Abstract

Biodiversity is the diversity of organisms that indicate the overall variation of genes, species, and ecosystems in a region. This research aims to investigate the aquatic biodiversity in Teupin Layeu Iboih beach Sabang for resources marine ecotourism. The research was carried out from March to June 2014. A descriptive approach was applied to present the research findings to show biodiversity of the Teupin Layeu Iboih. The results of the research found 71 species of coral fish, 21 species of coral, and 15 species of aquatic invertebrates. Biodiversity were found in Teupin Layeu Iboih beach was varied and could be used for attraction in the development of marine ecotourism. Therefore, tourism activity that could be sustainable without being damaged by the nature.

Abstract

This study discusses the results of the research related to ecotourism and environmental education in relation to sustainable life. This study is a literature study. Data were obtained from articles and books related to environmental education and ecotourism and were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results show that the purpose of environmental education is to teach and educate the public about natural environment and ecosystems in order to sustain life. Ecotourism and environmental education are inseparable and must be mutually supportive. Ecotourism development requires environmental education as the base, as much as a tourist area can be used as a source for learning about environment for everyone. Environmental education is intended to improve knowledge about environment which encourages attitude and pro-environmental behaviors, as well as having a positive attitude towards ecotourism and environmental conservation. There is a strong positive correlation between environmental knowledge and people's attitudes towards ecotourism. The study shows that there was a positive correlation of 0.70, which confirms that environmental knowledge (EK) positively influences youth’s attitude towards ecotourism (EA).

Abstract

To achieve meaningfulness in learning, learners are encouraged to take an active role in finding knowledge and building up their own experiences. Applying student-oriented learning models or involving students actively in the learning process is one approach that can be used by teachers. Experiential education is an educational philosophy that describes the educational process that provides direct experience for educators, learners and environment. This paper aims to introduce and discuss the experiential education with, two models of learning based on experiential education, they are experiential learning and service learning. Keywords: experiential education, experiential learning, service learning, meaningful learning

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the performance of professional teachers (post-certification) after obtaining a certificate of professional educators as well as allowances. The main competencies of professional teachers can be assessed by 6 capabilities, including the ability to implement the lesson, create modules and instructional media, preparation of RPP, personal and social competence, liveliness in academic organization and academic achievement development capability. This study is a model study of the Goal-Free Evaluation Model. The study population is all teachers of SMP who have passed the certification in Aceh Besar District. Sampling is done purposive sampling to teachers of science lessons in Secondary Schools in Aceh Besar District. Headmaster Principals are also involved to assess teachers' performance on the aspects of instructional administration. Data were collected using questionnaire, then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive technique. The results showed from 6 Aspects of assessment, four aspects of them are learning ability, modules and learning media, preparation of RPP, personal and social competence have shown high performance. However two others namely liveliness in professional organizations and the development of academic achievement, still in low performance. Hopefully these results can be input for the Office of Education of Aceh Besar Regency as a basic material for improving the quality of education in terms of improving the performance of Professional Teachers in Aceh Besar Regency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keterlibatan masyarakat pada pengembangan dan pengelolaan ekowisata bahari. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Pantai Teupin Layeu Iboih Kecamatan Sukakarya Kota Sabang. Pendekatan dan jenis penelitian bersifat deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode survei dan observasi lapangan. Penentuan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat delapan komunitas lokal yang menjadi penyedia jasa dan memberi layanan wisata kepada para wisatawan yang berkunjung ke Pantai Teupin Layeu Iboih dan lokasi wisata lainnya yang ada di Iboih. Keseluruhan anggota komunitas adalah masyarakat lokal, sehingga secara tidak langsung proses pemberdayaan masyarakat dapat berjalan dengan sendirinya dan partisipasi dalam setiap aktivitas komunitas dirasakan cukup tinggi dalam mendukung pengembangan pariwisata di daerah Iboih

Abstract

Ekowisata merupakan suatu perpaduan dari keprihatinan terhadap lingkungan, ekonomi dan sosial. Pengembangan ekowisata yang berkelanjutan didasarkan pada perpaduan antara perspektif ekonomi dengan perspektif ekologi, dan masyarakat turut andil dalam terwujudnya hal tersebut. Ekowisata yang melibatkan masyarakat dalam segala aspek pengembangan dan pengelolaanya disebut dengan ekowisata berbasis masyarakat. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Pantai Teupin Layeu Iboih Sabang. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan bersifat deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah indepth interview, observasi lapangan, dan studi dokumentasi. Data kualitatif yang telah terkumpul kemudian diolah secara induktif menggunakan model analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan ekowisata bahari di Pantai Teupin Layeu Iboih berbasis masyarakat (community-based ecotourism) karena seluruh aktifitas ekowisata melibatkan masyarakat lokal baik sebagai pemilik (local ownership) ataupun sebagai pengelola dan pemandu wisata (guide), serta pemeliharaan obyek wisata menjadi tanggungjawab mereka, termasuk penentuan biaya untuk wisatawan. Abstract

