Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis wujud gaya bahasa yang diimplikasikan dalam humor Webtoon Tahilalats karya Nurfadli Mursyid. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Pendekatan ini berorientasi pada gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam humor webtoon Tahilalats. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan mengenai gaya bahasa dalam humor webtoon Tahilalats, dapat diketahui terdapat jenis-jenis gaya bahasa yang didominasi oleh penggunaan jenis gaya bahasa penegasan sebanyak 16 temuan atau setara dengan 43%, penggunaan gaya bahasa perbandingan sebanyak 15 temuan atau setara dengan 41%, penggunaan jenis gaya bahasa pertentangan sebanyak 3 temuan atau setara dengan 8%, dan penggunaan jenis gaya bahasa sindiran sebanyak 3 temuan atau setara dengan 8%. Dari data yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan jenis gaya bahasa penegasan memiliki jumlah yang paling banyak dibandingkan dengan penggunaan jenis gaya bahasa lainnya dalam webtoon tersebut.

Abstract

ABSTRAKBahasa sebagai alat komunikasi hendaknya harus dapat terpelihara dan dijaga dengan baik agar maksud komunikasi mudah dipahamim oleh mitra tutur atau lawan tutur, sehingga komunikasi dapat terjalin dengan baik. Penggnaan bahasa  dalam media sosial ikut menjalin  hubungan komunikasi antara penutur dan mitra tutur dengan mudah. Mudahnya  menggunakan media sosial ini menimbulkan adanya kesantunan berbahasa yang cenderung menurun. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memaparkan ikhwal  ujaran kebencian,  penghinaan,  kritik, emosional , dan menyebarkan berita bohong.  Metode  yang digunakan  dalam penelitian ini adalah  deskriptif kualitatif. Deskriptif kualitatif yang dimaksud adalah mendeskripsikan  data yang diperoleh sesuai dengan ancanagn penelitian ini.  Terkait dengan kualitatif,  data  yang digunakan diambil dari ujaran di media sosial yang terpilih dan isinya merupakan isu yang hangat dan aktual. Teori yang digunakan dalam pembahasan adalah teori kesantunan berbahasa Brown dan Levinson.  Analisis  dan  pembahasan diperoleh bahwa banyak penggunanan bahasa di  media sosial yang melakukan tindak mengancam muka negatife dan positif,  yaitu menggunakan  ujaran kebencian, penghinaan, kritik, emosional, pembahasan dan menyebarkan berita bohongSimpulannya adalah bahawa dalam media  sosial  khususnya  ditinjau dari kesantunan bahgasa terdapat 1) tindak ancaman muka negarif, 2) tindak ancaman muka positif,  3) ujaran kritik , dan 4) ujaran hoax.     Kata kunci: media sosial, kesantunan berbahasa, strategi kesantunan berbahasa,                             tindak ancaman muka                                                                                ABSTRACT Language as a communication tool should be well maintained so that the purpose of communication is easily understood by the speech partner, so that communication can be established properly. The use of language in social media helps to establish communication relationships between speakers and speech partners easily. The ease of using social media can also result in language politeness which tends to decrease. The purpose of this study is to describe hate speech, insults, criticism, emotion, and spreading false news. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Qualitative descriptive in question is to describe the data obtained in accordance with this research plan. Regarding qualitative, the data used is taken from the utterances on selected social media and the contents are hot and actual issues. The theory used in the discussion is Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness. The analysis and discussion found that many uses of language on social media that threaten negative and positive faces, namely using hate speech, insults, criticism, emotional, discussion and spreading false news. The conclusion is that in social media, especially in terms of politeness, there are 1) acts negative face threats, 2) positive face threats, 3) criticism, and 4) hoaxes.                Keywords: social media, language politeness, language politeness strategies,                          face threats

Abstract

Movie has emerged to be a powerful device in shaping perspectives of culture, society and history. The power of visual stimulation can be manifested and exploited politically, socially and economically.  The movie Mean Girls, which premiered in the United States in 2004 actualized the racial stereotypes lobbed at Africans, but with a soft ignorance. The present study aims to observe African stereotypes in American teen movie Mean Girl. This study employed qualitative descriptive method, which is a method of research that attempt to describe and interpret the objects in accordance with reality. The data of this study were collected from scenes and excerpts which contained African stereotypes based on its scripts. The study draws on Doh’s (2009) Stereotyping Africa: surprising answers to surprising questions and February (2019) Mind your colour: The “coloured” stereotype in South African literature. Findings have shown that the African stereotypes are black-skin coloured, wild and savage, financially poor, doing voodoo, and having impolite attitude. These stereotypes indicate the movie Mean Girls tends to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Africans more than the positive ones.Keywords: African stereotype; American teen movie; Mean Girls’s movie

