Abstract

This experimental research is aiming at finding out which media is more appropriate to enhance the students’ ability in writing an English-language qualitative research proposal, Blog or Slide? This is also to find out whether students’ reasoning level influences their writing ability and whether there is any interaction between teaching media and reasoning level. This experimental research was conducted on the students of English Language Education of IAIN Surakarta based on the pre-test post-test control group design. The experimental group consisted of 25 students and control group consisted of 29 students. Two-stage sampling technique, purposive sampling and then cluster sampling, was used to choose the subjects. To analyze the data, the researcher used Two-Way ANOVA technique. The research results show that using Blog media is more effective to enhance the students’ ability in writing an English research proposal compared to using Slide. The students’ reasoning level also influences their writing ability. Furthermore, there is an interaction between teaching media and reasoning level towards students’ ability in writing an English-language research proposal. The students’ with high reasoning level taught by using Blog have higher writing ability compared to those with high reasoning level taught by using Slide. Moreover, the students with low reasoning level taught by using Blog also have higher writing ability compared to those with low reasoning level taught by using Slide.

Abstract

Each regions has a local culture that is the identity of the area. The Malind (Anim Ha) tribe as the original tribe of Merauke has a musical instrument that has a copyright kandara. Kandara was used as a musical accompaniment of dances and songs at traditional ceremonies. Kandara can be used as a learning media for the concept of geometry in elementary schools. This article aimed to describe the instrument of the musical instrument as an ethnomatematics of the Malind-Papua tribe that can be used as a learning medium for geometrical concepts in elementary schools. It was qualitative research using the ethnographic approach. Sampling using a cluster random sampling technique. The results showed that, the first ethnomatematics were found in parts of the kandara such as the handle or hands of the kandara, head, bodyor middle part and the tail of the kandara. Secondly, the musical instrument of kandara can be used as a learning medium to explain the concepts of geometry in elementary school in the form of the concept of angles, flat shapes (triangles, rectangles and circles) and building spaces (incised cones and tubes). Thirdly, ethnomatematics can be a learning material in elementary schools based on local culture, not only can help students understand mathematical concepts well but also maintain and respect the cultures of local communities (Malind tribe as an indigenous of Merauke). Abstract

This article aimed to determine the application of learning-gradual based education through traditional games as a learning medium and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of implementing traditional games. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects consisted of school principals, teachers, and students at MTS Miftahul Huda 2 Palangka Raya. Data collection techniques in this study used interview, observation, and documentation. The concept of education learning-gradual (LEGAL) combines the concept of learning gradually through traditional games as a medium of primary school learning in Miftahul Huda 2 Palangka Raya. In a traditional game, it has cultural worth and national character consists of mutual cooperation, cooperation, hard work, and democracy and can improve other aspects of child advancing, namely motoric, cognitive, emotional, language, social, spiritual, ecological as well as worth and moral aspects. The weakness is teachers struggle to divide the playgroup because students storm and run. It is hoped that teachers can implement traditional games as a learning medium, so that a nation's generation that loves local wisdom, culture, and morality is a relationship. Abstract

Environmental learning during COVID-19 experienced a change to e-learning. The use of learning models must be compatible; one model that can be chosen was the ILMIZI model. In addition to learning the concept of COVID-19, students must also be able to implement it in the form of Pro-Environmental Behavior (PEB) COVID- 19. The purpose of this study was to analyze descriptively about PEB-COVID-19 and also analyze the potential of ILMIZI to be applied in e-learning. The research conducted using a descriptive method. The sample was 148 Junior High School students located in Bekasi City and Bandung city. The data was collected online using Google form. The results showed that the PEB-COVID-19 student score was already in the very high category. While the results of the analysis show that the ILMIZI model allows it to be used in e-learning. This study concluded that the score of PEB-COVID-19 students was still in the very low category and the use of the ILMIZI model was one form of learning innovation. Abstract

