Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas tentang kanzenchoaku dalam Mukashi Banashi ‘kumpulan cerita’ yang digambarkan pada cerita Oyayubihime, Yuuzuru, dan Shitakirisuzume. Kanzenchouaku dianggap sebagai ideologi yang mengandung nilai moral yang sering kali diangkat menjadi sebuah tema pada cerita anak Jepang. Nilai moral yang diangkat berkaitan dengan suatu perilaku kebaikan akan dibalas dengan kebaikan, dan perilaku yang tidak baik akan mendatangkan hal yang tidak baik pada individu tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan gambaran kanzenchoaku melalui pelaku cerita pada cerita Oyayubihime, Yuuzuru, dan Shitakirisuzume dalam  Mukashi Banashi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif analisis dan teori struktural dari Nurgiyantoro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaku cerita yang telah melakukan kebaikan menolong seekor binatang, mendapatkan balasan kebaikan dari binatang yang pernah ditolongnya. Sebaliknya, pelaku cerita yang telah melakukan perilaku tidak baik, sepert ingkar janji, berbuat kejam, sewenang-wenang, menerima balasan yang tidak baik atas perbuatannya tersebut. Kata kunci: cerita anak, kanzenchouaku, mukashi banashi  ABSTRACT This study discusses kanzenchoaku which are described in the Oyayubihime, Yuuzuru, and Shitakirisuzume in Mukashi Banashi's 'collection of stories’. Kanzenchouaku is considered as ideology that contains moral values which usually appear as a theme in Japanese children's stories. It often relates to good behavior will be rewarded with kindness, and bad behavior will bring bad things to the individual who conduct the action. This study aims to describe the depiction of kanzenchoaku through the characters in the Oyayubihime, Yuuzuru, and Shitakirisuzume in Mukashi Banashi stories. The research method used is descriptive analysis method and Nurgiyantoro’s structural theory. The results of the study show that the characters of the story who have done good to help an animal, get  kindness in return from the animal they have helped. On the other hand, those  who have committed bad behavior, such as breaking promises, being cruel, or being arbitrary, will have punishment for their actions. Keywords: children's story, kanzenchouaku, mukashi banashi

Abstract

 This study aims to identify the types of directive illocutionary acts by Searle and perlocutionary acts by Austin, which occur in the novel The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh. The researcher used descriptive-qualitative method. The data of this study were taken from 282 utterances containing directive illocutionary acts. The first result shows that only seven of the eleven types of directive illocutionary acts were found; ask (175), beg (11), command (8), demand (29), command (36), ask (8), and warn (15). The results of these two studies showed two types of perlocutionary acts, namely successful (175) and unsuccessful (107).

Abstract

This paper explores the view of family memory in the movie Coming Home (2014) to underline the importance of family memory in maintaining the family wholeness. This paper is a qualitative study with sociological approach focusing on the concept of family memory by Halbwachs. The results of this paper demonstrate that the presence of family memories determines one’s perception and action toward other family members and helps family members to encounter challenges that occur within the family or in the society. Meanwhile, the absence of family memory makes someone care less to other family members and get easily influenced by external factors outside the family. Family memory is concurrently possible to maintain cultural tradition within a family and even a nation, thus family memory between family members goes beyond family affair, not only strengthen and unite a family but also a nation.

Abstract

Identity shows one's identification in a social context, but in fact social conditions still tend to require citizens to identify themselves based on skin color and sexuality that has been determined and deemed appropriate. Such conditions are seen as homogenizing behavior. The Vanishing Half (2020) establishes the identity of its characters as a rejection of the homogeneity of skin color and sexuality in America. The rejection is reflected in the identity construction of the characters in The Vanishing Half (2020) which features mulatto people to show that skin color identities are not only black or white but can vary widely, and presents transsexual characters to show that a person's sexual identity is not just limited to naturally men and women. The identity construction of the characters is carried out to redefine the concept of identity in a fluid social society. Identity re-conception is carried out as an effort to build awareness of the concept of identity which is fluid, layered, changeable and diverse, so it is necessary to carry out legal protection of identity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis semantik desain bangunan di Yogyakarta dalam perspektif etnomatematika. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan studi pustaka. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan studi literatur. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis secara semantik lima desain bangunan yang ada di Yogyakarta dalam perspektif etnomatematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan desain bangunan di Yogyakarta lebih didominasi bangunan yang berbentuk limasan atau gunungan pada bagian atapnya. Desain bangunan yang terdapat di Yogyakarta mengandung unsur semantik yang berbeda-beda.

Abstract

This research was a qualitative research that aimed at examining the refusal strategies and refusal seqences used by Javanesse in the novel Pinatri Ing Teleng Ati karya Tiwiek AS. The research was done in three steps, that is, collecting data, analyzing data, and presenting the results. Language variation used in this analysis is Javanese vernacular language which used in daily conversation. The results showed that all three refusal strategies, direct, indirect, and adjunct, were used by characters in the novel. Direct strategies consisted of performative statement while indirect strategies consisted of reason/explanation, statement of alternative, statement of principle, statement of phylosophy, attempt to dissuade interlocutor, acceptance functions as refusal, and avoidance. Adjunct strategies consisted of pause filler and gratitude. Furthermore, the characters also used three sections of refusal strategy, pre-refusal, lead act, and post-refusal. The results also revealed that not only social factors influencing the refusal strategies used but also the state of relationship between interlocutors. The deteriorating relationships will increase the tendency of choosing the higher level face-threatening strategies.

