Abstract

Digestibility of crude protein and energy is used to measure digestibility in poultry, digestible shows of feed substances absorbed by the body which will affect the productivity of quail. This experiment was conducted to study the effect of red dragon fruit liquid additif (Hylocereus polyrhizus), digestibility protein and metabolizable energy by quail female age 16-50 days. Experiment used 200 japanese quails females, 7 weeks age with average body weight of 13.61±0.49 g. The study was conducted in battery cages. The experiment used Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications: T0 (control), T1 (Award liquid additives red dragon fruit twice a day), T2 (one a day) and T3 (two days). The dose of a liquid additive is 5 ml/quail. Observation of digestibility of crude protein (KcPK) and the energy carried by the method of total collection for 3 days, measurements using a bomb calorimeter gross energy and protein analysis using Kjeldahl method.  Data were analyzed using a variety of test F at the level 5%, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (UJBD) there is significant effect of the treatment each treatment was showed liquid additives red dragon fruit was not significant (P> 0.05) on crude protein digestibility and apparent metabolizable energy. The conclusion, the given of liquid additives red dragon fruit did not increase digestibility of crude protein and apparent metabolizable energy. Keywords: quail, red dragon fruit, digestibility of crude protein

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of lesser mealworm meal in feed on the performance of broiler. The materials used for this experiment were 100 Lohmann strain broiler chicks with average body weigth 257.55 + 26.36 g. The treatments were P0 = basal feed, P1 = 0,5% lesser mealworm meal, P2 = 1% lesser mealworm meal, and P3 = 1,5 % lesser mealworm meal and P4 = 2% lesser mealworm meal. The measured variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, mortality and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). Data obtained in this study were analysed by ANOVA Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. Duncan’s Multiple Range Test were used to analize the difference between the treatments.The results of this research showed that the use of lesser mealworm meal as feed ingredient did not significantly influenced (P > 0.05) feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, mortality and very significantly influenced (P > 0.01) Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). It can be concluded that the use of lesser mealworm meal until level of 2 % as feed addition doesn’t improve broiler production performances.Keywords : Lesser mealworm, and broiler

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of castration to Wagyu crossbreed cattle production performance based on age difference and know the appropriate age to do castration. The materials used in this research were 37 heads of 3-month old and 28 heads 4 months calf castration. The method was case studies with purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using unpaired t test. The results showed that the calf castration age of 3 months and 4 months showed significantly different (P <0.05) in daily body weight gain and feed conversion. The average daily weight gain of 3 months old calf castration was 0.78 kg / head / day and 4 months old calf castration was 0.85 kg / head / day and feed conversion of 3 months old calf castration was 5.14 and 4 months old calf castration was 4.48, while the feed intake of the research results were not significantly different. The average feed consumption of 3 months old calf castration was 3.82 kg / head / day and 4 months old calf castration was 3.66 kg / head / day. Calves were castrated on 4 months old showed higher daily weight gain than the calf castration on 3 months old. This could be concluded that 4 months old was more appropriate to do castration. Keywords: Average daily gain, calf stock, feed convertion, castration

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of alternative local feed ingredients kayambang leaf meal (Salvinia molesta) as a fibrous protein source in broiler diet composition on the production performance and blood lipid. The study used one hundred broiler chickens at 15 days old unsex with average weight 500 ± 6,99 g. The study used experimental completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. Ration treatment was arranged for starter and finisher periods including T0 (ration without Salvinia molesta leaf meal); T1 (ration with 6% of Salvinia molesta leaf meal); T2 (ration with 12% of Salvinia molesta leaf meal); and T3 (ration with 18% Salvinia molesta leaf meal). The results showed that Salvinia molesta leaf meal treatment in broiler diet significantly (P <0.05) influenced  body weight gain, feed conversion, and blood lipid. However, the treatment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption and carcass percentage. The conclusion of the study was the use of Salvinia molesta leaf meal decreased the production performance of broiler chickens. In addition, the use of Salvinia molesta leaf meal in broiler rations increased blood lipid profiles although they were still within the normal limits.   Keywords: Salvinia molesta, ration, performance, lipid, broiler

