Abstract

The main objective of this study was to capture and analyses the role of visual resources and time pressure as they affect customer behaviour in the hospitality industry. This study examined effective reactions on booking time and type based on vacation advertisements. The research method had a 3 x2 within-subjects design with 6 experimental conditions obtained by crossing the levels of two independent variables: 1) Time pressure (i.e., exact date, number of days left and counting-down timing); 2) Visual source (i.e., video and picture). The study designed a self-report questionnaire based on 8 socio-demographic items and three conceptual elements, such as the facility quality, environmental features and promotional attractiveness. This research provided data regarding the differences in visual source and time pressure in marketing promotion. It showed that videos had more impact on customer perceptions regarding the facility quality and environmental features. The study outlines the value of marketing strategies in building content and successful design in differentiating a resort from the competition and offering a positive experience (low investment yielding high return) for millennial.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the perceptions of local communities to participate in tourism development. The method used in the research is a quantitative approach. Questionnaires were distributed to local communities in major destinations in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. There were 200 data set analyzed by factor analysis. The result showed that from 28 indicators of community participation, eight groups of factors formed. The groups are 1) place attachments; 2) perception of negative consequences; 3) Community Involvement; 4) Infrastructure Development; 5) Place Satisfaction; 6) Economic Benefit; 7) Government Support; 8) Community Collaboration. This result also shows that place attachment, perception of negative consequences, place satisfaction, and community collaboration have higher factor loading compares to other groups. The finding implies that in gaining community participation, these factors could be considered as the essence of communication message in raising public awareness and participation for tourism development.

Abstract

West Java Province has many tourism potencies, consisted of nature, history or culture. In its development, tourism in West Java has not delivered a strategic solution to problematic among the people. Referring to the Legislation of Tourism No.10/2009, one of the principles on tourism establishment is to provide benefit on people’s wealthy and to empower local people. In this study, the locus of Karang Paranje has been chosen by the consideration that Karang Paranje is a potential area to become a tourist destination in coastal and marine for tourists to enjoy nature. Nevertheless, the potencies could not give optimum benefit to people. In aiming the goal, a proper administration is needed, such like building tourism awareness among people about coastal tourism potencies, and the needs of people empowering, building independence that will affect in increasing people’s income. These potencies could be explored as an agenda by Government of Garut Regency to follow up, not to stop at study identifying tourism potencies, but to implement that to be saleable tourism product. The method conducted in this study was exploration qualitative whilst the data gathering used some techniques: observation, questionnaire and in-depth interview, followed by the socialization of the design of tourism development potencies. This study involved some parties such as Government, private sectors (industry), associations, people, and fishermen, so tourism as the leading sector could give a multiplier effect in the community.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the internal communication of front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung. Communication is the important key in directing and coordinating of establishment. Poor communication of front office department will be impact to customer satisfaction and will decrease the revenue of the hotel. Problems arised in this research: 1) 1. How is the downward communication of front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung?; 2) How is upward communication of front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung?; and 3) How is horizontal communication of front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung. The purpose of this research is to find out the downward communication, upward communication and horizontal communication of front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung. The method used is a quantitative method. Observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires are used as a technique data collection. While the data analysis technique uses a Likert scale. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that vertical communication (upward communication and downward communication) and horizontal communication performed by front office department at Kytos Hotel Bandung are still in the less category.

Abstract

This study focused on the tourism impact on the culture of Kebonagung tourism village, Imogiri, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The method used in this study was qualitative descriptive and using the case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interview and literature review. Cultural component data were presented descriptively, and they explained about how tourism brought effects to them. The transformational condition of the culture itself contained many aspects such as; religion, socio-cultural, livelihood, technology growth, language and art. The goal of this study was to find tourism impacts on Kebonagung Society. In religion, the impact towards the society was they could positively accept the diversity of religion. However, the local religion system also became the biggest challenge to develop tourism. Tourism also gave a positive impact to the society organizational system. It made the society more open minded. When tourism brought foreign culture inside, it also threated the local society organizational system. Other impact was the livelihood of the local society can be widely known, but it also potentially faded the originality of the culture itself by the tourist. In the language aspect, tourism helped Javanese Language and Javanese Script to be widely used especially in tourism activity. From the negative side, local language also had to compete with foreign language. The effect of tourism development in the field of art was that it brought art closer to society, but foreign art and culture can also rub the local art and culture.

Abstract

Strategi pemasaran electronic word of mouth diyakini menjadi faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi minat berkunjung seseorang. Sama halnya dengan citra destinasi yang juga merupakan faktor penentu calon wisatawan mengunjungi suatu destinasi wisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh electronic word of mouth (ewom) dan citra destinasi terhadap minat berkunjung di Kiara Artha Park. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 200 responden dengan teknik convenience sampling pada pengunjung di Kiara Artha Park. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data deskriptif dan verifikatif dengan teknik Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dan Partial Least Square (PLS). Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan program SmartPLS versi 3.0. Hasil pada penelitian ini yaitu: 1) electronic word of mouth, citra destinasi dan minat berkunjung dinilai baik; 2) electronic word of mouth berpengaruh signifikan terhadap minat berkunjung; 3) citra destinasi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap minat berkunjung; dan 4) electronic word of mouth berpengaruh signifikan terhadap citra destinasi.