Abstract

Kesalahan adalah hal yang umum dalam belajar bahasa asing. Bagi pembelajar bahasa, tata bahasa dapat memberikan banyak tekanan dalam proses pembelajaran. Kalimat atau pernyataan yang tidak gramatikal menyebabkan pembicara mengalami kesulitan dalam menyampaikan pesan dalam berkomunikasi. Untuk mencari tahu masalah yang ada, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) kesalahan tata bahasa yang ditemukan pada tugas online pembelajar EFL, (2) kesalahan tata bahasa yang paling dominan ditemukan pada tugas online pembelajar EFL. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data diambil dari tugas siswa melalui grup WhatsApp dan Google Classroom. Bentuk data yang 2diambil adalah bentuk lisan dan tulisan. Dari hasil akhir dapat disimpulkan bahwa omission merupakan kesalahan yang paling dominan ditemukan pada tugas online siswa dengan 9 kesalahan dan persentasenya adalah 45%. Urutan kedua kesalahan dari segi jumlah adalah addition dengan 6 kesalahan dan 30%, selanjutnya misordering atau salah susun dengan 4 kesalahan dengan 20% dan terakhir adalah kesalahan formasi atau misformation dengan 1 kesalahan dan 5%. Diharapkan dari penelitian ini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi pembelajar bahasa untuk mengetahui kesalahan yang sering dilakukan selama proses pembelajaran bahasa asing terutama kesalahan tata bahasa.Kata kunci: analisis kesalahan, kesalahan tata bahasa, tugas online

Abstract

The abstract is now a required part of a Research Article (RA) for most scientific publications. It is recognized that the functions, linguistic realizations, and rhetorical structures of abstracts and RAs vary (Lores 2004). The study aims to examine how each step in RA abstracts is expressed linguistically. The data come from 30 RA abstracts taken from two Informatics, Computer Science & Engineering, and Information Systems in COMMIT (Communication and Information Technology) Journal and Khazanah Informatika, Jurnal Ilmu Komputer dan Informatika published in 2021-2022. According to Hyland's theory, the writers enumerated each move frequency of the rhetorical structure: Introduction (M1), Purpose (M2), Method (M3), Results (M4), and Conclusion  (M5). The writers then examined each move's linguistic realizations, paying particular attention to the word tense and lexis. It was discovered that the category of "innovation in a field" was the most frequently used one in Move 1; "this" predominates in the category of deictic item in Move 2; and "use" and "show" are the most frequently used verbs in Move 3. Move 4 contains 25 that-complement phrases; At move 5, mixed results were found for each cohort. In Moves 1, 2, 4, and 5, the Present tense was used the most. In all the movements, the active voice predominated, and the passive voice was applied more in Move 3. The findings are a practical guide for beginning researchers conducting comparable studies.

Abstract

AbstrakBerbicara tentang sosiolinguistik tidak terlepas dari penggunaan bahasa dalam konteks masyarakat tutur (speech community). Salah satu fenomena sosiolinguistik yang menarik di Timor-Leste adalah pergeseran dan pemertahanan bahasa (language shift and maintenance) sebagai akibat dari kontak bahasa (language contact).  Tujuan dari penelitian ini mendeskripsikan pergeseran bahasa Tetun, Portugis, dan Indonesia di Timor-Leste secara kualitatif. Metode penelitian ini deskriptif-kualitatif dengan teknik studi kepustakaan dan studi lapangan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan adanya pergeseran dan pemertahanan bahasa yang sangat menarik terjadi di Timor-Leste. Sebelum integrasi dengan Republik Indonesia (tahun 1975 dan sebelumnya), bahasa Portugis digunakan sebagai bahasa resmi kenegaraan, bahasa liturgi keagamaan, sementara bahasa Tetun sebagai bahasa daerah (vernacular). Pada masa integrasi dengan Indonesia (1975 – 1999), bahasa Indonesia berkedudukan sebagai bahasa resmi kenegaraan dan lingua franca/bahasa persatuan, sedangkan bahasa Tetun tetap sebagi bahasa daerah, dan bahasa Portugis sebagai bahasa asing. Dewasa ini bahasa Tetun dan Portugis berstatus sebagai bahasa resmi kenegaraan, sedangkan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa kerja (asing). Kata kunci: pergeseran bahasa, pemertahanan bahasa, kontak bahasa, lingua franca, vernacular AbstractTalking about sociolinguistics, it is inseparable from the use of language in the context of speech communities. One of the interesting sociolinguistic phenomena in Timor-Leste is the language shift and maintenance as a result of language contact. The purpose of this study is to describe the language shift and maintenance of Tetun, Portuguese and Indonesian in Timor-Leste qualitatively. This research method is a descriptive-qualitative research using library research techniques and field studies. The findings of the study indicate a shift and very interesting language maintenance took place in Timor-Leste.  Before integration period with the Republic of Indonesia (1975 and earlier), Portuguese was used as the official state language, religious liturgical language, while Tetun was the vernacular language. When East Timor got integrated with Indonesia (1975 - 1999), Indonesian language was used as the official language of the state and the lingua franca, while Tetun remained as a vernacular language, Portuguese as a foreign language. Today Tetun and Portuguese are used as official state languages, while Indonesian is one of (foreign) working languages. Keywords: language shift, language maintenance, language contact, lingua franca, vernacular

Abstract

Psycholinguistics has contributed to numerous theories that explain how a person acquires language, produces and uses spoken and written language. Without adequate English language skills, BSI students will face fundamental problems in their studies, especially in class discussions. A descriptive study was conducted to describe the problems faced by Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) students during class discussions. This study uses a qualitative method design. A total of 3 students who took part in this study were from the BSI English Department. This study collected data using semi-structured interviews. From the results of the research conducted, there were findings of several causes of mistakes made when students were talking, including children who feels anxious when speaking during discussions. Elements of this error can be classified based on the realm of psychology. The causes of mistakes that have feelings of anxiety and worry are related to the affective domain.
