Abstract

Data on the diversity of macroscopic fungi in Tahura Pocut Meurah Intan is still not widely available, resulting in a gap in basic data that is essential for conservation, area management, and exploration of biological potential. This study aims to identify the diversity of macroscopic fungal species found in PMI National Park and analyze their distribution based on substrate type and habitat conditions. An exploration survey method was used by following existing hiking trails. Fungal samples found in the field were documented, collected, preserved, and then analyzed morphologically. Data analysis was performed using descriptive qualitative methods, presenting species distribution according to habitat conditions, substrate type, and differences between the rainy and dry seasons. Each category was presented as a percentage of the total identified species. 123 macroscopic fungal species were found, with a dominance of the order Agaricales (39%). A total of 28 species have the potential as alternative food sources, while 17 species have the potential as medicine. The highest diversity was found in habitats with heterogeneous vegetation (85.37%), followed by homogeneous forests (21.95%) and agricultural areas (16.26%). Weathered wood was the main substrate where fungi grew (56%), and the number of species was higher in the rainy season than in the dry season. These findings indicate that the PMI Nature Reserve is an important habitat for macroscopic fungi with variations in distribution influenced by differences in substrate and environmental conditions. Abstract

Buffalo meat is an essential protein source in many regions but faces quality challenges, including oxidation, discoloration, and reduced tenderness. This study investigates the impact of soaking buffalo meat in extracts from melinjau, papaya, and pineapple on its physicochemical properties (color, protein, fat content, and tenderness) and organoleptic characteristics (color, aroma, texture, tenderness, and juiciness). Buffalo meat samples were soaked in fruit extracts for varying durations, followed by analysis of color, protein and fat content, tenderness, and sensory qualities. The results showed significant effects of soaking on color, with melinjau and papaya extracts improving lightness and reducing redness. Soaking with papaya and pineapple extracts enhanced tenderness, while melinjau extract increased juiciness. Protein content decreased slightly, but fat content was significantly reduced, particularly with papaya extract. Sensory evaluation revealed that melinjau extract produced the most favorable tenderness and juiciness, while papaya and pineapple extracts also improved tenderness. These findings suggest that tropical fruit extracts can be used to enhance buffalo meat quality by improving tenderness, reducing fat content, and extending shelf life. This natural preservation method offers a potential alternative to synthetic additives, contributing to better sensory properties and higher-quality buffalo meat products.

Abstract

Abstract: Innovations in education, including electronic teaching materials, enhance students' motivation and understanding, supported by technological advancements. However, the integration of technology in learning remains suboptimal, as observed in Biology education. The topic of viruses is considered difficult due to its abstract nature and complex scientific terminology, while instruction still relies heavily on textbooks with minimal use of technology. This study aims to develop an Android-based e-module on viruses, integrating Islamic values to facilitate students' understanding. The development follows the ADDIE model and is evaluated by experts before being tested with teachers and students. Validation results indicate a very high feasibility level (98% from subject matter experts, 99% from media experts, and 92% from Islamic values experts). The trial results show high approval ratings from teachers (93.7%) and students (90.1%), demonstrating that the e-module is highly effective in supporting engaging, flexible, and meaningful learning, applicable for both in-person and online education.
