Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the strategy, implementation, and implications of entrepreneurial-based Islamic boarding school management in Pesantren Jawaahirul Hikmah Tumpuk, Besuki, Tulungagung. A qualitative study was conducted. The data were collected by interviewing 7 informants and observations. Data analysis was done logically and systematically following some steps including data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results of the study showed that: First, the entrepreneurship education strategy used is students’ engagement in each stage of activity of entrepreneurship and designing meaningful learning. Second, the implementation of entrepreneurship education carried out by the Jawaahirul Hikmah Islamic boarding school in realizing institutional independence began with the implementation of the vision, mission and entrepreneurship education program as a guide for student creativity. Third, the implications of entrepreneurship education the pesantren were realized by subsidizing half of the students’ fee from the business profit.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the challenges of students from non-religious backgrounds when facing culture shock and highlight the management of self-taught learning carried out by students of one of the Islamic tertiary institutions in Bandung. This article used qualitative research method, a case study. Primary data source came from interviews with eight participants. The data analysis technique used was data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students with non-religious backgrounds who majored in religion at Islamic tertiary institutions experienced culture shock when participating in learning. The culture shock was in the form of being left behind in understanding the core theories of the department, due to their educational background coming from a public school. It required the students to start from zero compared to students with religious education backgrounds (Madrasah Aliyah and pesantren) who could directly participate in learning and deepen the knowledge. Based on the results of interviews with the respondents, the most common self-taught learning they did were study in their free time, study hard and study outside class hours, by reading books from various literacy.

Abstract

Pesantren Jagat Arsy is one of the Islamic boarding schools in South Tangerang Regency, Banten Province that implements a religious learning system using the modeling behavior method. Students are taught how to behave in accordance with the behavior of the teacher as an educator who becomes a model figure for students or students. In this case the researchers wanted to examine how the enculturation of modeling behavior in shaping the Islamic tradition of students with religious attitudes at Pesantren Jagat Arsy. In this study, a descriptive qualitative research method, with observation and interview data collection techniques was implemented. Interviews were conducted with 4 boarding school teachers, and to determine these teachers, purposive sampling techniques were used. After the data were collected, they were then analyzed using qualitative data analysis technique suggested by Miles and Huberman. The results of the study based on the results of interviews and observations concluded that Pesantren Jagat Arsy education prioritizes moral and moral improvement with religious guidance through the modeling behavior method of the teachers. The influence of teacher figures at Pesantren Jagat Arsy is really high in shaping the religious attitudes of students related to behavior and moral values.

Abstract

The affective domain is one of the abilities that is difficult to measure in learning, mainly because it is difficult to find the proper assessment technique. This article described about the the use of diagnostic assessment for measuring students’ affective learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subject. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 85, Palembang. The method used in this research was quantitative method. The sample for this research was 25 sixth-grade students. Data were collected by using diagnostic test and observation. The data analysis technique used was quantitative descriptive analysis, in which the results of the diagnostic tests obtained from 25 students were scored and then calculated using descriptive statistics on each assessment indicator and percentages. The results showed that the highest ability in students’ affective domain was in the willingness to accept indicator with the result of 99% and the lowest in the belief indicator with the result of 53%. Therefore, diagnostic tests could be used to measure the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the affective domain.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the differences in learning outcomes of Islamic education subject using Google Classroom and conventional class in grade VII SMP Negeri 8 Kota Bengkulu. The research method used was a quasi-experiment. The experimental class was given treatment used Google Classroom, while the control class still used conventional method. The populations were 211 students and the samples were 70 students that consist of two classes. Data were collected through tests, in terms of pre and posttests. The data analysis were conducted by using descriptive statistics and t-test. The result of the study was that the use of the Google Classroom model was considered as satisfactory with average score of 83.66 so it gave positive results. Then, the use of conventional class result was relatively low with an average score of 76.54. Based on the Independent Sample T-test obtained by Sig. (2-tailed) values of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that there was a difference in the average student learning outcomes between the Google Classroom and the conventional model.