Teupin Layeu Iboih beach is one of the tourist locations in Sabang City and is one of the locations for marine tourism was developed from mass tourism to ecotourism. This research aimed to assess the suitability of Teupin Layeu Iboih beach as the location of marine ecotourism was carried out from March to June 2014. A descriptive approach was applied by using survey and fi eld observations. The parameters collected are the type of coral reefs, the coral fi sh species, the water depth, the water transparency, the type of beach, the coastal land cover, the bottom material, and the distance of freshwater availability from the beach. Research showed that Teupin Layeu Iboih beach is suitable for marine ecotourism as a recreational area with a value of 73% and very suitable for diving and snorkeling with a value of 86.7%.

Abstract

Solar Dryer Oven Technology as an Effort to Increase Salted Fish Production in the Fishing Communities in Deah Raya Village, Banda Aceh CityAbstract. Salted fish processing is one of the traditional ways of preserving fish carried out by the community when the fish harvest is so abundant, so that it can reduce the impact of losses due to fish spoilage. Implementation of community service is intended to introduce oven solar dryer technology as a simple technology to help realize increased productivity of salted fish processing. The target of PKM implementation consists of two groups, the engkut taleung group and the asen belideung group, in Gampong Deah Raya, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh. The method used in this PKM is a technology transfer method. PKM provides a solution by utilizing technology as an effort to increase the production of hygienic salted fish production in the coastal area of Banda Aceh. The result of this PKM activity is the success in the manufacture and assembly of solar dryer ovens, so that PKM activities can be carried out. Technical training on the use of ovens can run well, marked by an increase in community knowledge and skills in using ovens for drying and making salted fish. Furthermore, the solar dryer oven unit is handed over to the community as a salted fish processing technology that can be the best solution in reducing fish spoilage and damage, and can overcome excess catches that have not been marketed, and produce more hygienic salted fish production.  Keywords: fishing communities, oven solar dryer, salted fish, technology.Abstrak. Pengolahan ikan asin merupakan salah satu cara pengawetan ikan secara tradisional yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat pada saat hasil panen ikan yang begitu melimpah, sehingga dapat mengurangi dampak kerugian akibat pembusukan ikan. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dimaksudkan untuk memperkenalkam oven solar dryer teknologi sebagai teknologi sederhana guna membantu mewujudkan peningkatan produktivitas pengolahan ikan asin.  Sasaran pelaksanaan PKM terdiri dari dua kelompok, kelompok usaha engkut taleung dan kelompok usaha asen belideung, di Gampong Deah Raya, Kecamatan Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. Metode yang digunakan dalam PKM ini adalah metode alih teknologi. PKM ini memberikan solusi dengan memanfaatkan teknologi berupa oven solar dryer sebagai upaya peningkatan hasil produksi ikan asin yang higienis di wilayah pesisir kota Banda Aceh. Hasil kegiatan PKM ini adalah keberhasilan dalam pembuatan dan perakitan oven solar dryer, sehingga kegiatan PKM dapat terlaksana. Pelatihan teknis penggunaan oven dapat berjalan dengan baik, ditandai dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam menggunakan oven untuk melakukan pengeringan dan pembuatan ikan asin. Selanjutnya, unit oven solar dryer tersebut diserahkan kepada masyarakat sebagai teknologi pengolahan ikan asin yang dapat menjadi solusi terbaik dalam mengurangi pembusukan dan kerusakan ikan, serta dapat mengatasi kelebihan hasil tangkapan yang belum laku di pasarkan, dan menghasilkan produksi ikan asin yang lebih higienis.Kata Kunci: masyarakat nelayan, oven solar dryer, ikan asin, teknologi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the problems encountered by biology teacher in implementing ecosystem material in learning teaching. The problem comes from various factors, they were from the teachers themselves, the students’ readiness in accepting the materials, material development that has been used as well as supporting facilities required during the learning process. The data were collected by observation and documentation method. The result showed that the learning process was not effective yet and the students were relatively passive, the learning process was considered less fun. Hopefully the implementation of the material will involve simple practical activities.
