Abstract

Complex problem solving is a cognitive skill to obtain information about obscure problem situations and use knowledge to achieve self-formulated goals in solving problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of complex problem-solving ability of students who are prospective mathematics teachers. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The subjects of this study were 3 prospective mathematics teacher students in semester VII of the Mathematics Education Study Program at Tidar University. The main instrument is the researcher himself, supported by complex problem-solving tests and interview guidelines. The data studied are answer sheets for complex problem solving tests which are then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the level of complex problem-solving ability is divided into 3, namely novice, medium, and proficient.

Abstract

Today's technology is rapidly advancing. Educators must keep pace with technological progress. The increasing use of smartphones and tablets among students and teachers has spurred the development of more innovative and interactive Android-based learning media. Android-based learning resources are required to assist technological growth, especially for pupils in junior high school. This study aims to develop a valid Android application-based math learning tool and ascertain teachers' and students' reactions. The 4D development model put forth by Thiagarajan (1974) is the basis for this study's research and development (RD) approach. Analysis was completed using student responses, teacher feedback, and expert validation. The findings revealed that the android-based mathematics learning media for seventh-grade students' "lines and angles" topic achieved an average validity score of 4.253, indicating it's highly valid. Teachers' responses had an average score of 4.3, deeming the media very helpful, and student feedback had an average score of 3.87, declaring it helpful. Based on the results, the proposed learning media is feasible as a learning supplement and is worthy of further development.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy ability is a person's ability to apply mathematical concepts in everyday life. However, the importance of this ability is not balanced by the low mathematics literacy scores of Indonesian students. The aim of this research is to collect data regarding learning media using virtual reality tour website technology to help improve mathematical literacy skills. The method used in this research is R&D with the ADDIE model. The sampling technique in this research was a cross-sectional study. Meanwhile, data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews and distributing questionnaires in the form of questionnaires. This research focuses on analyzing learning media needs for teachers and students at MTs Islamiyyah Syafi'iyah Gandrirojo and SMP IT Avicenna in Rembang district. The research results show that teachers need learning media that is interesting, interactive, easy to explore and able to visualize everyday life to improve students' mathematical literacy skills. This is also supported by the results of the student needs analysis questionnaire which stated that students were interested and agreed that a virtual reality tour website media would be developed to help apply mathematical concepts into everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of the Logan Avenue Problem Solving (LAPS)-Heuristic learning model assisted by flash card math media towards increasing the mathematical problem solving abilities of  grade students. This study was quantitative with a quasi-experimental type and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were  grade of SMP Negeri 1 Paguyangan, total was 330 students. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. From the sampling, two classes were obtained, namely class VII G as the experimental class which was subjected to the Logan Avenue Problem Solving (LAPS)-Heuristic learning model assisted by flash card math media and class VII H as the control class which was not subjected to the model and media. In this study the instruments used were tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The results of this study there are found the differences in the average ability of students in the experimental class and the control class. This is reinforced by the average results of the experimental class more than the average results of the control class. The logan avenue problem solving (LAPS)-Heuristic learning model assisted by flash card math media was stated effective enough to improved students' mathematical problem solving abilities with the results obtained that the average percentage of N-Gain in the experimental class is 66.47% and the control class is 25.30% with an ineffective interpretation.

Abstract

This type of research is development research using R&D (Research and Development) with the Plomp development model consisting of three stages, namely Preliminary research, prototyping phase, assessment phase but in this study it only reached the prototyping phase. The instruments used are validity, practicality and independence questionnaires. The result of the validity of the validator is 88.57% with very valid criteria. The results of the practicality of learning worksheets with one mathematics teacher and students obtained a score of 97.4% in the very practical category. The learning outcomes of students using LKPD 6 students obtained a value of 93.40% with very valid criteria. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that learning media using Project Based Learning (PjBL) Based Learning Worksheets on Quadrilaterals and Triangles Material are valid and practical, and Project Based Learning (PjBL) Based Worksheets make students independent in the learning process on quadrilaterals and triangles material .