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi dalam kegiatan mempromosikan sebuah produk atau jasa  merupakan hal terpenting untuk dilakukan agar dapat menarik perhatian konsumen dengan tujuan meningkatkan penjualan. Hal inilah yang dilakukan oleh salah satu penyedia layanan aplikasi “Kasir Pintar”. “Kasir Pintar” termasuk penyedia layanan aplikasi terbaru yang dikembangkan sejak tahun 2022 untuk memfasilitasi pelaku usaha dalam mengelola transaksi jual beli sehingga dalam pembahasan artikel terkait “Kasir Pintar” ini belum pernah ada yang menganalisis. Tujuan dilakukan analisis ini adalah mendeskripsikan unsur multimoda yang terdapat dalam video promosi “Kasir Pintar”  sehingga dapat memberikan sebuah hasil analisis pada video promosi penyedia layanan aplikasi “Kasir Pintar”. Metode yang dipilih dalam analisis ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Metode ini peneliti pilih untuk menganalisis kejadian, fenomena, atau keadaan yang saling berkaitan satu sama lain. Hasil analisis multimoda pada video promosi “Kasir Pintar” di antaranya: a) terdapat sistem semiotik yang dapat dianalisis dalam menganalisis multimodal pada video promosi “Kasir Pintar”; b) tiap-tiap sistem semiotik multimoda saling berhubungan satu sama lain dalam menghasilkan makna iklan.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganilisis strategi penerjemahan dan pergeseran kata dalam penerjemahan frasa kata depan Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris. Metode  yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian qualitatif deskriptif. Data yang digunakan diambil dari novel Bahasa Indonesia, Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, oleh Ahmad Tohari, dan novel terjemahannya, The Dancer, oleh René T.A. Lysloff. Data diklasifikasikan ke dalam dua kategori utama, yaitu padanan dan pergeseran kata, yang kemudian diklasifikasikan lagi ke dalam padanan formal, padanan dinamik, unit shift dan cohesion shift. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa padanan dinamik paling sering terjadi, sebanyak 48% dari data keseluruhan.  Abstract This research aims to analyze the translation strategy and shift in translating Indonesian prepositional phrases into English. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The data used in this research are taken from the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari, and its translated version, The Dancer, by René T.A. Lysloff. The data are classified into two main categories, namely equivalence and shift, which are then classified into formal equivalence, dynamic equivalence, unit shift, and cohesion shift. The result shows that dynamic equivalence is most often used in the translation, about 48% of the overall data

Abstract

This article would like to describe the error of maxims and also the meaning of implicatures in the sitcom of Kontrakan Rempong from Warintil Official on Youtube. There were five types of violations of the cooperative principle caused by the speech participants.  The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data is taken from Kontrakan Rempong, titled “Gak Usah Souzon”.  The collecting data are using the documentation method by listening and note-taking techniques from the Kontrakan Rempong’ characters' conversation. Meanwhile, the object of this research is the form and meaning of implicature in humour Kontrakan Rempong. The results of this research indicate the form of conversational implicatures that function as a supporter of humour in humorous discourse, they are:  the Youtube  Kontrakan Rempong has a violation of the maxim of the cooperative principle. In the maxim of quality, there are two categories of violations; they are the words that are used solely to show her or his arrogance and to make the main character a fool. In other words, the error maxim is seemed as trying to evade responsibility. The function of violation of the Maximal Principle of cooperation has been categorized based on existing data like wisdom maxim, acceptance maxim, humility maxim, quality maxim, approbation maxim and quantity maxim. The maxims error is the error of quantity maxim, quality maxim, wisdom maxim approbation and humility maxim. In addition to supporting humour, the error causes many implications related to human nature and real life.Keywords: humour, error, maxim, implicature

