Abstract

Background: Empowering impoverished communities has been a long-standing endeavor. However, the persistent prevalence of poverty still affects approximately 25 million individuals (BPS, 2023). Nevertheless, the government continues its relentless efforts to minimize the presence of impoverished families. One of the strategies employed is the implementation of the Family Hope Program (PKH). PKH stands as a program that has effectively fulfilled its mission. Various research studies have been conducted to comprehend the processes, mechanisms, impacts, and societal implications. However, research exploring the cross-sectoral communication aspects, elaborating on the involvement of stakeholders and PKH implementers spanning multiple institutions, remains lacking. Purpose: This research aims to measure the level of influence of multi-sectoral integration communication on the performance of individual PKH implementers. Methods: The employed methodology is an explanatory survey. The surveyed population comprises civil servants engaged in PKH. The population size consists of 80 individuals. Probability sampling is utilized as the sampling technique, with a sample size of 44 respondents, determined using the Slovin method. Hypothesis testing employs Path Analysis. Results: The research findings indicate a significant influence of cross-sectoral communication factors, encompassing organizational member perceptions, organizational strategies, communication climate, media quality, information accessibility, information dissemination, information accuracy, and organizational culture, on the performance of individual PKH implementers. Conclusion: Organizational member performance emerges as a critical aspect for the success of PKH implementation. The research results demonstrate that this performance is influenced by several factors, including information accessibility, media quality, information accuracy, organizational communication climate, organizational culture, information dissemination, and organizational strategies in the execution of the PKH program. Implications: The success of PKH is contingent upon the performance of individual members from collaborating institutions. Enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of individual performance factors can be achieved by synergizing with cross-sectoral communication components.

Background: Indonesia is a disaster-prone area, situated in the equatorial zone where several tectonic plates converge, and the Ring of Fire runs through. Indonesia requires an effective disaster mitigation system to minimize risks and losses during disasters. Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) is a non-departmental government institution. Through its mobile application and official website, BMKG actively provides various information accessible to all Indonesians. Purpose: The research aimed to understand how BMKG conducts environmental communication and disaster mitigation through a mobile application and website. Methods: This research is descriptive qualitative using a constructive paradigm. The data was collected using documentation and observation studies. The authors carried out content analysis using Philipp Mayring’s methods on the “Info BMKG” application and the website http://www.bmkg.go.id/. Results: The BMKG application and website cover some aspects of environmental communication, including rhetoric, media, public participation, and education campaigns, delivering a range of environmental messages. They facilitate disaster mitigation by providing information and vulnerability maps for different types of disasters but lack details on regulatory measures and planning for disaster-prone areas. Conclusion: The BMKG application and website effectively communicate environmental and disaster-related information but need to improve coverage, speed of notifications, and include more details on regulation and planning for disaster-prone areas. Implications: This study suggests the need to enhance the platforms’ content and user education. Besides, it emphasizes theoretical implications for communication, public participation, and media theories in the context of disaster risk reduction.

Abstract

Background: Aceh Jaya Regency is currently deeply committed to developing regional tourism as part of the community’s economic recovery following the 2004 tsunami disaster. The Aceh Jaya government has established five tourism villages and identified ten flagship tourism destinations, which are supported by Aceh Jaya Regent Regulation No. 10/2019 on Halal Tourism. Marketing communication is not only useful in connecting tourism businesses with consumers in the post-disaster tourism industry but also essential for emphasizing the differentiation of tourism products and providing added value to potential tourists. Purpose: This research is urgent because it provides an in-depth analysis of post-disaster tourism marketing communication management in Aceh Jaya Regency using the SOSTAC approach. Methods: This research used qualitative methods, with data gathered through interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations. Moreover, data analysis employed thematic analysis to categorize certain themes and obtain analytical generalizations. Result: The research showed that the Aceh Jaya government has implemented a post-disaster tourism management process that includes various aspects, such as identifying tourism potential, empowering local communities in the tourism sector through partnership programs, developing supporting infrastructure, and promoting tourism. This is done because the local government is fully aware that sustainable tourism development will have a positive impact on the economic growth and welfare of the people of Aceh Jaya. Implications: The findings of this study suggest that adopting the SOSTAC approach in future post-disaster tourism marketing communication strategies, supported by policy, can have a multiplier effect on the economic growth of the community.

Background: The cultural practice of inheritance through the female lineage, known as matrilineal relationship, is built on the belief in inheritance values that women are more appropriate to be heirs. However, belief alone is not enough to build a shared commitment to maintain the cultural relationship of the matrilineal system. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the process of matrilineal cultural relations in the interpersonal relationships of the indigenous people of Kampung Pulo, Garut. Methods: It employed a phenomenological study with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation and interviews. The participants were selected purposively with a total of 10 informants consisting of the customary head, deputy customary head, and indigenous people of Kampung Pulo, the original descendants of Embah Dalem Arief Muhammad. Result: This study shows women in the indigenous people of Kampung Pulo play a crucial role in cultural inheritance, especially in preserving heirloom property. Some aspects of interpersonal relationships strengthen matrilineal relationships among the indigenous people of Kampung Pulo. Matrilineal cultural relationships are maintained because they are believed to have values, such as togetherness, harmony, mutual respect, nurturing, and cooperation. Conclusion: The family of the indigenous people of Kampung Pulo is more harmonious with the matrilineal cultural relationship system.