Abstract

Pesantren has a distinctive Islamic scientific tradition, namely the kitab kuning tradition. However, now a phenomenon exists where kitab kuning is no longer used. This study aimed to explore changes in the habit of Islamic studies at Pesantren Assalaam. This research used a case study qualitative research at Pesantren Assalaam, Sukoharjo, Indonesia. There were 18 respondents consisting of 10 teachers, 4 pesantren administrators and 4 employees. Observations, interviews, and documentation are used to collect data. The main findings of this study revealed that modernization led to a change in the tradition of Islamic studies, which was marked by the absence of kitab kuning in the pesantren curriculum as a learning reference authority. The white book references were used as the typical tradition of developed Islamic studies at Pesantren Assalaam. The white book summarized several kitab kuning that can be evaluated each semester, printed on white paper.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implications of the academic management of Pesantren Musthafawiyah in improving santri achievement and the existence of the pesantren. Given that Pesantren Musthafawiyah is the oldest pesantren on the island of Sumatra, which was established in 1912, and in its history, the pesantren has experienced many challenges in its academic management. The research method used was a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, with the Miles and Huberman model as the data analysis technique. The results showed that the academic management of Pesantren Musthafawiyah had positive implications for students’ achievement both in the academic and non-academic fields. In addition to the academic management of Pesantren Musthafawiyah, it was able to provide positive implications for the existence of the pesantren, the preference of students and parents of students as well as the general public towards Pesantren Musthafawiyah, which viewed Pesantren Musthafawiyah as having excellent, full of achievement, charismatic, popular, having exemplary alumni and consistent in its education system.

Abstract

Good pedagogical and professional competence of teachers will have implications for the graduates produced. The learning process of Islamic education that is in accordance with the standards and also taught by professional teachers will have implications for the quality of Islamic religious education learning itself. Currently, research on the learning process of Islamic religion that is in accordance with the standards, namely taught by professional teachers, has not been widely studied. Therefore, in this study, researchers were interested in discussing these issues precisely in the MTsN 3 East Aceh. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research. In collecting data, researchers conducted observations and interviews with five participants. The collected data were analyzed using interactive data analysis techniques. The results showed that Islamic education teachers at MTsN 3 East Aceh have met the criteria for pedagogical competence and are included in the category of professional teachers.

Abstract

This study aimed to find the influence of the inquiry approach and students’ curiosity on the learning outcomes of cognitive aspects on History of Islamic Culture subject. This research was conducted at MTs Jamiyatul Aulad Palabuhanratu Sukabumi Regency. This research approach was quantitative with the quasi experiment and treatment by level 2 X 2. The number of students who became the samples of the study was 64 students, divided into two groups, each consisting of 32 students. Data analysis techniques were two-path analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey test. The results of this study indicated that 1) learning outcomes of the students taught using the inquiry method were higher than those taught using conventional method, 2) there was an influence of interaction between the inquiry method and the level of curiosity on students’ learning outcomes, 3) learning outcomes of students with high curiosity level treated by inquiry method were higher than students with high curiosity levels given conventional method; and 4) learning outcomes of students with low curiosity levels were higher than students with low curiosity levels given a conventional method.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain an overview of the critical thinking skills and religious awareness of madrasah teachers through three aspects: (1) the transcendental relationship of teachers, (2) teacher religious participation, and (3) the intensity of the teacher’s religious intellect. In addition, the study also attempted to analyze the relationship of critical thinking skills with transcendental relationships, religious participation, and the intensity of teachers’ religious intellectuality. Quantitative research with correlational study was conducted. This study used a stratified random sampling technique. It took 20 to 27 teachers randomly from each madrasah based on the proportion of the number of teachers in each madrasa so that the number of samples reached 154 teachers in Bandung Regency who teach at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Madrasah Aliyah. The data collection techniques of the study were test and questionnaire. The results revealed that there was a significant correlational relationship between aspects of critical thinking and three aspects of religious awareness: transcendental relationships, religious participation, and religious intellectuality. The quality of the relationship varies with the highest significance being the relationship between critical thinking and religious intellectuality, followed by transcendental relationships and religious participation.
