Abstract

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the tensile properties of lignocellulosic composites; which is specifically compare the tensile properties of composites derived from natural fibers (jute, sisal and hemp) to a medium density fiber (MDF). The study was conducted experimentally by performing tensile tests according to BS EN ISO 527-2 using a MTS machine. Five specimens were prepared for each composite laminate. The results show that the tensile properties of lignocellulosic composites derived from natural fibers are superior to medium density fiber. The tensile strength of medium density fiber is 17.1 MPa; while sisal, jute and hemp fiber composite has the value of 40.25 MPa, 37.25 MPa and 31.37 MPa, respectively. Further, medium density fiber has the elastic modulus of 2603 MPa; while jute, sisal and hemp fiber composite has the values of 4592 MPa, 3643 MPa and 3048 MPa, respectively. Natural fiber composites also possess higher Poisson’s ratio which is greater than 0.36, while medium density fiber has the value of 0.25. Abstract

Provision of water supply in Buleleng regency handled by local water supply enterprice (PDAM) systems and swakelola systems which is done by the society in Facility Manager Unit/Facility Manager Community (UPS/KPS). Of the total 148 villages in Buleleng regency, only 68 villages have got PDAM systems, while 80 villages through a swakelola system by society. Based on the observations of the year 2010-2011 performance UPS/KPS tends to decrease. Performance degradation UPS/KPS will impact the disruption of the function of providing water to rural communities. The objective of this research is to knowing the factors that influenced the performance of Facility Manager Unit/Facility Manager Community (UPS/KPS) in supplying a rural water supply. This research used purposive  sampling technique in which the subject of this research was taken from 67 of 80 village as a rural clean water manager. The respondent consist of ; one respondent from the apparatur in the village as a builder of SPAM (Drinking Water Supply System) in the village. Two respondents from the manager of UPS/KPS and there respondents from the society or custumers. The variable data is based on the measurement performance in public sector that consist of; input aspect, process aspect, output aspect, outcomes aspect and imfact aspect. The data from respondences will manage by using descriptive analysis and also factor analysis. The result of factor analysis showed that there was fives dominant factor that influenced the performance of UPS/KPS ; water spring debit, public willingness to pay, public awareness to pay, quality of service and ease of access to finance.

Abstract

One of the strategies to fulfil the needs of raw water in Tabanan is to plan for utilization of Wellspring of Metaum as a source of raw water. Before deciding to take the spring water source of Metaum as raw water, it was indicated the potential failure of either the pre-construction, the construction and the post-construction for example in the management of groundwater abstraction permits and the determination of trace pipeline network. The risk analysis was conducted on the plan to use the Wellspring of Metaum in Marga village of Tabanan, descriptive and qualitative methods. Data were collected through questionnaires that distributed to 28 respondents based on purposive sampling method. The result showed that there were 44 risks in the utilization plan of Wellspring of Metaum. These included 14 unacceptable risks, 24 undesirable risks and 6 acceptable risks. This indicated that the utilization of Wellspring of Metaum has a high level of risks, especially for the unacceptable categories and the undesirable risk categories. The mitigation actions that should be performed were dissemination and lobbying to the religious leaders / people directly affected as well as a limitation of protection for the sacred area. While mitigation action for the undesirable risks can be conducted through dissemination and personal approach through district level officials, village or neighborhood small units directly affected. The risk ownerships of the unacceptable risks were the Local Government / Central Office / Central River Region of Bali-Penida, Consultant / Contractor and the people. For the risk taker of the undesirable risk category are the Local Government / Central Office / Central River Region Bali-Penida, Consultant / Contractor and the people. Abstract

Abstract: Research on the seismic response of in-filled frame structure has been done with in-filled frame model as full and partial shell elements. The wall is considered active until the maximum load on the full shell models, while the partial shell model using the gradual load with the strength of the wall is considered inactive if the stress of the wall exceeded the wall strength The 4 storey hotel building with full wall in x-direction and wall with opening in y-direction were modeled in SAP 2000 as 3D infilled-frame using full and partial shell element. In Mxy models, both wall were included in the model, while in My models, only the wall in y-direction included. Therefore, 4 models were obtained, there are full shell model MxyShPn and MyShPn and partial shell model MyShPar and MyShPar. In addition, 2 diagonal strut models MxyS and MyS  and an open frame model MOF were made as comparison. Prior to model 3D structure, validation models were created using test result condited by other as reference. For that purphose 5 2D models were created there are open frame model MOF, single strut model MST, multiple strut model MSG, full shell model MShPn and  partial shell model MShPar. From validation models, it is apparent that the MxyShPar model mimic the behavior of tested structure better than the other models. From the 3D models analysis result show that the displacement in x-direction of MxyShPn, MxyShPar, MxyS were 89%, 85%, 84% smaller than those of MOF, respectively inclusion of wall in the models, also reduce the internal forces and reduse the natural period of the sctructure.

