Abstract

Tourist village as a new trend of tourism that has been growing rapidly in Yogyakarta. Based on attractiveness, accessibility, facilities, community empowerment, marketing and promotion, institutional, and human resources, tourist villages are devided into growing, developing and developed categories. Wetland rice agrotourism offers attractions in tourist village that leads to increasing income of the perpetrators (main actors, supporting actors, and managers). This descriptive research aimed to compare agro-tourism perpetrators’s income contribution to household income in various categories of tourist village in Yogyakarta. This research was purposively conducted in Gabugan, Pancoh and Pentingsari Village as representation of grow, developed, and advanced tourism villages. The result depicted that the contribution of wetland rice agrotourism to household income of all agro-tourism actors was low in all tourism village categories. This indicates that the wetland rice agro-tourism has not contributed significantly in supporting the domestic economy of the perpetrators. The results of the study show that the advanced tourism villages have a higher contribution of income compared to developing and growing tourism villages.

Abstract

Food security has three subsystems namely food availability, food access and food utilization. To reduce poverty and to improve food security, Yogyakarta City implements food barn program. This research was conducted in food barns village and non food barns villages in Seyegan District. Samples were taken, namely the household of farmers as much as 100 respondents. Sampling was done by a random sampling method. Using cross classification analysis between food expenditure share (PPP) and energy adequacy rate (AKE) to determine the level of food security and using the method of Logit Ordered Model to see the influence of the status of food barns against food security opportunities for farm households. The result showed that food barns in foodresistant state was 58%, vulnerable to food was 8%, less food 9% and foodprone to 4%, while non food barns villages showed food-resistant state 56%, food vulnerable 5%, less food 6 % and food prone 11%. Food security opportunities for food-resistant farmers in food barns village are higher than the village of food barns. The results of the analysis using ordinal logit method showed that the price of tempe and tofu, household income, the number of household members and dummy village status, affects the opportunity of food security farmers ' households.

Abstract

Food security has meaning not only the availability of adequate food, but also providing security for producers and consumers and ensuring environmental sustainability for sustainable production. Organic farming systems are expected to solve the problem for realizing food security and enhancement of people's welfare. The results of research indicated that, (1) The implementation level of Standard Operating Procedure-Good Agriculture Practice (SOP-GAP) of Organic Rice Farming in Bantul district was quite high, (2) The implementation level of SOP-GAP of Organic Rice Farming related to the availability of capital, the selling price and the purchase price of inputs (seeds and fertilizers), (3) The level of the farmer's decision related to the implementation level of SOP-GAP of organic rice farming, and (4) development of organic rice farming required availability of sufficient capital. In this regard the government, particularly the agriculture authority and food security agency need to disburse or facilitate capital for farmers in revolving as well as low interest loans.

Abstract

Land is the main input in agricultural production and also a wealth-generating asset for farmers. There are three common forms of agricultural land ownership:owned land, rented land, and sharecropped (kedokan) land, where each of them are directly affects the farming performance. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of land ownerships on farm production, labor use, and farm economic efficiency. The sample used in this study were 150 farmers equally distributed in each ownership group from a population of 1039 farmers. Cobb-Douglas production function, F-test, and RC ratio were used to estimate production function, the difference in labor use, and farm economic efficiency. The results showed that rented land has the highest productivity followed by owned and sharecropped(kedokan) land. Meanwhile, the sharecroppedkedokan)land has the lowest labor use, followed by rented and owned land. However, in term of profitability, owned land is the highest followed by rented and sharecropped land. The results also showed that sharecropping(ngedok) as an informal contract farming between farmer and landlord was the best economic choice for the landlord. Furthermore, to improve farmers welfare, the landless farmers should be facilitated to own their own land.

Abstract

Organic vegetable products tend to have higher prices compare to non organic, therefore most consumers think organic vegetable products are expensive products. This research aims to determine consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for organic vegetable product and influencing factors towards WTP. This research was conducted in 6 modern market in South Jakarta by interviewing 100 consumers who were selected using quota sampling technique. Data were analyzed using contingent valuation method (CVM) to determine the average value of consumers’ WTP and logistic regression employed to determine the factors that influence WTP. The results showed that 82% consumers are willing to pay higher prices to buy organic vegetables products, with additional range between 8.5% to 15% from the real price. Factors that significantly influenced consumers’ willingness to pay were education level, monthly income and product quality.