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the performance of sows reproduction intensively in Kambajawa sub-district, East Sumba regency. The study was conducted from January until March 2017 and this research is a survey method with a direct interview to 200 respondents as a population and 196 sows. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistic approach depicted on frequency table for each indicator or dimension. The measured variables were estrus time; estrus cycle; litter size; wean quantity; and mortality rate. Based on this study, it is known that the reproductive performance of the sows maintained intensively was categorized well. Thus, it can be concluded that the reproductive performance of sows in Kambajawa district that is, estrus duration 4.21±1.10 days, estrus cycle 21.15±1.64 days, litter size 8.50±1.39 and 39.71% of mortality.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to study the effects of feeding inulin derived from dahlia tuber powder and extract on the existence of bacteria and growth of caecum in crossbred native chicken starter period. Experimental animals were 280 birds of unsex crossbred native chicken and source of inulin derived from dahlia tuber in the form of powders and extract which were started to be fed on day 22. The present experiment was assigned in completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 4 replications (10 birds each). Feeding treatments were as follows: T0 (basal diet/BD), T1 (BD +0.4% powder of dahlia tuber), T2 (BD +0.8% powder of dahlia tuber), T3 (BD +1.2% powder of dahlia tuber), T4 (BD +0.39% extract of dahlia tuber), T5 (BD +0.78% extract of dahlia tuber) and T6 (BD +1.17% extract of dahlia tuber). Parameter measured were lactic acid bacteria (LAB), Escherichia coli, pH of caecum, height dan weight of caecum. Data were subjected to ANOVA and followed by Duncan. The results indicated that feeding inulin derived from dahlia tuber powder form at 0.8% (T2) and extract form at 1.17% (T6) could increase lactic acid bacteria population, low pH and Escherichia coli, increased height and weight of caecum. In conclusion, feeding inulin derived from dahlia tuber powder at 0.8% (T2) and extract formed at 1.17% (T6) could increase lactic acid bacteria, but on the contrary, it decreased intestinal pH and Escherichia coli population as well as increased height and weight of caecum. Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effect of protein level in the complete feed based on fermented banana pseudostem(CFFBP) on in vitro digestibility. The experiment was conducted from May to August 2016. CFFBP was made at the field laboratory of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Malang. Proximate and in vitro digestibility analysis was carried out at the Animal Nutrition Laboratory, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University. The experiment used Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were P1CFFBP at protein level 12%; P2CFFBP at protein level 14%; P3CFFBP at protein level 16%. The results showed that digestibility of dry matter (DMD), digestibility of organic matter (OMD) and Total Digestible Nutrient (TDN) were significantly affected by the treatments (P<0.01). The highest digestibility of DMD, of OMD and TDN was found at CFFBP with protein level 14%. The DMD value were P171.56%, P2 75.06% and P3 74.32%. The OMD value were P165.53%, P2 68.50% and P3 69,82%. The TDN value were P161.84%, P2 66.07% and P3 64.91%. The experiment concluded that the increasing level of protein in the CFFBP could increase DMD, OMD and TDN, and it was related to the availability of protein and energy ratio. Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of ajitein supplementation as protein source in the ration of dairy cow lactation on milk production and quality. The materials in this research were twelve dairy cows (Friesian Holstein crossbreed). There were 4 treatments, R0= Pennisetum purpureum + concentrate without ajitein + mixed cornbran and soybean husk, R1= Pennisetum purpureum + concentrate with 2 % ajitein (DM concentrate) + mixed cornbran and soybean husk, R2= Pennisetum purpureum + concentrate with 4 % ajitein (DM concentrate) + mixed cornbran and soybean husk and R3= Pennisetum purpureum + concentrate with 6 % ajitein (DM concentrate) + mixed cornbran and soybean husk. The research showed that the treatments did not have significant effect (P>0.05) on dry matter intake (DMI), organic matter intake (OMI), crude protein intake (CPI), milk quality, milk production and Average Daily Gain (ADG). The highest DMI was found on R1 (3.55 % of body weight), OMI was found on R1 (87.06 % of DMI), CPI was found on R1 (14.25 % of DMI), milk production was found on R1 (12.58 kg/head/day) with an increasein milk production approximately 1.32 kg/head. The highest milk quality was found on R2 with 1.0259 kg/l density, 4.61% of fat, 8.46% of solid non fat (SNF), and 13.07% of total solid (TS). The highest ADG was found on R3 1038.10 g/head/day. This meant that ajitein supplementation up to 6% as iso protein on dairy cow ration did not give any effect to milk production, but the use of ajitein could lower the price per kg of feed to produce milk.   Keywords: ajitein, dairy cow, feed intake, milk production, milk quality, ADG

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examined the effectiveness of the used of liquid waste fish preservation in the ration on performance of Mojosari – Pekin crossing duck age 3 - 8 weeks. The material used 120 of male Mojosari - Pekin crossing ducks 3 weeks with an average body weight of 520.30 ± 57.82 g. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, each replications consisted of 6 ducks. The treatment used of liquid waste fish preservation as follows: T0 = 0%, T1 = 2.5%, T2 = 5% and T3 = 7.5%. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and F test at 5% level then continued Duncan double area test if there was effect of treatment. The results showed that the use of liquid waste fish preservation up to 7,5% level did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on ration consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion, but income over feed cost (IOFC) increased with the use of liquid waste fish preservation up to 5% level. The conclusion of this research is the most effective using liquid waste fish preservation is 2,5%.

Abstract

Organic Sludge Biogas Unit (OSBGU) is a product that was generally less noticed by the owner. Filtering solids and liquids of OSBGU would be very helpful for feedstuffs and fertilizer plants. Giving aeration and silica in the fluid of OSBGU as long ripening treatment with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 days was expected to transform the liquid into a better liquid fertilizer of OSBGU. The results showed that the effect of treatment, fermentation time and the interaction among them on the content of liquid OSBGU manure on pH, organic C, N total, C/N ratio, and organic matter was highly significant (P<0.01), except for total N did not have differences (P>0.05). The study concluded that the role of aeration and the addition of silica and long ripening and their interaction was very influential on the content of liquid OSBGU manure on pH, organic C, C/N ratio and organic ingredients, except the N total. The study suggested to use aeration and if necessary by adding silica and fermentation time until on day 7 to improve the content of liquid OSBGU manure.   Keywords: organic sludge biogas unit, pH, organic C, total N, C/N ratio, material organic, fermentation time
