Abstract

Feed additive has been used widely to improve productivity performance by improving feed digestibility and maintaining animal’s health. This study evaluates two types of feed additives in the form of probiotics and turmeric and their combination on growth performance and economic analysis in the etawa crossbreed goat. This study was carried out in the Matahari farmer group, Candi Kuning Village, Tabanan District, Bali Province, from June to Oc- tober 2020. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments, and each treatment used four male etawa crossbreed goats with an average initial weight of 15 kg. The treatments tested were P0: control (forage+0,5 kg/head/day), P1: P0+probiotic-turmeric 5 ml/head/day, P2: P0+probiotic-turmeric 10ml/head/day, P3: P0+probiotic-turmeric 15 ml/head/day. Parameters observed were daily weight gain, feed intake, dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility, feed conversion ratio, and economic analysis. Observation data were anal- yzed using analysis of variance and a further test of orthogonal polynomials. To determine the feasibility level of farming, it is carried out by analyzing the Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C ratio). The probiotic and turmeric combination to 15 ml/head/day did not affect the dry matter and organic matter intake. The addition of probiotic turmeric im- proves the dry matter, and organic matter digestibility also reduces the feed conversion ratio. The use of 15 ml of probiotic-turmeric showed the greatest body weight gain and an R/C value of 1.10.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of adding Tenebrio molitor to the growth of quail (Coturnix-coturnix ja- ponica). The research approach is quantitative. This type of experimental research with a a completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of 4 treatments and 5 repetitions. The treatments used were P0 (control), P1 (larvae eating vegetable waste), P2 (larvae eating fish waste), P3 (larvae eating vegetable + fish waste). The parameters in this stu- dy were quail consumption, quail growth, and quail egg weight. The data were analyzed using the Two-way ANOVA test and Duncan’s Advanced Real Distance test at a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that the growth of quail did not interact between the feeding factor of Tenebrio molitor larvae that ate organic waste and the quail age factor, namely Fcount (1.47) < Ftable (1.88). From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the most optimal feed is P3 (larvae eat vegetable + fish waste) seen from the growth of quail, quail consumption, and quail egg weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to characterize the stock of broiler meat sourced from the cage maintenance sys- tem, especially related to mass quality at room temperature. The quality indicators observed included texture and organoleptic profiles of broiler chicken meat. The research methodology used a completely randomized design with 4 shelf-life treatments (S), namely S1 (1 hour); S2(3hours); S3 (5 hours) and S4 (7 hours). The results showed that the characteristics of broiler meat sourced from the rearing system in the cage gave a significantly different profile of meat texture, especially on the level of meat hardness during different storage times. However, the springeness, cohesiveness and gumminess values were not affected by the treatment. L* decreased with the shelf life of the value, but at 7 hours of storage there was an increase in the value of L*. While the value of a* at 7 hours of storage showed the highest value achieved from the increase in meat color as a result of dehydration on the surface of the meat. While the value of b* indicates an increase in meat color during storage at room temperature. Organoleptic aspects such as color, texture, taste, and total acceptance did not change during storage, except for the aroma aspect. The conclusion of the research is that the broiler chicken products that are carried out come from a closed house mainte- nance system if storage at room temperature does not change the profile texture, such as springeness, cohesiveness and gumminess, except for the hardness value. Overall, the organoleptic value was responded the same by consu- mers, except for the aroma at 7 hours of storage (S4).
