Abstract

Abstract: This research delves into the academic supervision in Ketungau Hulu sub-district, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. The study employed descriptive methodology, encompassing interviews and questionnaires. Data was gathered from 3 out of 10 junior high schools situated in proximity to the border. 3 principals and 3 teachers were interviewed, with 25 teachers participating in the survey. Based on data analysis, 90% completion rate for resources, 77.33% for resources, below 90% for teacher guides and schedules. Principals effectively supervised academics (above 90% completion rate) and created supervision schedules (88% completion rate). Room for improvement in academic supervision tools, currently at 89.33% completion rate. Based on interviews, academic supervision varies based on teachers' readiness. Educators reduce apprehension by being familiar with supervision. Teachers adapt to technological constraints by using basic media. Teachers and principals collaborate post-supervision to address issues. Some teachers participate in MGMP activities, while financial and geographical constraints limit others. Principals' supervision planning needs enhancements for consistent oversight. Overcoming obstacles like technological limitations is crucial. Post-supervision evaluations and follow-up procedures are effectively executed. More effort is needed to ensure all teachers have training opportunities to enhance their competencies. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to formulate a principal's leadership strategy in the digital era with a focus on developing digital literacy, transforming school culture, and a collaborative approach. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach with data collection methods through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with data validity guaranteed through triangulation. The results of the study indicate that digital literacy is a key competency that supports innovation, improves 21st century skills, and encourages institutional achievements such as the National Active Literacy School Champion 1 award. Principals play a role as agents of digital transformation through superior programs such as the Madrasah Literacy Movement (GELEM), the Joint Outdoor Literacy Movement (GLOBE), and the School Writing Book Movement (GSMB). Collaborative strategies involving teachers, students, and parents have been shown to accelerate technology adoption and create a harmonious work culture. However, challenges in the form of digital divides and infrastructure limitations need to be addressed through ongoing training and infrastructure strengthening. This study emphasizes the importance of visionary leadership, digital literacy, and collaboration to create a technology-based education ecosystem that is relevant in the digital era. Abstract

Abstract: The era of globalisation has changed various aspects of human life, including education, which is the main foundation of human resource development in Indonesia. In an effort to improve and equalise education, the government has designed education policies, as stipulated in the 1945 Constitution and Government Regulation No 47/2008 on the 12-year compulsory education programme. The implementation of this policy in Pasuruan City since 2012 involves the management of funds from the government through the BOS programme, BPOPP, and parent participation funds, which are contained in various regulations. However, the management of these funds is often a polemic in the community, especially regarding school financial transparency. This study aims to analyse the effect of financial transparency on the level of parental trust. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The study found that financial transparency significantly contributes to the level of parental trust and school productivity. While parental participation is important, the research shows that it does not always have a significant effect on the accountability and effectiveness of fund management. The findings emphasise the need for improvements in transparency and management of education funds to increase stakeholder trust and support sustainable development. Recommendations for improving school fund management are expected to contribute positively to the quality of education. Keywords: parents' level of trust; school financial transparency

Abstract

Abstract: Due to emerging socio-political conditions, economic competition, and global trends, higher education in Southern Africa has undergone significant changes recently. Nonetheless, several policy concerns continue to impede the expansion and advancement of higher education establishments in Southern Africa. In light of this, this paper aimed to comprehend the policy concerns plaguing Southern African higher education. In this sense, a qualitative approach is the foundation for data generation, analysis, and discussion. This enables it to search for participants' experiences and opinions in the higher education reform process. This encompasses policy analysis to interrogate 112 peer reviewed papers selected from the Scopus, DOAJ, DHTE, Scielo SA, and WoS and written. Hence, content analysis is required to identify themes and trends in this paper. This makes it possible to seek out the experience and views of the stakeholders within the reform process in the higher education. This entails policy analysis to examine the government and institutional policies, international publications and reports. The necessity of this paper is to utilise content analysis to establish themes and trends in higher education policy and reforms in Southern Africa. Although the interrogation of these questions in the case of Southern African nations like South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, etc., the paper peaks top policy concerns in higher education, opening doors and overcoming obstacles of reform. From the above conclusion, a recommendation is made on sharpening the policy agenda in Southern Africa’s higher education. Keywords: Handling policy, higher education, rethinking, Southern Africa

Abstract

Abstract: Student performance and achievement have always been at the centre of school reform efforts around the world. This led to Instructional Leadership being regarded as being key for improving teaching and learning processes. Although there is an inextricable connection between instruction and learning, it does not directly address subject-specific Instructional Leadership. Hence, this study investigated teachers' perspectives on Instructional Leadership for the subject of Life Sciences. By applying a qualitative case study approach, we interviewed high school principals, departmental heads, and teachers in two South African schools from the Gert Sibande District in the Mpumalanga Province. Thematic analysis was employed to analyse the collected data. Findings revealed differences in the conception and understanding of Instructional Leadership among teachers, departmental heads, and principals regarding the Life Sciences. Teachers only understood Instructional Leadership based on their job-descriptions. We recommend that based on the findings of this study, it is important that the knowledge of teachers, departmental heads and principals be extensively upgraded on subject-specific Instructional Leadership. Abstract

