Abstract

Human life is dynamic in maintaining the balance of their soul. Life problems such as family conflict have an impact on mental balance. This study analyzed a bipolar patient, based on the result of observation, in-depth interviews, and relevant documents from one of the mental hospitals. Freud and Jung were chosen as a method for analyzing the concept of self-defense. The purpose of the study was to analyze bipolar psychiatric condition by finding the factors that influenced it. The findings revealed that life experience formed spirituality with zikir continually and practiced prayer despite the bipolar condition. Self-defense by continuing to maintain religious behavior as religious healing is one of the alternative solutions by involving the role of the family.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh koping religius terhadap penerimaan diri pada veteran yang mengalami disabilitas fisik. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode ex post facto. Instrumen koping religius yang digunakan adalah Brief RCOPE dan instrumen penerimaan diri adalah Berger’s Self Acceptance. Hasil penelitian menemukan adanya pengaruh signifikan antara koping religius terhadap penerimaan diri veteran yang mengalami disabilitas fisik. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini adalah perlunya program pendampingan psikologis untuk para veteran yang mengalami disabilitas fisik untuk dapat lebih optimal dalam hal penerimaan diri dan kesejahteraan mental psikologisnya.

Abstract

This study aimed to observe the correlation of family functionality and moral disengagement among the adolescents mediated by religiosity. It involved the adolescents (N =263) aged from 13 to 17 years old. The measurement tools used in this study included the scale of family functionality using family assessment device (FAD) made by Epstein et al. (1983), The scale of Indonesian-Psychological Measurement of Islamic Religiousness (I-PMIR) arranged by Salsabila et al. (2019), and Mechanisms of Moral Disengagement developed by Bandura et al. (1996). Correlation coefficient showed that the family functionality was correlated with religiosity and moral disengagement. In contrast, religiosity was negatively correlated with moral disengagement. Analysis used Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) program AMOS 24, The results of this study showed that the religiosity fully mediated the correlation of family functionality and moral disengagement. The implementation of this study showed that to decrease the level of moral disengagement among adolescents there should be the involvement of communication among the family members and parents need to embed the religious values in family and make the adolescents to habitually do the order that has been suggested by religion.

Abstract

The dissertation written by M. Darwis Hude entitled "Human Emotions in the Qur’an: Study through a Psychological Approach" is an effort to explore and formulate the concept of emotions that exist in the Qur’an. This study aims to conduct a critical review of the work of Darwis Hude in order to develop a scientific concept, particularly on the study of emotions in the Qur’an. This research is a qualitative research with a critical review study method which aims to evaluate, review, interpret and analyze the contents of an article or book by considering the strengths and the weaknesses of a work. The results of the study found that Hude's dissertation which is explicitly psychological and theological in nature becomes the spirit of studying the essence and noble values ​​of the Qur’an. In terms of the preparation and writing of the book, it is quite interesting to study but it needs a comprehensive development with other branches of science. In addition, Hude in explaining verses related to emotions tends not to use the interpretation or views of the cleric. In terms of number of pages, there are several chapters that are less efficient but the last two chapters are quite ideal for important discussions. Then in terms of references Hude has balanced using relevant references, including books. It's just that the views of the clerics or their interpretations are less emphasized.

