadi guru yaitu dari 39 mahasiswa, semula 4 orang (10,3%) telah mantap untuk menjadi guru, 29 orang (74,4%) masih ragu-ragu, dan 6 orang (15,4%) tidak ingin menjadi guru di akhir perkuliahan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 33 orang (84,6%) telah mantap dan 6 orang (15,4%) masih ragu-ragu. Respon mahasiswa terhadap proses perkuliahan sangat positif ditinjau dari nilai yang diberikan dalam evaluasi perkuliahan, yaitu: bidang keseluruhan (5,9), pengelolaan mata kuliah (5,8), pelibat-aktifan mahasiswa (6,0), interaksi dosen mahasiswa (5,7), isi dan evaluasi perkuliahan (5,8), dan integrasi dengan kehidupan (5,9) untuk skala 1-7.  Kata Kunci: Paradigma Pedagogi Reflektif, Antusiasme, Kerjasama, Pembelajaran Matematika SMP

Abstract

This study aims to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of the Bisection Method and the False Position Method in solving non-linear equations using Excel and MATLAB software. Through literature studies and practical implementations, this study analyzes the characteristics of each method. Evaluations are carried out on the convergence, accuracy, and computational efficiency of both methods on both platforms. A case study of the non-linear equation x = 2x2 + 3x - 5 is solved by both methods in Excel and MATLAB. Based on the numerical method applied, the approximate roots for the non-linear equation are obtained. The results show that the Bisection Method produces the root of x = 0.999878 after 15 iterations, while the False Position Method provides faster convergence results by producing higher accuracy, namely producing the root of x = 0.999940 in only 10 iterations with an error tolerance of 0.0001. The implementation in Excel is done by compiling an iteration table, while MATLAB automates the iteration process. Thus, the False Position Method is superior in convergence speed compared to the Bisection Method. This study provides comprehensive insights into the application of numerical methods in solving non-linear equations and the factors that influence the performance of the methods in different computing environments.  Keywords: Bisection Method, False Position Methot, Non-Linear Equations, Excel, Matlab

Abstract

Batik is a traditional Indonesian craft that involves the technique of dyeing cloth using wax to create beautiful motifs with certain patterns. This study explores the ethnomathematics of the Batik Sindu Melati motif, because there are many ethnomathematic studies on batik, but none have studied it. This study explores the philosophy of instilling unique cultural insights as a form of conservation of Indonesian culture and the mathematical concepts contained therein. The purpose of the study is to describe the philosophy and mathematical concepts of Batik Sindu Melati. This qualitative ethnographic research, with a research method, answers four ethnographic research questions that must be answered by researchers. Data collection through observation, semi-structured interviews with craftsmen and mathematicians, and documentation. The results of the study, Batik Sindu Melati, contain geometric concepts such as geometric transformation, plane geometry, symmetry, similar and congruent, and arithmetic concepts in the form of ratios. This study concludes that the Sindu Melati Batik motif contains mathematical concepts that can be utilized in learning, especially with an ethnomathematics approach, and is expected to be used for the development of contextual and meaningful mathematics teaching materials, as well as being an effort to conserve the Sindu Melati Batik culture.