Abstract

Benoa-Bandara-Nusa Dua toll road project is the first toll road project in Bali. This highway connects region Nusa Dua with Benoa Harbour area. Construction of toll roads-Benoa-Bandara-Nusa Dua is claimed as the fastest highway development in Indonesia as completed within 14 months. With time so short that the implementation of development it is necessary to research on the risks that arise in the implementation phase of the construction of the toll road The existence of the risks that arise in the implementation of toll road construction will directly impact the cost and development time. It is necessary in order to study the risks that might occur notably members of the dominant risk category can be used as a basis for decision making by the parties concerned to overcome the negative consequences that occur in the construction of toll roads. The research was conducted by means of interviews with various parties and has expert competence in the implementation of toll road construction to determine how the possibility (likelihood) against a variety of risks and to determine how much influences (Consequences) risk. The number of risks identified in this study was as many as 54 risks. The distribution of revenue risk of the project is a total of 18 (33.33%) classified as unacceptable risk, 25 (46.29%) classified as undesirable risk, 9 (16.67%) classified as acceptable risk, 2 (3.7%) classified as negligible risk. Handling risk (risk mitigation) is only performed on the dominant risks are risks that are categorized as unacceptable and undesirable. Risk mitigation conducted on a total of 18 risk unacceptable risk. 25 risk mitigation undesirable risk. Based on the results of this mitigation is then performed risk management ownership (ownership of risk) to the parties involved in the implementation of toll road construction project.

Abstract

RISK MANAGEMENT DURING IMPLEMENTATION OF HOTEL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AT SARBAGITA AREA ABSTRACT Construction project is an unique project and constrained by cost, quality and time. During construction project implementation, problems are frequently occur that affect toward cost, quality and time. Therefore according to such matter, it is considerably necessary to conduct research concerning risk management. Risk management include risk identification, risk analysis, risk acceptance distribution, risk mitigation and risk ownership. This research was conducted through interview with expert parties in hotel construction project implementation at Sarbagita (Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan) region. This research aimed to identify and determine risk acceptance level, determine dominant risk, conduct mitigation action and risk ownership allocation. Total risks identified in this research were 37 risks that consist of 19 risks according to literature and 18 new finding risks. Dominant risk in this research were 28 risks, classified into 19 undesirable risks and 9 unacceptable risks. Both risks frequently occur in upper structure work. The most frequent risk sources occur in undesirable and unacceptable risks were technical risk. Technical risk in unacceptable risk were difference between picture and actual field, inaccurate scheduling, picture problems from planner and material specification discontinuation. Technical risk in undesirable risk were mainly tools mobilization delay, working hours limitation, quality and specification inconsistency and material discontinuation. Mitigation action mostly performed in technical risk were such as communication escalation between involved parties and organization structure improvement and project administration. Largest risk ownership allocation were in contractor side. These were due to contractor as the most responsible party in construction project implementation.

Abstract

Abstract: Starting in 2012 the procurement of government goods/services in Buleleng done electronically (E -Procurement) to the procedure E -Tendering. In the implementation of participation and the bid price tends to decrease the auction participants both during the auction at the current conventional and electronic auctions. This study aims to determine the factors that influence participation and value of the electronic auction participants offer construction services in Buleleng, and what factors influence most dominant. The sample used in this study as many as 53 companies contracting in Buleleng that the sample collection was done by using a non probability sampling with purposive sampling and data collection using questionnaires and interviews. Data was analyzed using factor analysis. The factor analysis forms 11 new factors that influence the participation of bidders with cumulative variance 79,198%, which is made up of 42 variables. The most dominant factors, indicated by eigenvalues of 20.738 and variance of 42.323% is formed by 11 variables, namely, project location, great value for the project, environmental security project, started the project approaching the end of the year, without face-to-face opportunities to minimize collusion, corruption and nepotism, term timing of the access road to the project site, implementation of the rainy season, the terms of ISO certificate, the terms of financial support of banks and variable auctioneer. While the analysis of the factors affecting the bid price auction participants generate 10 new factors with cumulative variance 78,925%, which is made up of 43 variables. The most dominant factors indicated by eigenvalues of 22.756 and  variance of 47.409% is formed by nine variables, namely, fluctuations in material prices, the return on investment, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates (dollars), the access road to the project site, the opportunity to gain a larger project, the risks of investing, the rate of inflation, more cost-effective without document printing costs and transportation costs and the ability to offer estimates.

