Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of calcium oil administration in commercial rations on the composition of broiler chicken carcasses. This research was carried out for 35 days at the Farm Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Bukit Jimbaran. The design used completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 6 replications. Each plot was filled with 5 7 day-old broiler chickens with homogeneous body weight. The four treatments are chickens fed commercial rations without calcium oil as a control (A), by giving 1% of calcium oil in commercial rations (B), administering 2% of calcium oil in commercial rations (C), and administering 3% of calcium oil in commercial ration (D). The variables observed were carcass weight (g / tail), carcass meat percentage (%), carcass bone percentage (%), and percentage of subcutaneous fat (%). The results showed that carcass weight and bone percentage in chickens that received 1%, 2% and 3% calcium oil were not significantly different (P> 0.05) compared to chickens that did not get calcium oil (control). The percentage of chicken meat treated with calcium oil was significantly higher (P <0.05) compared to control, while the percentage of subcutaneous fat significantly decreased with the addition of calcium oil compared to control. From the results of the study it can be concluded that administration of calcium oil by 1-3% in commercial rations can increase the percentage of meat and reduce the content of subcutaneous fat in broiler chickens. Keywords: calcium oil, broiler meat, subcutaneous fat

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical characteristics, rumen fermentation products and in-vitro digestibility silage of noni leaves (Morinda citrifolia) using different inoculums. This study was conducted at the Research Station of Sesetan and the Laboratory of Nutrition and Animal Feed, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University from June to September 2019. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments namely the silage of noni leaves without inoculum as a control (A), using Effective Microorganism 4 as inoculum combination of microorganism (EM-4) (B), using inoculum Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) (C), using inoculum Bacillus sp. strain BT3CL (D) and using inoculum Bacillus subtilis strain BR2CL (E) and each treatment had three replications. The observed variables were physical characteristics (density, water solubility and water absorption), rumen fermentation products (VFA and N-NH3) and in-vitro digestibility (KcBK and KcBO). Research shows that using various kinds of inoculums (B, C, D and E) increase physical characteristics (density, solubility and water absorption), digestibility (KcBK and KcBO) and rumen fermentation products (VFA and N-NH3) of noni leaves. Using inoculum bacteria (D and E) produced the highest density each 0,42 g/ml and 0,43 g/ml, and treatment D produced the highest water solubility of 33,63%. The inoculum combination of microorganism (B) produced noni leaves silage with highest water absorption, in-vitro digestibility (KcBK and KcBO) and rumen fermentation products (VFA and NNH3) each 205,08%, 71,32%, 72,55%, 126,19 mM and 15,37 mM. Based on these result can conclude that noni leaves silage fermented by inoculum combination of microorganism (EM-4/ treatment B) has highest water absorption, in-vitro digestability and rumen fermentation product. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of betel leaf extract on commercial cuttings of broiler carcass. This research was conducted in Mr. Nuriyasa's, cage in Dusun Pande, Dajan Peken Village, Tabanan Regency which was conducted for four weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and ten replications, each treatment unit using two broilers. The treatments given were drinking water without using betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) as a control (R0), giving 2% betel leaf extract through drinking water (R1) and giving 4% betel leaf extract through drinking water (R2). The variables observed in this study were cut weight, carcass weight, percentage of carcass, percentage of commercial cuttings of carcass (breast, upper thighs, lower thighs, wings and back). The results showed that cut weight, percentage of carcass, and percentage of commercial cuttings of carcass had insignificant differences (P>0.05) between treatments. Carcass weight in the highest R2 treatment was 1,193.00 g and was significantly higher 6.47% to the control treatment (P<0.05) and 2.69% higher than treatment R1, but statistically not significantly different (P> 0.05). Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that giving up to a level of 4% betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) through drinking water in broilers gives the same results to cut weight, carcass percentage, chest, upper thighs, lower thighs, wings, and back. There was an increase in broiler carcass weight in the administration of 4% betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.). Keywords: drinking water, broiler, betel leaf extract, carcass, commercial cuttings of carcas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of the physical quality and total microbes in broiler meat smeared with clove powder with a concentration of 0.75% of the meat weight during storage. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely 5 hours (P1), 10 hours (P2), 15 hours (P3), 20 hours (P4) and 3 replications. The variables observed were total microbes, moisture content, water binding capacity, and pH value. Data analysis used variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the pH value of the meat for 15 hours (4,53) had a significant effect (P <0.05) lower than storage for 5 hours (5,08), 10 hours (4,93), and 20 hours (4,94). The total microbes of the meat for 5 hours (1,2 x 106 cfu/g), 10 hours (4,1 x 108 cfu/g), 15 hours (9,04 x 108 cfu/gr), and 20 hours (5,66 x 107 cfu/g) showed the difference was not significant (P> 0,05). The water-holding capacity and moisture content of the meat showed no significant differences (P> 0,05). The conclusion of this study is that the storage of meat affects the pH value, but does not affect the water holding capacity, moisture content and is unable to inhibit total microbial growth. Key words: clove powder, broiler meat, storage time, physical quality, total microbes

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical quality and digestibility of in vitro silage of rice straw supplemented with gamal and kaliandra leaves. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of four treatments and each treatment was repeated five times, so that there were 20 experimental units. The treatments given were: P0 (90% rice straw + 5% molasses + 5% polar), P1 (60% rice straw + 30% gamal leaf + 5% molasses + 5% polar), P2 (60% rice straw + 15 % gamal leaves + 15% calliandra leaves + 5% molasses + 5% polar) and P3 (60% rice straw + 30% calliandra leaves + 5% molasses + 5% polar). The observed variables were pH, NH3, VFA (Vollatile Faty cid), DMD (Dry Matter Digesribility), OMD (Organic Matter Digestibility), fungus, texture, color, and odor. The resul showed that the concentration of NH3 in the P1 treatment was higher than the P0, P2 and P3 treatments respectively 36.88%, 33.76% and 38.92%. Total pH and VFA values ??did not show significant differences between all treatments. DMD and OMD in P1 treatment were higher than P0, P1 and P2 treatments. It can be concluded that making rice straw silage with the addition of 30% gamal can improve silage quality both in terms of NH3 and organoleptic testing, namely color and texture. DMD and OMD are highest in P1 because gamal contains a degraded source of protein (protein needed by rumen microbes) that is more comparable to calliandra. Keywords: Rice straw silage, physical quality, digestibility
