Abstract

Background of the study: X is a social media used mainly by the public as a source of information and can fulfill its users' information needs, including the @literarybase account, which discusses literature and books. Through this, it is expected to increase information literacy skills through information search activities to meet the information needs of its users. Purpose: This study aims to determine the role of auto-base @literarybase in meeting the information literacy needs of its followers. Method: The method used is quantitative with survey techniques. Data was collected online through the distribution of Google form questionnaires to followers of the @literarybase account with a Likert scale as a measurement, and analysis was carried out descriptively. Findings: The @literarybase account has played a role in meeting the information needs and training the information literacy skills of its followers. In content gratification, the @literarybase account fulfills the needs of information sharing and information seeking. In the gratification process, the @literarybase account fulfills entertainment, pass time, escape, habit, and self-expression needs. In social gratification, the @literarybase account fulfills the information needs through social interaction. Finally, regarding technology gratification, the @literarybase account fulfills information needs in the form of relative advantage. Conclusion: The @literarybase account has played a role in meeting information needs and training information literacy skills for its account followers. However, several aspects still need to be fully met, such as the need for self-document in content gratification, the need for campaigns in process gratification, the need for status seeking in social gratification, and the need for social compliance in technology gratification.

Abstract

Background of the study: The Center for Preservation and Media Transfer of Library Materials of the National Library of Indonesia (PNRI) is also responsible for restoring various types of collections. It is necessary to increase and develop competence in handling these collections, considering the various conditions and types of library materials. Preservation of the physical and information needed to make the collection last longer. Purpose: To formulate the strategies for improving and developing the competence of preservation human resources in this unit. Findings: Based on the SWOT analysis, this unit is in quadrant I, meaning that it has great strengths and opportunities to improve and develop competencies. The recommended strategies are: a) facilitating staffs to gain knowledge through education, training, comparative studies, workshops and other conservation events, b) facilitating Preservation Human Resources certification, c) development of managerial and sociocultural competencies, for Head of Working Group, Sub Head of Working Group and staff who are also members of the facilitators/teachers, d) establish various preservation SOPs, e) work closely with the Education and Training Center to accommodate preservation staff training needs, f) create plans for improving and developing well-structured resources, g) sharing knowledge independently among preservation staff. h) Massive socialization of Preservation Performance Competency Standards (SKKNI) to preservation human resources, so that the standards can become a reference for preservation human resources in their work. Conclusion: Competency improvement and development is needed so that preservation activities at the National Library of Indonesia can run even better, so that they can be more beneficial in society.

Abstract

Background of the study: The impact of social media on individuals' information behavior and psychological well-being is significant. Understanding how social media use influences psychological well-being is crucial in our digitally connected environment. Purpose: This study explores the relationship between information behavior on social media and psychological well-being. It investigates how individuals' information-seeking, processing, and usage on social media affect their psychological well-being. Method: A qualitative analysis of relevant literature was conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of the impact of social media on psychological well-being. Scientific journals, research articles, and textbooks in psychology and communication were reviewed. Findings: The analysis revealed a complex relationship between information behavior and psychological well-being on social media. Active social media use can enhance psychological well-being through increased social connections and support. However, negative impacts such as social media addiction, low self-esteem, and unhealthy social comparisons can also affect psychological well-being. Conclusion: Understanding the relationship between information behavior and psychological well-being on social media is crucial for promoting healthy and responsible usage. Identifying influencing factors and developing effective interventions can enhance individuals' psychological well-being. Additionally, studying information behavior and psychological well-being on social media can help identify emerging patterns in the digital era.

Abstract

Background of the study: The exterior design of the library building is an alternative in attracting visitors to come and visit. However, in reality this is not only limited as a means of promotion, it can even be a means of enhancing personal branding. This situation is currently happening to student of IPII UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung who like to take selfies with the exterior view of the library building Purpose: This research aims to explain the effect of the exterior design of the UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah library building on increasing student personal branding through selfies Method: This research uses quantitative methods with explanative approach. Data collection techniques through questionnaires, literature study, and observation. The population and sample were 50 students of IPII at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung who took selfies with the exterior background of the library building and used quota sampling for sampling. Findings: The results explain that there is an influence between the exterior design of the library building on student personal branding through selfies with a significance value of 0.000<0.005 and an influence value of 35.3%. Conclusion: The exterior design of the UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung library building had a significant impact on the personal branding of IPII students in the form of an increase in the number of likes, followers, comments, viewers. Some even got Paid Promote offers and endorsements

Abstract

Background of the study: This study explores financial behaviors and information sources among off-campus university students, emphasizing challenges in using library materials for financial literacy. Purpose: The research aims to comprehensively understand the financial landscape of off-campus university students, identifying key behaviors, information sources, and obstacles related to financial literacy. Method: A cross-sectional survey involving 245 off-campus university students was conducted to gather pertinent data. A self-administered questionnaire served as the primary data collection tool. The collected data underwent analysis using descriptive statistics to draw meaningful insights. Findings: Off-campus university students' major expenses included school-related costs and food. Common financial behaviors included living within means, avoiding borrowing, and budgeting. Despite these practices, many students expressed financial dissatisfaction. Family members were the primary information source, followed by friends, Google, and online books. Libraries were not a significant source. Limited time emerged as the main hindrance to using library materials for financial literacy. Conclusion: In conclusion, off-campus university students, constrained by limited time, face challenges accessing library resources for financial literacy, necessitating targeted programs to address their unique needs and providing valuable insights for institutions and policymakers.