This research was motivated by moral and social crises that occur in Indonesian society, especially in West Java. It was predicted that the society is not ready to face this era if they analyse moral cases occur in West Java. Most people who adhere to this religion of Islam, have not been able to fully realize the Islamic values​ in daily life. Ideally, education as a mediator in dealing with these cases presents a solution. Therefore, this article was to provide a basic inspiration regarding the innovation of the Islamic education curriculum based on the values ​​of Sundanese cultural characters. This research uses library research’s method by using inductive-deductive analysis as well as a comparison of literature and content analysis techniques. The result showed that the presence of an Islamic education curriculum based on cultural Sundanese character values ​​could emerge a generation that upholds culture and Islam. Abstract

The article aimed to explain in detail the perspectives of elementary school teachers about online learning in a COVID-19 pandemic condition. This study used a quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were 45 teachers in Banten and West Java. The results of this study indicated that teachers understand the context of online learning, but in implementation there are various problems found, including 1) availability of facilities, 2) network and internet usage, 3) planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, and 4) collaboration with parents. Online learning help teachers in the COVID-19 pandemic period, but felt to be ineffective, even 80% of teachers feel dissatisfied thorough online learning. This research was expected to be an evaluation material for various parties including education policy makers in conducting online learning, besides this research can also facilitate other researchers to develop research on online learning, especially in elementary schools. Abstract

In South Asia, numerous slum children were deprived of education upon several socio-economic grounds, and many children still dropout of non-formal schools despite receiving free non-formal education. This study aims to explore the reasons for dropping out of non-formal schools and the socio-demographic situation of slum children in Dhaka City. Fifty non-formal dropout slum children were selected conveniently as participants employing a mixed research design. A semi-structured schedule of questionnaire and interview was used as instruments for collecting data. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected simultaneously to explore the slum children's dropout situation. Twelve reasons of their dropout have been reported. In addition to explaining the reasons for their dropping out, two frameworks were presented in detail. Most slum non-formal students dropped out of their schools for the pulling out factors and reasons related to household. Recommendations for reducing slum children's school dropout and persuasive strategies for future work in this field have been addressed. Abstract

This article analyzed the teachers’ role of Islamic Religious Education in Madrasah, in managing learning to improve the good quality and professional learning. This method used descriptive qualitative approach by exploring the teachers in the management learning quality of three schools, for instance Madrsah Aliyah (MA) Al-Ikhsan Beji Kedung Banteng Banyumas, Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Banyumas, and MAN 2 Banyumas. The competent and smart teachers would be able to develop the students’ learning, either in a professional or responsible manner. Through pedagogical abilities, the teachers were able to independently improve the development of their knowledge by reviewing, internalizing, and realizing the output of learners competing in the education world. The researcher found that professional teachers were able to deliver the students to have a righteous attitude in both school and outside of school. Abstract

This article analyzed the learning experience of students at home during the school closing period in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Through this study, an in-depth understanding of the life experiences, perceptions, and motivation of students were obtained from either the school or their parents. These outputs would be input into policy making and solving learning problems towards a new normal era. Now the school closures have been running for almost seven months and it almost about to reopening this mid-August 2020. To understand this phenomenon issue, some data searching have been performed ranging from daily papers, academic journal, and educational related literature. The data search then analyzed under the phenomenological application approach. Compiling the existing data and students voices, this study showed that the students learning experiences during six month learning from home responding the national policy stopping the corona virus spreading can be reported based on 10 websites visited have expressed their best coverage over students learning difficulty and challenge from different perspectives. Most websites mentioned students hardship in learning from home caused the lack of learning resources such not access to internet and parents ability to support their children learning. Abstract

This article aims to analyze the spiritual intelligence on the students’ Communication Ethics, emotional intelligence on the students’ communication ethics, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual intelligence on students’ communication ethics at IAIN Bone. This article used comparative study in using Pearson's correlation technique product moment .The results showed the results of testing with a regression model showed that spiritual, emotional and intellectual intelligence together were significant to the ethics of communication at a real level of five percent. It can be seen from the probability value below alpha five (5) percent, which is equal to 0,000. This means that the proposed alternative hypothesis (H4) is accepted and reject H0. Thus, a joint change of the three types of intelligence will be followed by an increase in communication ethics for IAIN Bone students.
