Abstract

Nettle caterpillar Setora nitens Walker. is one of the major pests of oil palm plant. The use of synthetic chemical pesticides to control pest has many negative impacts such a pest resistance, pest resurgence and environmental pollution. To reduce the negative impacts cause by synthetic chemical pesticides, then application of the alternative pest control using botanical insecticides such as Derris eliptica Benth. Which is environmentally friendly is needed. This research is aims to test the effectiveness of some concentration of Derris eliptica Benth. root powder and to obtain the proper concentration to control Setora nitens Wlk. on oil palm plant (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pest and in the Technical Unit (UPT), Experimental Field Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. Using completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments one 30 g Derris eliptica root powder/litre of water (30 g/l water) , namely AT 2, (40 g/l of water) , AT 3 (50 g/l of water) , AT 4 (60 g/l of water) and AT 5 (70 g/l of water). Data has been analyzed using analysis of variance and furthen testing using Duncan’s New Mulitiple Range Test at the 5% level. The result of the result research indicate that concentration of 50 g/l of water is an effective concentration to kill S. nitens because cause total mortality 84.37% , early death of S. nitens achieved in 2,5 hours. Lethal concentration of Derris root powder kill 95% of test insects S. nitens larvae was 5.5% , equivalent to 55 g/l of water, within the range of approaches to 50 and 60 g/l of water of treatments .  Keywords: Oil palm plant(Elaeis guineensis Jacq.), Nettle caterpillar Setora nitens Walker, Derris eliptica Benth.

Abstract

This research aimed to get the kind of plant extracts as a Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) exogenously given and ameliorant ratio that influential as improving rice growth and production in peatlands. This research had been done in peatlands at Tanjung Air Hitam Village, Pelalawan, started from August 2012 until march 2013. This research had been done experimentally using split plot design. The main plot was the plant extract from banana stump (Z1), bamboo shoot (Z2) and the mixture (Z3). The subplots were ameliorant ratio (compost of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) and dregs}, with three level treatment, that were 4 : 1 {OPEFB compost 5 ton/ha + dregs 1,25 ton/ha), 2 : 1 (OPEFB compost 5 ton/ha + dregs 2,5 ton/ha) and 1 : 1 (OPEFB compost 5 ton/ha + dregs 5 ton/ha). In this research was got 9 combinations with 3 replications. The result showed that giving of plant extracts and ameliorant ratio was nonsignificant for the plant height, maximum tillers, productive tillers, age of harvest, grain per panicle, grain pithy percentage, weight of 1000 grains and also rice production per plot.   Keywords: Ameliorant, PGR, Rice and Peatland

Abstract

Soybean has the high social economic velue and its part more strategic in the human life. The request of the seed and the production of soybean to be increasing along with the growth of society and the concumption per capita and also the increasing of the food nutrition of society condition. One of the effort to increase the productivity of soybean plant can using the manures. By giving Janjang dust of oil palm as the manure can increase the calium stock in the ground/land and then it can increase the calium absorbtion by plant. The act of cultivation/agriculture rubbish like the Janjang dust of the oil plam as manure can increase the production cost and also the plant management goodly and its cost is cheaper than KCl manure or the others calium manures. The purpose of this research to know the effect of the giving of Janjang dust of oil palm and to determine the good dose toward the growth and the production of the soybean plant. This research is done in the technician unit experiment of cultivation/agriculture faculty of Riau University. This research is started from November 2009 until February 2010. This research is done by using the complete random design (RAL) that consist of six treatments and four test, so it is gotten twenty four experiments. Every the Janjang dust treatment that given are A0= without janjang dust of oil palm, A1= 0,08 gram per plant (32 kg/ha), A2= 0,16 gram per plant (64 kg/ha), A3= 0,24 gram per plant (96 kg/ha), A4= 0,32 gram per plant (128 kg/ha), and A5= 0,4 gram per plant (160 kg/ha). The measured parameter is the high of plant (cm), the number of the effective leguminusae (fruit), the age of plant begin to flower (HST), the age of harvest (HST), the number of primary branch (fruit), the percentage of polong bernas (%), the weight of 100 dry seed (gram) and the weight of the dry seed (gram). The result of this research shown that the Janjang dust of oil palm treatment with dose 0,4 gram per plant (160 kg/ha) give the good effect for plant (cm), the number of the effevtive leguminusae (plant), the age of harvest (HST), the number of primary branch (fruit), the percentage of polong (%), the weight 100 dry seed and the weight of dry seed per, if seen by the growth and the production sides.   Keyword: Soybean Plant, Oil Palm,

Abstract

ABSTRACT Plant breeding programs aimed to increase the production through creating new chili hybrid. The genetic parameters information which is also known as genetic variability and heritability should be know before start the selection. Research aimed to identify the agronomic trait inheritance of chili as selection criteria that tolerance in peatlands. The experiment was conducted in peatlands Rimbo Panjang village, Kampar Regency. The experiment lasted from November 2012 to April 2013. Research was arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) consists of seven genotypes of chili that IPB C- 5, IPB C- 111, 1PB C- 120, IPB C- 159, IPB C- 159 x IPB C- 5, IPB C- 159 x IPB C- 111 and IPB C- 159 x IPB C- 120, with 3 replications. Parameters observed are flowering date, harvesting date, plant height, height of dichotomous, stem diameter, crown width, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit stalk length, weight per fruit and weight per plant. Results showed that genotype IPB C- 159 x IPB C- 120 has higher value on length of fruit and fruit stalk length compared than 3 tested genotypes. While the genotype IPB C- 159 x IPB C- 5 has higher value on fruit diameter, weight per fruit and weight per plant 3 other genotypes. Character flowering date, fruit length, fruit stalk length and weight of fruit is recommended as selection criteria for peatlands because it has a wide genetic variability and high heritability.   Keywords : Chili, inheritance, genetic variability, heritability, peatlands.