Abstract

Stress can cause various problems that distrupt the life of students and their educational process at the boarding school. This study aims to see the effectiveness of writing a letter of gratitude in reducing stress levels of the students at the Darul Arqam Gombara Islamic Boarding School Makassar. This study is an experimental research used pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects in this study found 14 people (8 people in the experimental group and 6 people in the control group) who were students who indicated experiencing stress. The measuring instrument used in this study is the stress level scale compiled by the researcher, with a reliability value of 0.785. Analysis of the data used is nonparametric analysis with the Mann Whitney U-test method. The results of this study indicate that the intervention of writing a letter of gratitude is effective in reducing stress levels in students. These results can be seen from the significant difference after being given treatment in the experimental group and the control group with a p-value = 0.029 (p <0.05) with a mean of 8.81 for the experimental group and a mean of 4.1 for the control group. As the conclusion, the technique of writing gratitude letters is effective in reducing the stress level of students, so it can be used by students who have high stress levels.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of giving the Murottal Al-Qur'an to the decrease subject’s level of false memory. Experimental design with post-test only control group design was used in this study. Participants involved in the study were 60 psychology students in the first semester by using random sampling. Participants grouped into an experimental group and a control group, each consisting of 30 participants. The instrument used was a false memory question comprising of 30 questions been validated by expert judgment at the trial stage. The instrument validation was carried out qualitatively by three lecturers with psychological and measurement backgrounds. Validation results show that there are language and content improvements in the instruments used, and then the authors correct them so that all experts agree that the instrument is suitable for use. Meanwhile, the results of the study show that there is a significant difference between the two groups given treatment and not, where from the score obtained, the experimental group obtained a greater score on filling in the false memory test than the control group. These studies inform that giving Murottal Al-Qur'an can reduce the level of false memory in the subject.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of the disposition of patience on the effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating. Participants involved in this study were 340 people with 38% women (mean age of all subjects = 19.3 and SD = 2.01). The measuring instrument used to measure the self-efficacy variable is the General Self Efficacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), the patience variable is measured by the First version of the Patience Scale (El Hafiz Lila, Rozi, Ilham, 2013), and the academic cheating variable is measured by the Academic Dishonesty Scale (Bashir & Bala, 2018). The statistical analysis used in this study is the moderating analysis of Process Hayes (2013) which provides an overview of the role of the disposition of patience on the effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating. The disposition of patience will strengthen the negative effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating. The results show that patience acts as a significant moderating variable on the effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating and the disposition of patience strengthens the negative effect between these variables. Where, the negative effect on the effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating depends on the disposition of the level of patience. The higher the disposition of patience, the higher the negative effect of self-efficacy on academic cheating.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of intellectual humility, multicultural personality (cultural empathy, open-mindedness, emotional stability, flexibility, and social initiative), religious orientation (quest religiousness, intrinsic religiousness, and extrinsic religiousness) toward religious tolerance on students of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta. Participants in this study involved 360 students using non-probability sampling as a sampling technique. As for religious tolerance measuring instrument uses a measuring instrument from RT Witenberg`s theory with modified into the scale. The intellectual humility variable uses the Comprehensive Intellectual Humility Scale (CHIS), the multicultural personality variable uses the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire Short Form (the MPQ-SF) and the religious orientation variable uses the Introduction to the New Indices of Religious Orientation (NIRO). The findings show a significant influence between intellectual humility, multicultural personality, and religious orientation toward religious tolerance with a proportion of variance of about 51%. The four significant variables are intellectual humility, cultural empathy, open-mindedness, intrinsic religiousness. While the influence of emotional stability, flexibility, social initiative, quest religiousness, and extrinsic religiousness has no significant effect. multicultural personality and religious orientation toward religious tolerance with a proportion of variance of about 51%. Abstract

The internet has become a primary need for everyone nowasdays, including teenagers. Ease access to information through the internet is one of factors that make teenagers addicted to the internet. The self-control factor is an important factor that is often associated with internet addiction, besides that internet addiction is also thought to be caused by a lack of internalization of religious values ​​or what is called religiosity and Intelligence Quotient. The research method in this study was field research by using descriptive and correlational quantitative approaches. The research subjects in this study were teenagers 14 to 24 years who lived in Banjarmasin city with totaling 712. The composition was 324 males and 388 females. The sampling technique used in this study was the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling procedure, namely the sample selection process, where all members of the population had the same opportunity to be selected by considering the strata (levels). Based on the results of the study, it was found that the Sig-value was 0.972 (P>0.05). So, It could be concluded that internet addiction had no significant correlation to teenagers’ religiosity and Intelligence Quotient in Banjarmasin City.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the process of self-regulation of Qur'an reciters tutors at Ma'had al-Jami'ah IAIN Bengkulu. This research used descriptive qualitative method by involving 12 student as respondens who have completed memorizing more than 5 Juz and are currently in 5th and 7th semsester. Data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. It was found that two factors form self-regulation of Qur'an reciter students. Internal factors are self-observation, judgmental process, and self-response. The external factor is support from a closed family. In addition, there are supporting and inhibiting factors in the self-regulation process. Supporting factors in the form of an intention to memorize, have a memorizing target, and strong motivation and support from the closest people. The inhibiting factors are laziness, finding difficult vocabulary, gadgets, and negative mood disorders.
