Abstract

The air quality index (AQI) in Papua has the best index among other provinces in Indonesia. Papua has different geographical and social conditions than western Indonesia. In particular, forests in Papua are more numerous with fewer industries and automobiles than provinces in western Indonesia. The article aims to determine respondents' perceptions related to climate change awareness and pro-environmental behavior (PEB) in regions that have AQI in Indonesia, namely Papua. This study uses a survey strategy through a questionnaire instrument for students who have received the application of digital literacy and gamification in the English for Specific Purposes class. The questionnaire was distributed to be filled in by respondents with a total number of responses totaling 164 responses from students of engineering faculty. This study identified that respondents' awareness of climate change was in the moderately aware category (M = 3.8). These findings are directly proportional to PEB respondents who are at the middle level (M = 3.9). Furthermore, analysis of the data shows that respondents are highly aware (M = 4.3) that humans have a responsibility for climate change, and respondents are highly concern (M = 4.4) to carry out forestation both by individuals and community. The finding implication of this study is learning through digital literacy and gamification has a positive potential to be applied through policy and developed into a learning model to increase awareness of climate change and PEB. Abstract

This article revisited the relevance of returning students home's national policy while avoiding the dangers of coronavirus 2019 in the school environment. There has been no medical certainty stating that the danger of the Coronavirus spread among schools is that the government must issue policies that are without good reason as the safest solution. On the other hand, the policy of returning students to study at home also raises some doubts. This study intended to examine various literatures on the suitability of government policies regarding school closures that have been running for almost one year. The data were then analyzed using a descriptive phenomenological approach to obtain medical reasons related to the risk of spreading the virus among school adolescents. Finally, the researchers found that the government policy to repatriate students is still motivated by excessive concern about the transmission of the epidemic among students in the school environment. Until now, the government has not had a strong reason to close schools to avoid the virus. On the other hand, this policy may impact on student learning and other socio-economic disadvantages. Thus, the government would consider these findings in evaluating policies related to overcoming the dangers of the pandemic in the school environment, which consider the disadvantages of education. Abstract

The millennial generation presents challenges and opportunities for educational institutions, including Perbanas Institute in Jakarta. To effectively educate millennials entering the 21st century, it is crucial to implement new approaches to information technology-based teaching that caters to their unique characteristics and learning preferences. This abstract summarizes the essential findings and recommendations regarding these new approaches. A comprehensive literature review has identified that gamification, blended learning, adaptive learning technologies, and online collaboration platforms effectively engage millennial learners and maximize their learning outcomes. Gamification incorporates game elements to motivate learners through rewards and interactive experiences. Blended learning combines online and face-to-face instruction, providing flexibility and personalized learning experiences. Adaptive learning technologies customize learning based on individual needs, while online collaboration platforms promote collaboration and effective communication skills. To successfully implement these new approaches, Perbanas Institute should invest in faculty development programs, upgrade technological infrastructure, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Faculty members need the training to integrate technology effectively, while students require the necessary resources and support. By embracing these new approaches, Perbanas Institute can enhance the educational experiences of millennial learners and equip them with the skills required for the 21st-century workforce. Aligning teaching methods with the needs and preferences of millennials will prepare them for the evolving digital landscape and ensure their future success. Abstract

This study aims to identify the needs for developing an online comprehensive test application at one of the Islamic universities in Indonesia. The needs assessment includes target situation analysis, user needs analysis, reality analysis, and gap analysis. This is a descriptive quantitative research involving 135 examiners and students who are taking comprehensive examinations from all four faculties at IAIN Bone as samples. Sampling technique used a stratified random sampling. Questionnaires and interview techniques were utilized for data collection, followed by a descriptive analysis. The findings reveal several weaknesses in the comprehensive test system. These include the lack of integration among all faculties, partial implementation, a highly flexible exam schedule, a paper-based test administration method, a lack of standardized instrument development, and suboptimal utilization of comprehensive test results for mapping student competencies. To conclude, it is necessary to develop an online comprehensive test application which is expected to be able to make the implementation of the comprehensive test at IAIN Bone more integrated, programmed, and effective.
