Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out  the influence of Lewis Bond media on student learning outcomes after participating in the learning process of chemical bonding materials. This research is a pre-experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this research was 30 students of 10th grade of computer network engineering class II at SMK Muhammadiyah II Yogyakarta. The instrument of data collection was in the form of learning outcome test questions on chemical bonding materials. The data of student learning outcomes were analyzed by using paired sample t-test with SPSS 24.0. The analysis results obtained a sig value 0.05, which means that there is difference on student learning outcomes after using Lewis Bond media. It shows that the use of Lewis Bond learning media on chemical bonding materials is able to improve student learning outcomes. Keywords: Lewis Bond media, chemical bonds, learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: Preliminary Knowledge Analysis of First-Year Undergraduate Student at UIN Walisongo on Green Chemistry Concept. Green chemistry is a form of application of chemistry in reducing or minimizing environmental problems. The implementation of green chemistry in education aims to increase student awareness of the environment, especially early-level students (students in semesters 1 and 3). This study aimed to analyze the knowledge of the green chemistry concept of early-level students of the Chemistry Education Study Program at UIN Walisongo Semarang. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Respondents from the study were early-level students of the Chemistry Education at UIN Walisongo Semarang, totaling 52 people. The selection of respondents was based on the fact that the students of that class had already received a Chemistry Education course for Sustainable Chemistry, which included applying the concept of green chemistry. The average result of the study was 84%, with a positive response. The study results can be used as a reference for further research. Keywords: green chemistry, sustainable development, first-year undergraduate students. Abstrak: Analisis Pengetahuan Awal Mahasiswa Tahun Pertama di UIN Walisongo tentang tentang Konsep Kimia Hijau. Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility based of Inquiry student worksheets based on Internet Assisted Learning in the reaction rate submaterial to practice critical thinking skills of class XI SMA students. The development research design uses the 4-D method (Define, Design, Develop, and Dissiminate). In this research it is up to the development stage. The trial was carried out on 24 high school class XI students who had not received material on the reaction rate on November 9-20 2020. The research instrument consisted of a review sheet, a validation sheet, a student response questionnaire, a knowledge test sheet, and a critical thinking skill test sheet. The results showed that the student worksheet was very feasible based on the assessment of the validator and student responses of ≥ 81% and achieving a value of ≥ 75 according to the criteria for minimum learning completeness. The validator's assessment based on the eligibility of the content, language, presentation, and graphic criteria showed the percentage of 98.6%, 86.4%, 85,4%, and 100%  in the very valid category. Student response shows a positive response assessment based on the eligibility of the content, language, presentation, and graphic criteria showed the percentage criteria of content is 91.8% , language is 81.7%, presentation is 85%, and graphic 96.7%. The results of the knowledge test obtained an n-gain score of 0.85 in the very high category. The results of the creative thinking skills test obtained an n-gain score of 0.795 in the very high category.

Abstract

Abstract

Numerous studies had reported that students in all level found that study chemistry is difficult. The main cause of the difficulty is the inability of students to visualize the atom or molecules. This study aims to enhance students’ understanding by using   the simple molecular model as the learning resources to help students visualize the shape of the molecules. To achieve the aim, this study employs one-group pre-test post-test design. A conceptual test was used as pre-test and post-test to measure students’ understanding before and after learning with the simple molecular model. Fifty-four first-year cohort students of Chemistry Education Study Program of Department of Mathematics and Science Education of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tanjungpura University were involved in this study. Students’ pre-test and post-test scores were analysed using a paired sample t-test with SPSS. Based on data analysis, a statistically significant improvement in scores (p value = 0.001) was found, which indicates that the Simple Molecular Model could enhance students’ understanding on Molecular Geometry.