Abstract

Tomato is one of the leading agricultural commodity that has a good prospect in marketing. It showed by a high demand for this commodity but not balanced with the supply because the productivity is still low especially at the lowland. To overcome this problem, plant breeder must strive to assemble new varieties suitable for cultivation in the lowland. This study aims to examine the growth and yield some tomatoes genotype grown in the lowlands. This study lasted from October 2012 to March 2013 at the experimental farm, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau. This study arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) consist by 6 treatments and 3 replications. Genotype that used are 2201-5 IPB-8b, IPB-6-8 T43, T53-IPB and IPB 3-3 T65-6. Comparation varieties used are Intan and Karina. The parameters measured were plant height, stem diameter, flowering date, harvesting date, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruit cavities, fruit flesh thickness and seed number. The results showed that the strains significantly affect the parameters of the study (flowering date, maturity, plant height, stem diameter, fruit flesh thickness, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruit cavities, total fruit weight per plant and number of seeds per gram). IPBT43-6-8 strain has a total weight of fruit cropping highest (777.1 g), but not significantly different from the weight of the total fruit crop IPBT53-3 (655.9 g) and IPBT65-6 (605.5 g). Three strains have a total weight of fruit crop was significantly higher compared with the Intan variety (404.9 g) and Karina (208.6 g).   Keywords: tomato, lowland, yield potential evaluation.

The best treatmentattheintensive searchwasoutwiththe addition of2% chitosanconcentrationwithpH, totalbacteria, protein content andassessmentrequirementsorganeleptikaccordancewithSNI01-3142-1998andcanextend the shelf life. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the attitude, subjective norm and consumer behavior towards buying local fruit. This research was conducted in traditional market Arengka Pekanbaru. Source of data was primary data from interview with respondents using accidental random sampling. Methods of analysis is Fishbein formula to show consumers attitude to certain object and  to know consumers decision making process. The results showed that the attitude of consumers in buying local fruit is good. Subjective norm consumers indicate referent not affect consumers in buying local fruit. The consumers behavior in buying local fruit showed a significant positive result is good.   Keywords : Attitude, Subjective Norm, Consumer Behavior

Abstract

  The purpose of this study to analyze the right combination of products for tofu agroindustry businesses in order to achieve optimal conditions and analyze the allocation of resources owned by tofu agro-businesses to achieve optimal conditions. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data. This research method using a sensus method. The analytical method used are the optimization analysis and sensitivity analysis using the model of Linear Programming. These results indicate that in order to achieve optimal conditions, tofu agroindustry businesses in Pekanbaru City must produce the large tofu and the little tofu as much 339,242.1 units and 0 unit. From that total production is obtained profit per month of IDR 77,971,390. Resources that become active resource that is tofu acid resource, while other resources are passive or excess resources.   Keywords: Tofu, Combination of Products, Resources

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1)  To identify the role of extension toward independent smallholder farmers of palm oil; (2) To know the empowerment level of the farmers; (3) To analysis the relation between extension’s role on  empowerment the farmers. This research  was conducted at Bangun Jaya Village at North Tambusai Sub-district of Rokan Hulu. Samples were determined by purposive sampling methods with consideration that the location has active extension activities and has farmers group. 45 independent smallholder farmers of palm oil were taken as respondent. Validity and reliability analysis has been done on the measuring instruments. Data’s analysis to acknowledge the first and second research purpose used Scale Likert’s summated Rating (SLR), whereas multiple linear regression used to acknowledge the third purpose of this research. The Result showed that: (1) The extension role is categorized enough, that are consisted of facilitation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation is categorized enough, while on education, information  dissemination, and consultation is categorized have a role; (2) The empowerment level is categorized well, that are consisted of human resources and productive economy is categorized well, while on institutional is well enough; (3) Empowerment of independent small holder farmers affected significantly by the role of extension in education, facilitation and consultation, and monitoring and evaluation, however the role of extension does not significantly affect on dissemination  and supervision of the farmers empowerments. Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to determine the amount of costs, revenues, profits, and profitability value of tofu agroindustry in Pekanbaru. 2) to determine the level of efficiency of tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru. 3) to determine the added value of tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru. This research was conducted from June 2012 until December 2012. The data collection technique was cencus technique. The respondents of this research were all active tofu entrepreneurs in Pekanbaru. This research used qualitative and quantitative methods. The analysis scopes of this research were costs, revenues, profits, profitability, efficiency, and added values analysis. The results of this research showed that the average total cost of tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru was Rp.69,228,509.33 per month. Total revenues of tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru was Rp.96.147.690,00 per month. Total Profit of tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru was Rp.26,919,181.00 per month. The number 38.88 percent of Profitability value meant that tofu agro industry in Pekanbaru was a profitable industry because the value of profitability > 0. 1.39 Ratio of R / C value meant that every Rp.1.00 costs in the production process of tofu will provide 1.39 times profit. The average added value of small size tofu was Rp.7.607,69/kg. The average added vaue of medium size tofu was Rp.5.578,80/kg. Keywords: Tofu, agroindustry, efficiency, added value