Abstract

In this digital era 4.0, more and more people are realizing the importance of learning foreign languages, especially English. They learn through any source they can access digitally and one of the media used is through music and songs. But actually learning English through songs has its own challenges because song lyrics are often different from spoken language, one of which is the use of language style. This research aims at analyzing simile expressions found in the song lyrics of ‘Everything at Once’ by Lenka. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative to analyze the types of simile expressions found in the song lyrics. The analysis of the types of simile expressions is carried out using theory of Zhang and Fromilhague. The result of analysis shows that ‘Everything at Once’ song has 38 simile expressions and they all belong to the type of closed and explicit simile. Keywords: simile, song, lyrics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the aspect of feminism in the novel Aku Lupa That Aku Perempuan by Ihsan Abdul Quddus. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach with the research technique used is content analysis. stereotypes, violence, and double burden. In this study, there are 50 aspects of feminism in the novel Aku Lupa That Aku Perempuan by Ihsan Abdul Quddus. The use of aspects of feminism found in the novel, namely there are 6 marginalizations (12%), 13 subordination (26%), 14 stereotypes (28%), 5 violence (10%), 12 double burdens (24%). Based on the description above, it can be seen that the dominant form of gender inequality in Ihsan Abdul Quddus' novel Aku Lupa That Aku Perempuan is stereotyped as many as 14 quotes in a sentence.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn order to attain coherence, research abstracts must contain a number of crucial steps, although these steps do not always follow the same sequence. Contexts tend to dictate different writing styles. This study looked at how the rhetorical structure or move structures were used, distributed, and arranged in 30 abstracts as incorporating of two Computer Science & Engineering, and Information Systems journals in Indonesia. Each move was classified and categorized using the five-move analysis paradigm developed by Hyland. Findings from the analysis showed that there were 12 organizational move pattern appears. Some had all the five moves, some had four moves and others only three. There were  15 abstracts that contained all the five moves identified with 9 abstracts following  the framework M1-M2-M3-M4-M5, while the other 6 are random. 13 abstracts contained 4 moves with 10 following the M1-M2-M3-M4 pattern, while the other 3 are random. Another 2 abstracts only contained three moves with M1-M2-M3 and M1-M2-in pattern. In conclusion, this present study showed that the 50% of  RA abstracts of the two journals  have fulfilled the Hyland’s five model. Furthermore, in order to assist the student researchers in creating well-written abstracts, it would be good to provide explicit training and experiential learning through a genre-based approach.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted at Indraprasta University PGRI, majoring in English. In additon, this research focuses on students in the third semester. This research was conducted based on the idea that speaking is one of the skills in English that every student must have. This is because speaking is a language skill that has a deep bond with human life. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The researcher uses the listening method, asfollows in the form of tapping techniques to collect data, then the results of the researchers' observation in observing Researchers using the listening technique and  tapping techniques to see the difference in the scores of the students before and after this research. Then, the results of the researchers'will be taken from the observations in observing their discussion activities. Based on the observations, the lecturer has implemented steps to conduct discussions. The researchers used four stages in their research to see the differences in students' abilities. As for the results of the study, the students were able to increase the score of their English speaking abilities in four research cycles, using discussion techniques. In additon, penelitian ini fokus pada para mahasiswa di semester tiga. Penelitian ini diadakan berdasarkan pemikiran, bahwa berbicara adalah salah satu skills dalam bahasa Inggris yang harus dimiliki setiap mahasiswa. Hal ini disebabkan, karena berbicara adalah suatu keterampilan berbahasa yang memiliki ikat an yang mendalam dengan kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Kemudian Peneliti menggunakan teknik menyimak dan sadap untuk mengumpulkan data, kemudian hasil simakan peneliti dalam mengamati Peneliti menggunakan metode simak yaitu berupa teknik sadap untuk mengumpulkan data, kemudian hasil simakan peneliti dalam mengamati  untuk melihat perbedaan nilai para mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, dosen sudah menerapkan langkahlangkah untuk melakukan diskusi. Para peneliti menggunakan empat stages dalam penelitiannya guna melihat perbbedaan kemampuan para mahasiswa. Adapaun hasil penelitian adalah para mahasiswa mampu menaikkan score their English speaking abilities dalam masa empat siklus penelitian, denagn menggunakan teknik diskusi. Keberhasilan mereka tidak lepas dari kemampuan mereka mengatasi kekhawatiran membuat kesalahan dalam baerbahasa InggrisKata kunci: siswa, berbicara, kemampuan, diskusi, nilai