Abstract

Background of the study: Students proficiency in using academic resources is a topic of interest, particularly in social media utilisation, digital information literacy, and online information sharing practices. Purpose: The study investigated the social media proficiency, digital information accessibility and information sharing behaviours among library and information science students, university of Maiduguri, Borno State Method: The study was guided by 3 research objectives and 2 hypotheses. The study consisted 742 undergraduate students, out of which 649 responded to the questionnaire dispersed through online survey. Mean scores and standard deviations were used for descriptive analysis and inferences were made with regression analysis. Findings: Students demonstrated moderate digital literacy skills for academic activities, with average competencies in locating and evaluating quality online sources and leveraging digital tools, (xÌ…w = 3.01, Std. 1.489); and that social media usage among the students is moderately frequent (xÌ…w= 2.97, Std.= 1.48); while collaborative digital learning behaviours are moderately high among the LIS students (xÌ…w = 3.68, Std. = 1.435). Conclusion: Individual student engaged in online collaboration and communication via social media for educational purposes, but still have deficiencies in certain abilities such as evaluating online authenticity, and effectively managing distractions.

Abstract

Background of the study: Social media has a huge impact on students' lives. Social media as a means to view and obtain information. This makes social networking sites very interesting sites and allows for a place to share and also a source of information Purpose: Analyze the role of social media as a means of disseminating academic information for students at the IAIN Kerinci. Method: This research is a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. Data management and data analysis include analyzing and investigating data, grouping data, selecting and classifying what will be processed, searching for and finding patterns. Findings: The impact of social media on users includes building social relationships, increasing interest in economic activities, providing a relaxing effect through entertainment functions, as a means of self-actualization. The role of social media is also very significant for IAIN Kerinci students, apart from being a source of academic information as well as a forum for academic support, learning and as a means of academic communication. Conclusion: The use of social media has become a large source of academic information for IAIN Kerinci students, but it has not yet been utilized significantly for the development of academic quality.

Abstract

Background of the study: Eco-friendly information literacy plays an important role in helping to change public behavior towards a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. Purpose: The aim of this research is to examine various aspects of information literacy within the green and sustainable business programs conducted by The Local Enablers (TLE) in an eco-friendly context. Method: The research method employed is qualitative descriptive study. The research subject is based on the involvement of specific parties with the research object to be studied in-depth. The subjects involved in this study consist of several individuals who play roles in the TLE project team during the planning and implementation of green and sustainable business programs. Findings: This research outlines the information literacy process in the green and sustainable business program at TLE according to the Big6 Model theory, from problem formulation to information evaluation. The Big6 Model assists TLE as a problem-solving framework for the information needs of the green and sustainable business program. Each member of the TLE team is able to explain the process of searching for and using information during program development. Conclusion: Eco-friendly information literacy is well-established within TLE, where they actively seek out and implement new environmental information within the TLE ecosystem. In designing and implementing green and sustainable business programs, TLE recognizes the urgency of environmental issues and understands that the process of information literacy is an effective problem-solving tool.

Abstract

Background of the study: College libraries as centers for quality knowledge management should strive to optimize their services so as to meet the needs of users.  However, it is not possible for libraries to meet all the needs of their users due to certain limitations, so collaboration is necessary. Purpose: This study explains the implementation of Widyatama and Brawijaya University Library collaboration to optimize their services, including organizational structure and collaboration tools, as well as its impacts. Method: This research uses qualitative descriptive methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and literature studies. Findings: The collaboration uses the MoA and has formed a special unit. In its implementation, there are still some lackings. In addition, this collaboration has had more impact especially related to service quality, such as ease of information access and sharing. Conclusion: College library collaboration can improve the quality of education and research and make the institutions that house them more prime through increasing access and quality of services, efficient management of information resources, and empowering academic libraries. This research makes a new contribution in the understanding and implementation of collaboration between college libraries as an effort to optimize library services.

Abstract

Background of the study: Collaboration in the library sector is essential to fulfill the library users' information needs. Purpose: The objective of this study is to investigate the methods, types of collaboration, and challenges involved in the implementation of cooperative efforts between the West Java Dispusipda and UNIKOM Library, to enhance the development and utilization of the library. Method: In this research, a qualitative approach is employed to analyze the data, which is subsequently processed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Findings: The collaboration between the West Java Dispusipda and UNIKOM Library is based on a policy that outlines the roles, responsibilities, and scope of the cooperation. The agreed activity plan includes various initiatives such as enhancing the quality of human resources, exchanging experts, conducting research cooperation, implementing science and technology applications, and collaborating in other areas. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, not all planned activities have been fully implemented. One notable achievement is the accreditation of the UNIKOM Library. Conclusion: Cooperation is an effort to achieve library goals
