Abstract

This study aims to explain the basic values of madrasa management in Kudus, the values of developing madrasa in Kudus, and the excellent values of madrasa in Kudus. This research is a field study that uses a qualitative approach. Data collection uses interview, observation, and document study methods. Data analysis used the Spradley model, namely domain, taxonomic, compound, and cultural themes analysis. The result of this study explains that the strategic values in the madrasa lie in the basic values of the madrasa i.e. an educational institution whose main mission is to teach the islamic sciences. The next strategic values are the values of development which focus on a better quality learning model, namely curriculum, learning and output. Furthermore, the excellent values of the madrasa are focused on three values, namely the values of excellence in tafaqquh fiddin or mastery in the knowledge of Islam, the values of excellence in memorizing the Qur'an, and the values of excellence in the field of research. It is recommended that the madrasah aliyah  in Kudus also develop other strategic values to become excellent, such as international schools or ICT based schools.

Abstract

A lot of works have been written on Tafsīr of the noble Qur’ān with their various characteristics that distinguish them from one another. Some focused on the use of traditions (Riwāyah) while some others focus on the use of acquired knowledge (Dirāyah) or opinion- based Tafsīr (Ra’y). This study focused on one of the most popular works on Tafsīr bir-Ra’y entitled Rūḥu’l-Ma’āni fi Tafsīri’l-Qur’āni’l-’Azīm was-Sab’i’l-Mathānī (The Insightful Meaning of the Exegesis of the glorious Qur’ān and the Seven Reoccurrence). The paper aimed at bringing out the hidden treasure of this encyclopedic work of Tafsīr to the English audience including its features and the sources of its information. The method adopted in this research is basically analytical and exegetical method. Findings revealed that Rūḥu’l-Ma’āni has some characteristics that stand it out among other works of Tafsīr such as logical connection between verses and chapters, grammatical analysis of verses and verification of hadīth among others. It was also revealed that the author relied on many books and scholars of different fields in his Tafsīr which makes the book a compendium of Tafsīr, and an inevitable reference material for contemporary Qur’ānic commentators. The paper concluded by recommending that the contemporary scholars and students of Tafsīr should create awareness on the significance of the tafsir book by using it in tafsir session and carrying out further research on it as well as making it an additional source of information while explaining the glorious Qur’ān.

Normatively, children's education is the responsibility of the family. But when families experience disharmony, even broken home, children's education prone to be abandoned. When a modern school has not been able to maximally accommodate broken home children, Early Childhood Pondok Pesantren/pontren becomes the best alternative choice. The purpose of this research is to find the best alternative education for broken home children in the modern era. This research was conducted throughout 2017 at Early Childhood Pesantren Baiquniyah Yogyakarta. This research was using the qualitative approach, while data collection techniques were observations, interviews, and documentation; data analysis was done in descriptive, interpretative, and comparative. The results show that Baiquniyah Early Childhood Pontren Yogyakarta can be the best alternative choice. This is because the Baiquniyah Early Childhood Pontren Yogyakarta is able to bring the children closer to their parents psychologically, even when they are biologically separated. This condition has implications for the increase of pedagogical immunity, in which children are not easy to stress and depression, thus comfortable in studying at pesantren.

Abstract

The determination of the direction of the qibla at the Great Mosque that was inherited from the Islamic Kingdom of Java had executed by waliyullah. Through the folklore and history of the Land of Java or known as a Babad, those stories explained that waliyullah was the person who determining direction of Qibla by raising his right-hand and holding Masjidil Haram in Makkah. On the other hand, he was holding mustoko of the mosque. A line between his right and left-hand as a line of direction of the mosque’s Qibla. This kind of story was widespread in society as a myth. This myth was related to karomah (divine distinction) of waliyullah. Therefore, Qibla of the mosque could not be changeabled, eventhough, the qibla direction of Great Mosque is not unidirectional with direction of Masjidil Haram. People’s opinions said that Qibla direction of the mosque is right according to jihatul Ka’bah. This research is integrated with myth and astronomy. The results of this research are different from formerly perspectives. Firstly, ulama received the result of myth but they were not catching messages of the myth. Ulama were only understood of the explicit meanings of the myth but they were not understand of the implicit meanings of the myth. Secondly, Sunan Kalijaga had determined direction Qibla of the Mosque with his knowledge about falak, he was not doing it by only his karomah (divine distinction). Thirdly, the direction of the Qibla at the Great Mosque that was inherited from the Islamic Kingdom of Java was determined its Qibla direction by using ‘ainul Ka’bah method and not only by using jihatul Ka’bah method. The last, Java society has a feodalistic character.

OJK has conducted many socialization activities about microinsurance for low-income people which aimed to increase their literacy of insurance. The service refers to SMES (Sederhana – Mudah – Ekonomis – Segera) and Maslahah Performa value. SMES value to explain the value expected by takaful participants. Maslahah performa to explain the fulfillment of needs to sharia demands by takaful operator. The SMES variable is developed into various sub variables according to SEOJK. Maslahah performa is elaborated to get worship orientation variables and internal process orientation which then be developed into various sub variables. The sub-variable weight is determined according to the importance level of each sub variable. The research finds that a value-based microtakaful service model can be derived from the SMES approach and maslahah performa. There is a linkage between the value-based microtakaful service according to participant expectation and spirituality and sustainability. The reasearch will contribute to increase literacy of microinsurance.