Abstract

ANALYSIS OF FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE MARKETING OF LIGHT STEEL ROOF TRUSS IN DENPASARABSTRACTAs the need for residence in Denpasar continues to increase, the demand for building materials, especially lightweight steel roof truss also increases. This leads to a tight competition among lightweight steel sellers. This study aimed at investigating factors that influence lightweight steel roof truss marketing in Denpasar and strategies that can be done by business people in facing such competition. This research used Factor Analysis and SWOT Analysis as a research approach. Questionnaires and interviews are used to assist the method of data colection. In Factor Analysis, selected respondents were the parties who understood the marketing strategy of lightweight steel roof truss in Denpasar. The SWOT Analysis was done on Company X, which sold lightweight steel roof truss in Denpasar. The respondents of the SWOT Analysis were two persons from internal company. Based on the results of Factor Analysis, three main factors was formed, namely product popularity, service quality and product attractiveness. Meanwhile, through SWOT Analysis, it was found that the company position is in quadrant I, so it supported the SO (Strength-Opportunity) strategy. This strategy maximized strength and utilized opportunities. It involved building new branches, increasing the quantity and variety of products, maintaining service and product quality, providing products that always follow the development of consumer tastes, efficiency of the company's operational costs, increasing the quantity of purchases of products to be traded and buying goods directly from the producers.

Abstract

In reality, the construction of local roads for housing in Badung Regency has faced barriers, which causes delay to the projects. Therefore, the projects cannot run based on the schedule. Although the constructions has been done on different road and by different contractors, the delay is still repeatedly occurred in every stage of the construction, started from the tender, constructions and post constructions stage. This study purposed to identify factors and the main factors that influence the delay of the construction of local roads for housing area. The identification was determined based on three stages of constructions. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires, involved 54 respondents those are participated in the construction of local roads for housing area in Badung Regency in 2012 and 2013.  Data analysis covered factor analysis. The result shows that there are six factors that influence delay of the construction of local roads for housing in Badung Regency. This covers: one factor at the tender stage which is the unpreparedness of the contractor’s employees; four factors at the constructions stage, which are material and time schedule, alteration and controlling, lack of labour and equipment, and financial and weather; and one factor at the post construction stage, which is the penalty for the contractors. Among these six, the main factors that cause delays are: the unpreparedness of the contractor’s employees for submitting documents to the electronic procurement (at the tender stage); lack of paving block supply (at the construction stage); and the unclear penalty for the contractors (at the post construction stage).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas layanan Jalan Tol Bali Mandara dalam memenuhi kepuasan pengguna. Terdapat 19 atribut layanan Jalan Tol Bali Mandara yang diukur untuk melihat tingkat kepuasan pengguna. Kesembilan belas atribut tersebut mewakili lima dimensi servqual yakni tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, dan emphaty. Ada dua metode yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat kepuasan pengguna yakni Indeks Kepuasan Pengguna (CSI) dan Important Perfomance Analysis (IPA). Berdasarkan hasil analisa CSI diperoleh nilai sebesar 34,29% untuk kendaraan golongan VI serta 32,46% untuk kendaraan golongan I,II,III,IV dan V. Nilai CSI untuk semua golongan kendaraan tersebut lebih kecil dari 50%. Hal ini menunjukan tingkat kepuasan responden terhadap layanan Jalan Tol Bali Mandara secara menyeluruh masih rendah. Hasil yang diperoleh dari diagram IPA menunjukkan layanan Jalan Tol Bali Mandara belum efektif dalam memenuhi kepuasan penggunanya. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan tingginya sebaran frekuensi (jumlah) atribut yang terletak pada kuadran I. Adapun atribut – atribut tersebut mencakup kondisi lampu penerangan jalan tol, kualitas permukaan jalan tol, geometri (tikungan, tanjakan dan turunan) jalan tol, kelengkapan fasilitas jalan tol untuk keselamatan, jumlah gardu tol, arus lalu lintas yang lancar saat masuk dan keluar jalan tol (sepanjang jalan tol), kecepatan respon atas penggilan darurat dan layanan derek resmi selalu dapat diandalkan.