Abstract: Academic supervision represents a critical leadership function for enhancing teaching quality and student learning outcomes. This study employs grounded theory methodology to investigate academic supervision practices in three Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) schools in Bireuen Regency, Aceh. Through in-depth semi-structured interviews with three school principals and data analysis using ATLAS.ti version 24 with a structured Q&A framework (12 identical questions × 3 informants = 36 unique codes), this research identifies three distinct supervision models along a developmental continuum: (1) administrative mentoring—focused on procedural compliance with minimal impact on teacher development; (2) professional mentoring—demonstrating intermediate mentoring approach with moderate effectiveness; and (3) continuous mentoring—embodying systematic development mechanisms with substantial impact on learning quality. Findings reveal significant gaps between national policy frameworks and school-level practice, alongside structural, human, and material barriers limiting coaching-based supervision implementation. This research proposes a transformative supervision model integrating continuous coaching, reflective practice, collaborative problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making. Contributions include understanding contextual barriers to academic supervision effectiveness in Indonesian Islamic education institutions and practical recommendations for instructional leadership development programs feasible within resource-constrained contexts. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to comprehensively describe the role of academic supervision in improving teacher professionalism at Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri (SMKN) in Mesuji District, Lampung Province. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with survey methods to measure the level of influence between the two variables. The population consisted of 173 teachers from various SMKNs in the district, and a sample of 120 teachers was determined using the Taro Yamane formula with proportional random sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that assessed indicators of academic supervision—such as planning, implementation, follow-up, and feedback—and aspects of teacher professionalism, including pedagogical competence, discipline, innovation, and responsibility. The collected data were analyzed using prerequisite tests and hypothesis testing through regression analysis. The results reveal that academic supervision has a positive and significant effect on improving teacher professionalism. Effective supervision encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching practices, develop creative learning strategies, and maintain continuous professional growth. Therefore, consistent and constructive academic supervision can be considered a key managerial function for enhancing teacher performance, instructional quality, and ultimately, the overall effectiveness of vocational education in Mesuji District, Lampung. Abstract

Abstract: This qualitative phenomenological study investigates transformational leadership practices in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) through the lens of teachers' lived experiences. The research was conducted at Pesantren X with six experienced teachers serving as primary participants through purposive sampling. Data were collected via in-depth semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Braun and Clarke's six-phase thematic analysis with ATLAS.ti version 24 software. The study identifies four major themes: (1) Presence as Pedagogy, whereby leaders cultivate spiritual transformation through active participation in daily religious rituals and consistent physical supervision; (2) Accessible Authority, demonstrating how leaders balance traditional Islamic authority with democratic accessibility mechanisms; (3) Value Transmission Through Practical Responsibility, showing how students develop character virtues (amanah, integrity, and trustworthiness) through authentic management responsibilities; and (4) Restorative-Investigative Conflict Resolution, integrating Islamic justice principles (musyawarah and collective learning) with contemporary restorative practices. Findings reveal that transformational leadership in pesantren operates distinctly from Western organizational models, emphasizing relational presence, moral exemplarity, and communal value-formation. This study provides culturally-grounded empirical evidence enriching transformational leadership theory within Islamic educational contexts, offering actionable insights for pesantren administrators and informing educational policy development in Indonesian secondary education. Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses school strategic management in optimizing inclusive education in public schools, with case studies at SMKN 1 Palasah and SMPN 2 Dawuan, Majalengka Regency. The background of this research is the need for appropriate strategies so that students with special needs receive fair and suitable educational services. The purpose of this study is to identify how schools plan, implement, and evaluate inclusive strategies, and to compare their impact on school culture. This research applied a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that both schools are committed to inclusive education, but differ in readiness and implementation. SMKN 1 Palasah tends to apply simple and situational adjustments, while SMPN 2 Dawuan implements a more systematic process including assessment, situation analysis, strategy formulation, implementation, and monitoring. The impact at SMKN 1 Palasah is limited to improving student independence, while SMPN 2 Dawuan shows broader impacts on academic and social development as well as the creation of a more inclusive school culture. The conclusion emphasizes that well-planned strategies, facilities, teacher competence, and collaboration with parents and stakeholders are key to inclusive education success. Schools are recommended to develop clearer strategies, establish special inclusion teams, provide teacher training, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure effective and sustainable inclusive practices.
