Abstract

Popular Scientific Book is one of learning resources that can be developed in teaching Ethnobotany. Ethnobotany is related to the use of plants by the local community. Information on ethnobotanical studies in the form of teaching materials is still limited. The use of regional potential-based teaching materials can be a source of learning and preservation of living things. It is necessary to develop teaching materials based on local potential. Prior to use, the BIP needs to be validated to identify deficiencies. This study aims to describe the validity of the popular scientific book Ethnobotani Artocarpus altilis in Sabuhur Village, Jorong District. BIP products were evaluated by Tessmer's formative test. Formative evaluation is limited to self-evaluation and expert testing. The results of the validation of the BIP show that the category is very valid on the contextual aspect, content completeness, appearance, and language, as well as according to the rules for its preparation.

Abstract

Botanical printing is a method of printing motifs from plant parts such as leaves, flowers, and bark onto natural fiber media, animal skin, ceramics, and wood. Botanical printing products generally use mordants (metals and minerals) and natural dyes from species of seed plants. Research on pteridophytes in Tahura KGPAA Mangkunagoro I has been conducted in 2019, but is still limited to identification and has not been utilized for art crafts. The purpose of this study is to create textile products with pteridophyte leaf motifs from the Tahura KGPAA Mangkunagoro I area. The type of research conducted is qualitative descriptive research. Sampling was done using purposive sampling techniques. The creation of botanical printing art crafts uses textile materials from plants such as rayon and canvas. The textile raw materials are processed using steaming techniques. The research results show that 20 species of pteridophytes from 9 different families (Polypodiaceae, Thelypteridaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Nephrolepidaceae, Dryopteridaceae, Pteridaceae, Hymenophyllaceae, Asplenidaceae, Athyriaceae) can be used as a source of natural motifs in the creation of botanical printing art crafts.

Abstract

Rosemary is one of the aromatic herb plants that is known to challenges in its seed production because the propagation of rosemary still relies on seed germination with low germination rates. To overcome this. This research aims to determine the growth response of rosemary stem cuttings to the application of Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) in the form of coconut water, variations in growing media, and their interaction. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design with the variation of growing media and different concentrations of coconut water PGR solution. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, with a total of 15 treatment combinations repeated 3 times. The observed parameters included root length, number of roots, and number of shoots, with observations made every two weeks. The results showed that the combination of coconut water concentration and variation in growing media significantly interacted with the growth parameters, namely root length and number of roots. Additionally, individual factors such as the mixed soil and rice husk charcoal growing medium and 75% coconut water concentration separately had a significant effect on the number of sprouts at 42 and 56 days after planting.

Abstract

Candida albicans is a normal microbiota in humans. However, the imbalance and increasing number of C. albicans can cause infections in the vagina, mouth, esophagus, and nails. Sap-3 plays role in the infections especially in the adhesion process, and can used as a therapeutic target for C.albicans. Here an attempt has been made to analyze the potential of the active compounds from noni (Morinda citrifolia) as an antifungal by molecular docking towards Sap-3 protein. Drug-likeness characteristics were analyzed based on the Lipinski Rule of Five. Validation of molecular docking of Sap-3 protein-native ligand was conducted followed by molecular docking of the Sap3 protein-test based on the Lamarckian Genetics Algorithm. The highest binding energy is Beta-sitosterol (-8.77 kcal/mol), followed by Alizarin (-6.47 kcal/mol), Morindone (-6.51 kcal/mol), Quercetin (-5.76 kcal/mol), Pepstatin A (-5.55 kcal/mol), Scopoletin (-5.26 kcal/mol), Kaempferol (-5.13 kcal/mol). Bioactive compounds from noni (Morinda citrifolia) can be an appropriate choice as antifungal and for further experiments through in vitro and in vivo tests.

Abstract

The pitcher plant (Nepenthes spp.) has the highest species diversity in Sunda Shelf. This study aims to analyze the phylogenetic profile of Nepenthes spp. in Sunda Shelf based on Nep2 and trnK gene sequences. This research was conducted by in silico, downloaded from the Genbank website. The sequences consisted of 21 species for the Nep2 gene sequence and 29 species for the trnK gene sequence. The Nepenthes species used in this study were Nepenthes of Sunda Shelf including Sumatera and Kalimantan as in group also Nepenthes of Sulawesi and Papua as out group. The downloaded sequences were then analyzed for their genetic distance using p-distance method. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using Maximum Likelihood analysis on MEGAX software. The results of the phylogenetic tree analysis based on Nep2 gene sequences showed that there were 2 main clades, clade I which consisted of 19 Nepenthes species of Kalimantan, Sumatera, and Sulawesi and clade II which consisted of two species, namely N. Tobaica (Sumatera) and N. Papuana (Papua). The phylogenetic tree analysis based on the trnK gene showed that there were 2 main clades, clade I consisting of 26 Nepenthes species of Kalimantan, Sumatera, Sulawesi, and Papua and clade II consisting of N. hamata (Sulawesi), N. muluensis and N. murudensis (Kalimantan). A Total of 26 species in clade I have a genetic distance between 0.05%-2.17%, while the 3 species in clade II have a genetic distance between 8.27%-10.02%. Differences in genetic distance and the formation of clades in the phylogenetic tree are predicted to be due to the geological history of the formation of islands originating from the Sunda Shelf and Sahul Shelf.