Abstract

It has become a necessity for students to understand Mathematics, especially additional material. Problems or obstacles in the learning process often occur, especially in Elementary Schools with Mathematics Learning which require high creative thinking power to master the material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using number tube media on the results of learning Mathematics in addition material for grade 1 students of SDN 6 Pecangaan. The method used is a quantitative experiment with the type of Pre-Experimental research. The research design used was the One-Group Pre-test Post-test Design. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument. For data analysis, tests for normality, homogeneity, and hypotheses were carried out using the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that the use of numeric tube media was effective in improving the results of learning mathematics in addition material in grade 1 students at SDN 6 Pecangaan. Evidenced by the results of the hypothesis test Thitung 27.970 > Ttabel 1.701. So it can be interpreted that H0 is rejected while Ha is accepted. The average pretest result was 66 after the use of number tube media was carried out posttest with the average student learning result was 98.

Abstract

This research is motivated by mathematics which has a very important role in the development of scientific disciplines and developing human thinking. In mathematics there are several concepts, one of which is the concept of geometry. Geometry is still a difficult material for students, especially in the curved side of the cylinder. This causes the low learning achievement of students in the material. One of the learning models that can be used to improve mathematics learning outcomes is project-based learning. This learning model with a piggy bank project can foster a more active and creative learning attitude in students. This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning on the mathematics learning outcomes of grade IX students on tube material using the piggy bank project. This research was conducted with a quantitative approach. The research model used was post-test only control group design. The population in this study were 9th grade students of SMPN 15 Kota Serang. This study involved two sample classes, namely class IX D as the experimental class and class IX E as the control class. The data collection technique used a test instrument consisting of 5 description questions. The data analysis used was descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that there was a positive effect of project-based learning on math learning achievement.

Abstract

PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) merupakan program berskala internasional yang diselenggarakan tiap 3 tahun sekali oleh Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Salah satu aspek yang diukur adalah kemampuan numerasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah di kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, belum terbentuknya habituasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal berbasis PISA menjadikan Sebagian besar siswa memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang rendah. SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka adalah salah satu sekolah yang telah berproses membentuk habituasi tersebut. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang melibatkan 28 siswa kelas VIII SMP negeri 1 Kolaka sebagai subjek penelitian. Data diambil menggunakan instrumen tes berbasis PISA dan hasilnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika berbasis PISA kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, dengan rata-rata nilai sebesar 71,32. Pada konten quantity rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa sebesar 88,96 (Sangat Tinggi), pada konten space and shape rata-ratanya sebesar 56,82 (Rendah), pada konten change and relationship sebesar 74,51 (Tinggi), dan pada konten uncertainly and data sebesar 76,50 (Tinggi).

Abstract

Spatial abilities are very important for students to solve everyday problems, especially spatial ones. Materials are required in the form of applications on devices to make them engage for students. Local wisdom needs to be included in the material content to increase interest in learning. The use of an android-based application with ethnomathematics content is a recommended solution for learning geometry to develop spatial abilities. The research objective in this article is to analyze the practicality of android-based applications with ethnomathematics content on students' spatial abilities. The research method refers to research and development (R&D) methods. This article only examines one part of the R&D research, namely the practicality of android-based applications with ethnomathematics content. The data collection technique used was a learning response questionnaire sheet. The analysis technique used includes qualitative analysis for preliminary studies and quantitative analysis of students' and lecturers' responses to the use of android-based applications with ethnomathematics content. The results of the study show that android-based applications with ethnomathematical content are practically used to develop spatial abilities. The three aspects of practicality, namely presentation techniques, convenience, and spatial abilities show a very practical assessment. This means that Android-based applications containing ethnomathematics can be implemented in the learning process to develop spatial abilities.

Abstract

he fundamental principle that can inspire students to demonstrate other mathematical abilities is their comprehension of mathematical concepts. The goal of the study is to describe some pertinent themes with fresh research potential and to examine journal articles that center on the theme of conceptual comprehension capacity. The scholarly literature on the subject of conceptual understanding capacity published between 2020 and 2023 is used in the bibliometric analysis developed for this study. Bibliometric techniques were created to use VOSviewer to examine scientific journals. The study's findings show that, throughout the previous 10 years, researchers' interest in the topic of conceptual understanding capacity applied in scientific publications has grown significantly. This study made adjustments and used 100 scientific papers that were found through a Dimensions database search. The findings of this study demonstrate that understanding mathematical concepts has emerged as a trend in junior high school research, with an emphasis on media and applications, as well as problem-based learning (PBL) models, beginning in the eighth grade.