Abstract

The study aims to map out research for research-based on tourism at the Indonesian university of education. The bibliometric and co-word analysis is used to reveal characteristics and status on the research for tourism in UPI. Script data uploaded on repository.upi. edu during period 2012-2019. The title descriptor, year, study programs, writers, and key words from the authors are collected and analyzed and thus indicate that the most widely worded key words of MRL is ‘touris satisfaction’, at MPP is ‘visiting decisions’ and at MIK is ‘product innovation’. For the most concepts and theories of tourism used in MRL are the theories of 4 A (attraction, accesable, amenities, ancillary) and tourism psychology, at MPP are marketing theories promotion of tourism with characteristic tourist interest, while at MIK are the business economy and tourism accounting practice. In general the focus and inclination of research in the three major has been consistently fluid over the past eight years following Indonesia's actual tourism conditions and the concept of tourism theory used is relatively widespread, showing development efforts from each study program so that some of the hot theories are properly developed and tend to mature, some of the theories have great potential for further development, And many other theories are marginal and immature

Abstract

AbstractThis case study evaluates the effectiveness of an outdoor learning program in enhancing high school students' understanding of sustainable tourism at Daarut Tauhiid Eco Pesantren in Bandung, Indonesia. The qualitative research utilized observations, interviews, and documentation to assess the outdoor learning program which involved field trips to tourism destinations and interactive activities. The results indicate the outdoor learning program was effective in increasing students' comprehension of sustainable tourism principles, raising environmental awareness, and promoting active participation in sustainable tourism activities. Students developed deeper understandings of tourism impacts on the environment, culture and local economies. They exhibited more environmentally-friendly behaviors and initiative in community tourism projects after completing the program. While the program faced challenges like limited time and resources, the school implemented strategies such as curriculum integration, stakeholder partnerships, and continuous evaluation to overcome these obstacles. The outdoor, experiential learning approach showed potential for developing the knowledge, skills and values needed for a more sustainable tourism industry workforce. Implications include the need for wider adoption of outdoor learning in sustainable tourism education through school-industry-community collaboration. Further research could explore long-term impacts on graduates' sustainable tourism practices. Overall, this innovative pedagogical model can help shape a new generation committed to responsible tourism development.Keywords:  Sustainable tourism education, outdoor learning, environmental education, experiential learning,

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh dari social media marketing terhadap purchase decision di Kampung Daun Culture Gallery Café. Variabel bebas (X) dalam penelitian ini adalah social media marketing yang terdiri dari beberapa sub-dimensi yaitu entertainment, interaction, trendiness, customization dan word of mouth serta yang menjadi variabel terikat (Y) adalah purchase decision. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei menggunakan systematic random sampling dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 110 terdiri dari konsumen individu yang telah mengikuti akun resmi Kampung Daun Culture Gallery Café di Instagram. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi berganda dengan menggunakan bantuan program IBM SPSS for Windows 26.0. Interaction, entertainment dan trendiness memiliki nilai tertinggi sedangkan customization dan word of mouth memiliki nilai terendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara bersama- sama variabel social media marketing memberi pengaruh signifikan terhadap purchase decision di Kampung Daun Culture Gallery Café. Namun secara terpisah hanya tiga sub-dimensi dari variabel social media marketing yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap purchase decision.

Abstract

AbstrakArtikel ini membahas upaya peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia pariwisata dalam menghadapi perkembangan jaman dan persaingan global melalui sertifikasi kompetensi profesi. Sertifikasi profesi memberikan kesetaraan kemampuan bagi pekerja pariwisata yang memiliki beragam level pendidikan. seseorang pekerja pariwisata yang mempunyai level pendidikan paling bawah pun dapat mendapat kesetaraan ketika mereka melalui training dan pengalaman kerja. Kajian literatur dilakukan untuk memahami proses sertifkasi dan permasalahan yang dihadapi pada proses implementasi sertifikasi profesi tersebut. Melalui proses kajian literatur ditemukan berbagai proses implementasi sertifikasi profesi mulai dari proses Sertifikasi Profesi di Bidang Pariwisata, Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia (SKKNI), Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI), hingga MRA Pariwisata. Artikel ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam mengenai bagaimana proses implementasi sertifikasi kompetensi profesi pekerja dibidang pariwisata.  AbstractThis article discusses efforts to increase the capacity of tourism human resources in facing the development of the times and global competition through professional competency certification. Professional certification provides equality of ability for tourism workers who have various levels of education. A tourism worker who has the lowest level of education can also get equality when they go through training and work experience. A literature review was conducted to understand the certification process and the problems faced in the process of implementing the professional certification. Through the literature review process, various processes for the implementation of professional certification were found, ranging from the Professional Certification process in the Tourism Sector, the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), to the Tourism MRA. This article provides an in-depth understanding of how the process of implementing professional competency certification for workers in the tourism sector is carried out.
